Lusso (formely Pierrot Lusso and Lusso ElDorado) was a Switzerland ice cream owned by Unilever.

History

edit

Pierrot was owned by Pierrot-Friola, a division of Yoplait that owned the Pierrot ice cream brand as well as the Friola fruit brand. In 1962, Unilever started an ice cream brand in Switzerland, called Lusso Eldorado. In 1995, Unilever's Lusso Eldorado merged with Yoplait's Pierrot-Friola to form Pierrot Lusso. Lusso Eldorado's logo was updated to reflect this: "Pierrot" was added to the logo, the font for "Lusso" changed, and the horizontal line was removed. "Eldorado" was also removed from the company name entirely. In 2003, Yoplait ended their partnership with Unilever. Because of this, the Pierrot brand was retired, and the company name was shortened to just "Lusso".
