Susan Margaret Crawford (born c.1965) is an American lawyer and jurist from Madison, Wisconsin. She is a Wisconsin circuit court judge for Dane County since 2018. Earlier in her career, she served as chief legal counsel to Wisconsin governor Jim Doyle. She also served as an assistant attorney general in the Wisconsin Department of Justice and as administrator of the Office of Energy in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. She is a candidate for Wisconsin Supreme Court in the 2025 election.
Biography
editSusan Crawford was raised in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin,[1] and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1983.[2] She went on to attend Lawrence University, in Appleton, Wisconsin, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1987. She immediately continued her education at Indiana University, earning her master's in 1989. A short time later, she entered the University of Iowa College of Law and obtained her J.D. in 1994.[3]
She was named a partner at the law firm Pines Bach LLP in 2013, with a practice focused on civil litigation and regulatory proceedings.[4]
Personal life and family
editSusan Crawford is one of four children born to James and Marcia Crawford of Monroe, Wisconsin.[7]
Susan married Shawn F. Peters. They reside in Madison and have two adult children.[1]
