Christian Townsend (born 7 January 2002) is a Scottish rugby union player. He plays at fly-half or centre. He is the son of Scottish rugby coach and former rugby international Gregor Townsend.

Career

He started his rugby career aged 5 years old at Melrose RFC. he also played for the Ayreshire Bulls.[2] Townsend was confirmed as part of the Glasgow Warriors academy ahead of the 2021-22 season. He also played for the Warringah Rats in 2023.[3]

International career

He played for Scotland at under-16, under-17 and under-20 level.[4]

Personal life

He attended Earlston High School and Stewart's Melville College before he studied Mathematics at the University of Strathclyde. He also played tennis competitively representing the Borders, South of Scotland. His younger brother Luke Townsend is also a junior rugby player.[5]
