Akhara (lit. 'Akhara') is a Pakistani television series directed by Anjum Shahzad, written by Shahid Dogar and revolves around the Akhara culture of rural Pakistan. It stars Feroze Khan, Sonya Hussyn and Faraz Farooqui in leading roles. It was Khan's return to television after the controversy of marital abuse. The series first premiered on 10 January 2024 on Green Entertainment.[2]
Plot
editThe plot revolves around the rivalry of two families, of Dastgeer and Sultan who complete each other in dangal. Hakim Ali's rival Chaudhary Riasat trains Dastgeer to defeat Sultan for the upcoming mega event of the village fair. Sultan's brother Dilsher doesn't like all this but has to adapt the same path due to his Hakim Ali obsession with his ancestoral passion and after the sudden demise of Sultan, who dies one day during the competition when Dastgeer plays a false trick and referee also doesn't interfere.

editThe original soundtrack of the series "Banda" is sung by KG The Rapstar, Rijas Rammar, and Schumaila Rehmat Hussain, with lyrics by Ahad Ali Siddiqui, KG, and Rijjas.[5]
Production
editIn mid 2023, it revealed that Feroze Khan will play the lead in Anjum Shahzad's Akhara,[2] marking their fourth project together after Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay, Khaani and Romeo Weds Heer.[1] The action sequences in the series were choreographed by Azam Bhatti who previously worked in Badshah Begum and film Chakkar.[1]
The principle photography began in April 2023.[1]
Reception
editWhile reviewing the first episode, The News International praised the performances of Waseem Abbas and Faraz Farooqui and stated the leads' performances as mediocre.[6]
