Career Quotes
editRay Clark: "It is with great relief that I can at last report BB&O have won a golf match! We took on the Mid-Anglia section in a titanic struggle at the superb Berkhamsted course and came away with three wins and two halves, the nearest to defeat coming from our answer to Calcavecchia, myself and Dave Goodchild, going from 3 up with 5 to play to a shaky halved match! The match was played in excellent spirit and we look forward to a return in '92."
Mark Day: "Nearest the Pin was won by Dave Goodchild, Ellesborough GC, and Ted Lewis, with Richard Davies whacking a good one to win the Longest Drive."
Jackie Maher: "The Course was in fabulous condition and we want to record a special thanks to the Head Greenkeeper Dave Goodchild, and his team for their fast if not slick greens, the truly challenging pin positions and Dave's utter attention to the Course throughout the Competition."
Controversies
editEaster of 2021, David attended an egg race where he was asked to provide eggs to roll. In a devious attempt to hoodwink the judges, David decided to boil the eggs in order for them to retain their density and win the race through deception. David then proceeded to fall asleep, waking up in a panic, he went to retrieve the eggs which after two hours of cooking they exploded into his eye causing severe trauma to both him and everyone who has to witness the injury. To this day, David has not gone near another egg.
