Happy Accident is an American comedy television series in development for the 2019–20 network television season created by Abraham Higginbotham and Jon Pollack. The pilot was directed by Kat Coiro and starred Matt Walsh, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Kether Donohue, Jessie Pinnick, Vanessa Williams, and Elliot Knight. The series was set to premiere on ABC.[1][2][3][4]
Premise
editHappy Accident follows the lives of two Pittsburgh families, Bud Bennett and his three adult daughters, Eleanor, Danielle and Samantha, and a hotel lounge singer, Sherri, with her med student son, Kenan, "who are forced together after a decades-old secret is revealed."[1]

editOn November 26, 2018, it was announced that ABC had given the show a pilot production commitment.[1] On January 9, 2019, it was announced that Kat Coiro would direct the pilot episode of the series.[4] Executive producers include Abraham Higginbotham and Jon Pollack, and production companies involved with the production are ABC Studios and 20th Century Fox Television.[2]
On May 14, 2019, it was announced that ABC had passed on the project.[5]
Casting
editOn January 15, 2019, it was confirmed that Matt Walsh would play the lead character as the father of three daughters, Bud, in the series.[6] It was also confirmed that JoAnna Garcia Swisher would be joining the show as Eleanor Bennett, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh and the oldest daughter of Bud,[7] Kether Donohue as Danielle Bennett, the middle daughter of Bud,[8] Jessie Pinnick as Samantha "Sammy" Bennett, the youngest daughter of Bud,[3] Vanessa Williams as Sherri, a hotel lounge singer,[9] and Elliot Knight as Kenan, a medical student and Sherri's son.[3]
