Juris Šteinfelds (born May 17, 1986), better known by his stage name Pionieris (in Latvian – Pioneer) is a Latvian rapper, writer, record producer and entrepreneur from Riga. His musical career began in 1998. He is founder of hip hop music assembly in Latvia known as Kreisais Krasts.[1][2][3]
Early life
editJuris was born on May 17, 1986, in Rīga, the only child of Rasma Šteinfelde and Sergejs Šteinfelds.
Career
editIn addition to his solo career, Pionieris was a member of the hip hop group Zasulauka bīts. On November 1, 2022, rapper Pionieris released his debut album "Kaut mēs uzvarētu tās cīņas par kurām nerunājam". Album was mixed and mastered by engineer Dāvis Strauss in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA, at legendary Chalice Recording Studios, where artists like Kanye West, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Nas and others have done their work.[4] Together with musician Rolands Ūdris and actress Ilona Balode, they recorded "Odu basketbolam", which is a tribute to the Latvian team and its fans at the 2009 European Basketball Championship. As part of the "Dod pieci" charity marathon in 2021, he created the official anthem "Pāri visam" together with "Kreisais Krasts" and the musician Būū (Ilze Fārte). In the campaign, donations were collected for the accessibility of the environment, for people with functional disabilities.[5]
Musical style
editPionieris musical style has generally been regarded in hip hop style. He is songwriter and the author of the lyrics. Rapper arranges and produces music records.[6]
