Mamata Banerjee (born 5 January 1955) is an Indian politician serving as the 8th and current Chief Minister of West Bengal since 2011. She is the founder and leader of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC or TMC).

Early Life and Education

Mamata Banerjee was born in Kolkata, West Bengal. She completed her Bachelor's degree from Jogamaya Devi College, a Master's degree in Islamic History from the University of Calcutta, a degree in education from Shri Shikshayatan College, and a law degree from Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College, Kolkata.

Political Career

Mamata Banerjee founded the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in 1998 after separating from the Indian National Congress. She has been the Chief Minister of West Bengal since 2011, being the first woman to hold the office. Her political career includes various significant positions in the Indian government, including Minister of Railways, Minister of Coal, and Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Youth Affairs and Sports, and Women and Child Development.
