Niño Cesar Borromeo Tiro is a Filipino composer and pianist whose works incorporate elements of Neo-Classical, Neo-Romantic, postminimalist, and modern classical styles.
Born in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, Tiro started piano lessons at the age of five and later pursued a career in music. He received classical training and has established himself as a piano and composition teacher[1] in the Philippines.
Since 2018, Tiro has been recognized with various academic and cultural awards. In 2021, he was honored with the Philippine National Award: The NCCA's Ani Ng Dangal Award in Music[2]. He participated as the only Filipino composer in the "250 Piano Pieces for Beethoven International Composition Project," which was highlighted on the German Cultural Radio Channel and by pianist Susanne Kessel in 2020. His compositions have been broadcast on 98.7 DZFE-FM The Master's Touch Culture Carousel radio, and his work has been acknowledged on the websites[3] of UCLA and Universal Edition.
In 2021, Tiro contributed to the soundtrack for the restored 1911 Italian silent film "Pinocchio." He received funding from the NCCA’s 2022 Competitive Grants Program. On October 25, 2022, he released an album titled "Chamber Works," which featured contributions from prominent Filipino musicians.
