S. Amin Tabish also known as Professor (Dr.) Syed Amin Tabish is Indian medical scientist[1] [2], physician, author[3] [4] [5] poet, holding a Royal College of Physicians (London), American College of Physicians and New York Academy of Sciences Fellowships and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bristol. With an expertise of three decades, Tabish has worked on various sectors including University Planning, Medical Education, Scientific Research, and Healthcare Administration. He possesses a portfolio of over 500 Scientific Research publications and has authored sixteen Books encompassing subjects like Health Policy, Planning, Management, Emergency Medicine, Medical Education, Social Sciences, and Literature. Additionally, Tabish has taken on the role of Editor for numerous international medical journals and have been honored with 60 Awards recognizing his contributions to Healthcare, Higher Education, and Scientific Research.[6]

Early life and education

Born in a well educated family at Tilagam Pattan on March 30, 1957 and presently living in Sanat Nagar, Srinagar Kashmir. Syed Amin Tabish has marked a noted educational journey, obtaining qualifications such as MBBS, FRCP from London, FACP, FAMS FRCP (Edin), MD HA (AIIMS), FRIPH (England), FIMSA, MHSM (London) and Doctorate in Educational Leadership (USA). Furthermore, he is a fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences since 2003.[7]

Career

S.A Tabish has introduced contemporary approaches to designing curricula, bringing innovative techniques to curriculum development. Tabish has led the design and implementation of numerous graduate and postgraduate programs at premier medical universities such as Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar and Qassim University in Saudi Arabia. These programs encompass MBBS. MD, M Sc. Nursing, B Sc. Nursing, as well as Technology Courses. Integral in shaping the administrative and academic frameworks of diverse medical institutions, Tabish has provided extensive training to countless medical professionals, including doctors and nurses. The training covers a wide spectrum, from scientific research and recent advances to future trends in medical sciences, Evidence-based medicine, evidence-based healthcare (EBHC), Total quality management / continuous quality improvement (TQM/CQI), advanced techniques in specialized patient care, and emerging perspectives in healthcare, Lifestyle Diseases, Emerging Infectious Diseases, etc. Moreover, his expertise extends to medical education, Problem-based learning (PBL), Quality Improvement in higher academic institutions, and more.

Besides Tabish has contributed Chapters to Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Syllabus for 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th classes

Accomplishments

  • Conceptual Approach to Planning of a University Saudi Arabia during 2007.
  • Advised establishing of Medical Colleges, 1000 bedded University Hospital, College of Allied Science Saudi Arabia, 2005-2007.
  • Established Regional Research Centre in Saudi Arabia, 2005-2007.
  • Played a key role in Curriculum Development at Qassim University Saudi Arabia from 2005 to 2007.
  • Established Disaster Management Programme and 100 bedded Accident & Emergency Department at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), in 2000. His innovative and creative “Level System” is first of its kind in the world.
  • Represented India in “The World Health Forum” Selection of the participants was based on national stature, academic contribution, and international recognition. Nations were asked to nominate the very best people they have in the specified fields to gather and examine the issues related to their healthcare system. Dallas Texas USA, 1998.

Moreover, he achieved the status of a fellow at the International Medical Sciences Academy in India in 1998, followed by becoming a fellow at the National Academy of Medical Sciences in New Delhi in 2003 and American College of Physicians (USA) in 2006. He was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in London (2002), as well as at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (2004).
