Danny Manu (born 5 December 1988), is a Ghanaian-British engineer and tech entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO at Mymanu, a British electronics company, founded in 2014, known for producing various innovative audio Software and Hardware including CLIK earbuds, Gabby Smart speakers, and Myjuno app among others.[1] [2] Mymanu CLIK earbuds are live voice translation earbuds. Gabby Smart speakers are waterproof wireless speakers, while the Myjuno app is a translating and messaging app with the option of 37 languages.[3]

Biography

Danny was born on 5 December 1988 in Manchester, England to Ghanaian parents. Danny completed his elementary and high school studies in England. He attended Oxford Brookes University in England, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in sound engineering and music technology.[5] Between 2018 and 2019, Danny worked as a global technology engineer at Quanta Networks Inc, a Canadian telecommunication company.[6]

Mymanu

In 2014, Danny founded Mymanu in England, as an electronics company that aims to enrich people's experience globally through the power of sound by producing various innovative audio Software and Hardware.[7][8] The first product released by Danny is a waterproof Bluetooth speaker, Gabby Smart Speaker, named after his daughter who once dropped her phone in water, something that triggered the idea.[9][10]

CLIK earbuds

In 2016, through Mymanu, Danny invented the Mymanu CLIK earbud as a live voice translation earbud. The earbud has a unique operating system that uses Bluetooth to sync with smartphones, enabling the earbuds to learn the language being spoken while providing instant translations to the person listening. The operating system even makes text-to-speech and speech-to-text possible.[4] Mymanu translation system is available on IOS and Android through the Myjuno App.[11] The Mymanu CLIK + earbud was unveiled during 2017 CES in Las Vegas with capacity of translating between 37 languages globally.[12] The updated version was unveiled at 2019 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona known as Mymanu CLIK S, and in 2024 they released Mymanu CLIK Pro which is powered with AI.[13] Mymanu has sold hundreds of thousands of the CLIK+ and CLIK S earbuds in the U.S, Asia and Europe which are the company’s major markets.[14][15]

Titan earbuds

In 2023, Danny launched Mymanu Titan earbuds, a wireless earbud that uses eSIM to enable users make and receive calls and SMS without the assistance of a smartphone. The Titan earbuds can connect to the internet via cellular data. For translation, it needs to pair with the MyJuno app and be controlled via voice. Danny demonstrated the final version of the earbuds at CES 2023 in Las Vegas. BBC described it in a tweet as “the first screenless mobile phone”.[16] Danny also showcased the 4G-Connected wireless Mymanu Titan earbud at 2023 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.[17]

MEDYBIRD

In 2020, during COVID-19 pandemic, Danny created Medybird company as a manufacturer and supplier of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.[18][19] The company contributed to supplying and shipping out PPE units to countries in need.[20]

Music

Danny has a background in music and art, he worked for years as a music producer, featured on The X Factor and worked with a couple of international artists including Fleur East among others.[21] He was recognized by Google for his contributions to science, arts and culture.[4]
