Chef Max Mariola

Massimiliano Mariola, called Max (Rome, April 11 1969), is a chef, television personality,  Italian YouTuber, and star on the Gambero Rosso Channel, a Sky satellite channel.[1]

Biography

edit

Born in Rome, in the Garbatella neighborhood, and raised in the town of Nettuno, he got his passion for cooking from his mother, Fiorella.

Enrolled at the Anzio School of Art, he abandoned it in the 1980s to join his father Mario in the ancient Vestri artisan workshop, owned by the family.

In the nineties, following the sudden death of his father, he left the shop to become a chef and began his business at "Il Castagnone" in Genzano Romano, managed by Attilio Renzo Gabbarini. In the same period, he attended the evening school "A tavola con lo chef" ("At the table with the chef"), from which he graduated in 1993. Among the teachers there was chef Laura Ravaioli, of whom he became assistant in 1999 for Gambero Rosso Channel. In 2001 he was given his first program, the Cucine d'Italia feature, in which he hosted Italian chefs of all backgrounds, from osteria to starred restaurants.

During one of these programs, Max Mariola met his mentor, chef Fulvio Pierangelini, owner of the two Michelin star restaurant "Il Gambero rosso" in San Vincenzo, which closed in 2012. Max Mariola worked consistently with Pierangelini from 2000 to 2009.

In those same years, Max Mariola also worked for important gastronomic establishments. He taught the master's degree in Catering Management at the Business School of Sole 24 ore. He has collaborated with starred restaurants and large hotel chains, and carried out consultancy for numerous companies in the sector, including the hotels of the Boscolo chain (in Italy and Europe), AIA and Gruppo Veronesi. He was the chef de partie for the Simposium restaurants of Cartoceto, Agata and Romeo in Rome, La Peschiera in Monopoli, Il Melograno in Alberobello, of the Dom Hotel in Rome, the Marriot Hotel in Doha and the Sheraton in Tel Aviv.

In 2018 he launched the YouTube channel, Chef Max Mariola and associated social media profiles.

On January 24, 2024, he inaugurated in Milan a restaurant that bears his name "Max Mariola - Il ristorante" ("Max Mariola - The restaurant").
