JCBL Limited, commonly known as JCBL, is a mobility solutions manufacturing company. It is part of the JCBL Group[1], a corporate conglomerate based in India. The company's corporate headquarters are located in Mohali, Punjab, with two manufacturing plants, one in Lalru, Mohali, Punjab, and the other, operating under the name JML, situated in Oragadam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Originating as a bus body building (coach builder) company, JCBL Limited has been in the industry for more than three decades and now manufactures products such as Buses,[2][3][4][5] SAVs (Special Application Vehicles), Election Campaign Vehicles, Logistics Vehicles, Motorhomes,[6][7][8][9] Petrol and Water Tankers,[10][11][12][13] Healthcare vehicles, and Mining & Construction vehicles. In addition, JCBL Limited engages in the manufacturing of containers and undertakes customized projects based on logistics containers.

JCBL Limited's noteworthy contributions are towards special application vehicles, that included production of recreational vehicles (RVs)[6][8] such as motorhomes,[7] including Caravans,[9] and fully bulletproof election campaign buses designed for high-profile politicians.[14][15][16]

JCBL Limited was founded in 1989. Initially, it manufactured bus bodies for major OEMs. Gradually, it expanded its manufacturing capabilities to offer customized and fully functional mobility solutions. The founder of JCBL Limited and the current Chairman and Managing Director of JCBL Group (parent company of JCBL Limited), Rajinder Aggarwal,[17] travelled around the globe and gained insights into advancements happening in the mobility industry.

After that, JCBL Limited established its in-house Research and Development wing, accredited by DSIR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research). Having an in-house R&D wing helped the company enter custom mobility solutions segments such as SAVs (Special Application Vehicles). As a result, the company began manufacturing vehicles like mobile offices, display vans, election campaign vans, mobile ATMs, riot control vehicles, mobile blood banks, ambulances, hospitals on wheels, motorhomes, etc.

JCBL Limited was one of the first companies to launch Recreational Vehicles (RVs) in India.[18] It launched its first RV in India in association with an Italy-based firm PLA. In 2009, the company started manufacturing luxury bus coaches for various STUs for their inter-city and intra-city operations.[2][3][4][5]

JCBL Limited is a company under the JCBL Group, a corporate conglomerate based out of Mohali-Chandigarh. The JCBL Group comprises companies in diversified sectors. JCBL Group was the first to open the initial Harley-Davidson retail dealership in the country. The first dealership was opened in 2010 in Delhi and is operated by the JCBL Group in partnership with Harley-Davidson India. Another company of JCBL Group is MSL (Mobility Solutions Limited) that recently bagged a 100 Crore contract from Indian Railways for Vande Bharat.[19][20][21][22] Another defence unit of JCBL Group is known as ADSL (Airbornics Defence & Space Private Ltd.)[23] that has designed specialized paradrop systems for DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation).[24][25][26][27][28][29] JCBL Group also has a unit that transforms ordinary vehicles into bulletproof vehicles.[30]

JCBL Limited's notable projects include designing motorhomes[7] and recreational vehicles.[8] Additionally, the company has been involved in election campaigns for high-profile politicians. One of the initial motorhome and Recreational Vehicles introduced in India by JCBL was in collaboration with international entities, such as PLA from Italy.[18]

JCBL manufactured and supplied a Caravan with luxury amenities for the Kerala Tourism department's project called "Keravan Kerala."[31][32][33] This project for the Government of Kerala got appreciation at different stages and many prominent personalities were seen experiencing the luxury travel in it.[34][35] Bollywood Actor Manoj Bajpayee is seen traveling in this caravan.[34][36] Among others seen traveling in JCBL Caravan was Malayalam movie actress Rasna Pavithran.[35] Along with this, JCBL has launched luxury bus coaches such as Destiny. Additionally, JCBL constructed a promotional bus to showcase the achievements of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), which travelled throughout the country as part of the 'Space on Wheels' project.

JCBL has also created VIP election campaign buses for notable politicians in India. In 2016 JCBL Limited manufactured a VIP election campaign bus for Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav.[14] Before that JCBL has also manufactured a high-tech campaign bus for Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu.[15][37] This bus had not only luxury amenities but it was also bulletproof and mine-proof. Former Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekar Rao also got a VIP campaign bus designed by JCBL Limited.[16] JCBL Group (parent company of JCBL Limited) also has a subsidiary under the name JCBL Armouring Solutions[38] that makes bulletproof vehicles.[30] In addition to this, JCBL Limited, in collaboration with SML (Swaraj Mazda Limited), has designed bus bodies for the shuttle bus service provided by the Shuttl app.[39]

The company significantly supplied products to major OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), Government Undertakings, and STUs (State Transport Undertakings). JCBL Limited's diverse clientele and partners in different projects included renowned national and international entities such as PLA (Italy),[18] BharatBenz, Ashok Leyland,[10][13] Swaraj Mazda (SML Isuzu),[39] Tata Motors,[40] Eicher Motors, and DICV (Daimler India).

Also, the company has been associated with government organizations such as ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), DRDO (Defence Research & Development Organisation), NACO (National AIDS Control Organisation), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (India), Ministry of Defence (India), Ministry of Transportation, and the Department of Tourism (Kerala).
