Charlie Frye, sometimes performing under the stage name The Eccentric, is an American clown, magician and juggler.[1]

Frye's Father and grandfather were professional clowns, and he started clowning when he was about seven years old,[1][2] eventually performing with them.[3][4] He went to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in 1979, and toured with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus (Ringling) for three years.[5] He met his wife-to-be, Sherry, at the Ringling in 1980. She was a dancer and aerial performer and after Ringling they started performing together.[1]

In 2006, he performed at the 70th annual convention of the British Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. The Stage's reviewer said "...some of the fastest comic juggling you are ever likely to see. ... A brilliant act that gained one of the few standing ovations of the convention."[6]

The Fryes have toured with The Illusionists group of magicians, where Charlie performs as "The Eccentric",[7] a name alluding to vaudeville theater.[8]
