I'm not sure which or if either template is appropriate, but I've added two on the front page. According to WP:CSD#C1, categories that are "project categories that by their nature may become empty on occasion" should not be deleted. This is the case here, and since this is a recently added feature for the {{albums}} template, it may or may not become popular with use.
