Erik Angra is an Indian American documentary filmmaker,[1][2][3][4][5] cinematographer, editor, and director of photography.[6][7][8] He is the director and head of development at Angra Media Labs, a movie and motion production company.[3][1]

Career

Angra became the editor of a Ken Burns film, Defying the Nazis, which starred Tom Hanks.[8][9]

He was the contributing director and cinematographer at VICE Media from 2015 to 2018.[10] In 2015, he started directing a biographical documentary, Vice Versa: Chyna,[11] based on the life of Chyna,[12] a wrestler and feminist icon who overdosed and ultimately died during production in 2016.[13][14][15] Her death sparked controversy as she faced multiple challenges in her personal and professional life.[16][17][18]

Angra directed the cult reality series Quiet Desperation, alongside Rob Potylo. The show consists of five seasons and 50 episodes.

Angra received the Special Jury Prize for editing the feature-length documentary, The Minister's War at the Amsterdam Film Festival in 2012.[8]
