Rick Mantei edit

Rick Mantei (born June 9, 1954) is an American veteran and former fighter pilot known for his service in the United States Air Force and the South Carolina Air National Guard, as well as his subsequent career in finance.

Early Life and Education edit

Mantei was born in St. Joseph, Michigan, and later moved to Warner Robins, Georgia, where he was influenced by his father, an Air Force sergeant, and his mother, who worked for Robins Air Force Base. He attended the United States Air Force Academy, graduating with the Class of '76 with a degree in civil engineering. Mantei furthered his education, earning a Master's degree in Personnel Management from Central Michigan University.

Military Career edit

After graduation, Mantei pursued a career in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot, specializing in the F-4 Phantom. He served at various bases, including Seymour Johnson AFB and George AFB, where he trained as an F-4G Wild Weasel pilot. Mantei's military service also included active duty during Operation Desert Storm, where he flew 34 combat missions in Saudi Arabia.

Financial Career edit

Following his military service, Mantei transitioned to a career in finance, joining Merrill Lynch as a stockbroker in Columbia, South Carolina. Over 13 years with the firm, he became one of the top 10 brokers nationwide, managing significant client assets.

Later Years and Community Involvement edit

Mantei retired from the South Carolina Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1997. He remains actively involved in veteran organizations and community service initiatives, including supporting charities such as the Gary Sinise Foundation and volunteering with organizations like Harvest Hope Food Bank[1], Homestead Hospice, Oliver Gospel Mission , and Sole Stepping[2].

  • Air Medals: Awarded multiple times for meritorious achievement in aerial flight.

Rick currently resides in Columbia, SC with his wife of 20 years and their 2 beautiful daughters.
