Malene Heerup (born 21 January 1964) is a Danish artist.[nb 1]. Her works include paintings, murals and product design.[2].

From birth Heerup was surrounded by art and artists. She is the daughter of Ole Heerup, a Danish artist and granddaughter of Henry Heerup[3] and Emilie "Mille" Heerup[4] [5] both Danish artists. Her mother, Liselotte Taarup [6], was an author of science text-books and novels.

Heerup has a half sister, Ingeborg Dena Faber[7], who is any animator, and a half-brother Rasmus Faber, who works on the conservation of historic buildings with the Royal Danish Academy of Conservation.

Heerup has a degree in design and fine art from Parsons School of Design in New York, U.S.A.

Personal life edit

Heerup grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark, but also lived in Paris and New York, where she met Belgian musician Alan Gevaert (member of the band dEUS). Gevaert og Heerup were in a relationship from 1996 – 2006 and have a son together, Milan Oliver Gevaert Heerup[8], born in Copenhagen in 1999.

Heerup has been living and working in Copenhagen since 1999.
