Jayden Corbin Duplessis (born January 6, 2005), better known by his stage name JayTheKidd, is a Canadian rapper and hip hop artist from Lyons Brook, Nova Scotia.[1]

Career

edit

At age 13, Duplessis originally started making music and songs with friends and posting them online for fun under another alias, but these releases have since been deleted from the Internet.[2] In July 2021, he released his debut single "Revenge" and accompanying video which premiered on Elevator, a YouTube channel.[3][4][5]

In July 2022, he started his live performance career by selling out his hometown venue in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and opening for JUNO award winners Classified and JRDN the following weeks.[6][7][8]

He opened for NLE Choppa, DVBBS & Dzeko in early October 2023 at Magnetic World Music Festival in Halifax.[9]

Personal life

edit

Duplessis was born and raised in Lyons Brook, Nova Scotia. He began singing and has been performing since he was six. He took his musical interests from his grandmother who played the organ for their local church and after school would teach him how to play the piano. He also looked up to his aunt, Karen Corbin, who was a pop/dance artist in the 1990s.[10]
