Friedrich Gräfling (born 1987) is a German architect[1] , founder of the spatial agency Cultural Avenue [2] and distinguished art collector, both alongside his wife, Johanna Gräfling, an economist and art historian. He studied architecture at the Architectural Association in London, receiving the AA Diploma with Honours in 2013..[3] His thesis project, "Contemporary Court,"[4] [5] was nominated for the prestigious RIBA Silver President's Medal the same year[6]
Art collection
editTogether with Johanna, Friedrich has assembled a notable art collection[7] comprising of approximately 400 works and being described as "two of Europe's most dynamic contemporary art collectors"[8]. Their approach is characterized by direct engagement with artists and active participation in the creation and installation of artworks. For them it is "important to share and promote interaction with and interest in art as broadly as possible". [9] The collection includes numerous works by Alicja Kwade, Simon Fujiwara, Laure Prouvost, Taryn Simon and Christian Jankowski.
