Peach Fuzz is an indie rock band from Naarm/Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The band consists of singer Lucinda Gray, guitarist and singer Ben La, drummer James La and bassist Lewis Rich. The group is known for their wild stage presence, catchy guitar-driven melodies, and silly/goofy/peculiar personalities. Their music draws inspiration from 70’s pop rock and 90’s indie rock, whilst putting a fresh and fuzzy spin on it.
History
editThe group formed in 2019 when high school friends, Ben La (guitar and vocals) and Lewis Rich (bass), would jam to classic rock songs before they had jazz ensemble rehearsal. Neither of them could really actually jazz, so they decided to form a band together and play rock music for fun. Both Ben and Lewis were just beginning to write songs, and for a long time, the outcomes were shocking. It wasn’t until 2022 that Ben’s brother James La and their friend-through-a-friend Lucinda Gray joined the band on drums and vocals. At this point, the band began to really get in their groove both on and off stage.
The band has become one of Naarm/Melbourne’s favourite local live acts, showcasing their wild presence, including Hendrix-esque guitar solos behind the head, and silly antics on stage, including a gong and Lewis’s head[1]
The group has released four singles together so far, with the fan favourite track being ‘What Do You Want From This?’ which has garnered the most love across it’s music video on YouTube[2] as well as on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. Their self-titled EP ‘Peach Fuzz’, will be their first official body of work created by the quartet, and is set to be released in late 2024.
