Public Energy Performing Arts is a non-profit[1] arts organization located in Peterborough, Ontario. Founded by Bill Kimball in 1994,[2][3][4] the organization supports the creation, touring, and presentation of contemporary performing arts and promotes the presence of an active contemporary performance culture in the Peterborough area.[5][6][7][8]
The programming is national in scope and regional in spirit. As of 2022, the organization has worked with more than 2,000 artists,[9] including dancers, actors, choreographers, directors, visual artists, filmmakers, sound artists and writers. Notable collaborators include performance artist Alexis O’Hara,[10] writer/performer Tomson Highway,[11] and choreographers Bill James,[12] Debra Brown[13] and Bill Coleman.[14]
