Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, also known simply as "Master Chief", is a fictional character who is the main protagonist of the Paramount+ series Halo. Adapted for television by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane and portrayed by Pablo Schreiber, he is based on the character of the same name from the video game franchise on which the series is based upon.
As the series takes creative liberties from the main franchise, this version of John/Master Chief has several differences in characterization. Most notably, Master Chief is regularly seen without his iconic helmet and often without his armor, a departure from the video games in which the character is almost never seen without his helmet and even acts as a silent protagonist at various points.
