Elaine Savory is Emeritus Professor of Literary Studies and Environmental Studies at Eugene Lang College, The New School in New York City.[1] Savory has taught at numerous international universities across North America, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean including the University of Ghana; University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados; University of Ibadan, Nigeria; New York University and The New School. She has served as Visiting Scholar/Fellow at the Institute for Research on Women at Rutgers University and the University of Baroda in India.[2][3] Savory has published numerous academic works on Caribbean and African literatures including work on Caribbean writer Jean Rhys (two books, a co-edited collection and a number of essays) and in postcolonial ecocriticism and environmental humanities.[4][5][6] Her poem collection flame tree time was published in the Sandberry Press series.[7][8] She has just completed a memoir and a long essay on the breadfruit (botany, history and presence in human culture).[9]
