can you add "Shivaji (film)" to the list, please? --69.197.247.58 16:01, 18 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sivaji: The Boss has been added now I think. As for this category, not all the Tamil films that are added here are made in India. Cookie90 14:50, 10 February 2006 (UTC) The category is for all Indian made Tamil films as well as any films of any other country that contains Tamil dialogue. :) 86.142.26.194 16:19, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Film Additions

edit

Hi! Its great that films are being added here, but can I suggest that rather than simply adding one film here, stubbing it, and then moving on and adding another, one should edit and develop each film article to a high standard and then add it and then work on the next. Some of the films added here I haven't seen, and they weren't very well received upon release, and so I tend not to edit those, but they kinda remain untouched after that. But if people adding these films like them, then it would be good if they developed them and then add them. If you need help, you can use the same template/format used on other articles like Kuruthipunal etc. that I have edited. :)

p.s. There are films in this category that I like, that were added by other users months ago and their articles are not very well developed, they've remained untouched, and I still haven't gotten around to editing them, which goes to show.... Anyway, Keep editing! :)Cookie90 13:25, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

KEep going!

edit

Don't please delete films like Guru, Nala Damayanthi, Taalam they are all tamil films

Hi

edit

Hi there. Thanks for replying. Taalam was actually dubbed from the Hindi version, and we don't make articles for these films, but what you can do is state on the Hindi film article that the film was also released in Tamil as Taalam. :) As for Guru, there are conflicting reports on the language of this film, but I think this looks likely to be a Hindi film, also released later in Tamil and Telugu. So, like with the example mentioned before, we tend not to include the film in this category, but state it will also be released in the other languages on the article itself. Like with films like Muthu, Roja, Bombay, Minsaara Kanavu, Kadhalan, Indian etc. These are all Tamil films released in other languages like Hindi, Marathi, Telugu etc., and these languages are stated on the articles. Separate articles for the Hindi version etc. are not made. :)

If the film was remade completely from a previous language with cast variations etc., then a new article for this film can be made. Take for instance, Nayak, a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Mudhalvan; Saathiya, a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Alaipayuthey; Virasat, a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Thevar Magan, and Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Minnale etc. :) Upcoming Tamil films that look likely to be remade in Hindi include Autograph etc. and there will probably be separate articles made for them. :)

As far as Tamil film articles you have created, please bear my advice and consider using articles like Kuruthipunal, Indian etc. as templates to develop these articles to a detailed standard before adding them to the category. If you just put the cast and crew and stub it, these articles tend to remain that way for a long time. Ok. Happy editing. If you need help ask. M.arunprasad is a frequent editor of film articles. He can also help you out. Cookie90 08:45, 7 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Rule of Thumb

edit

If the film was dubbed and then released, don't include it in the category of the language it was dubbed into. If the film was remade and released, then you can include the different films in their different categories.

Use Boys as a template for other films

Template

edit

Hi. :) Use whatever film as a template as long as it is to a detailed standard. And try and focus on art house/commercial films that are critically acclaimed more than the standard masala films that aren't received as well. Thanks. :) Cookie90 11:59, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

p.s. I'm flattered you've made the Boys article using my templates. Keep editing. It looks good. Cookie90 12:02, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Develop rather than create

edit

Hi. Rather than create lots of new articles, focus on developing any film articles you've created so far to a better standard. Thanks. :) Whilst it's great that you're creating, you should reduce the rate you do it so you stub articles less, and you have more time to develop existing articles. Films you can develop include Kadhalan and Minnale. And a rule of thumb, a cast table/cast and crew list are not always necessary, as the info boxes on the articles usually give these details, and that's one of the reasons why the imdb link is provided. Some of the earlier articles have them and thats fine, but it's not completely necessary to include them in future articles. Happy editing. Cookie90 12:18, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

We can add the Cast and Crew, if the Imdb doesn't have it. Also in Info box we can have them. Please check the complete info box parameters here info box parameters here --M.arunprasad 10:22, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes. That's what I'm suggesting. If it's already available, there is little point in adding it twice. I am aware of the parameters of an infobox. Thanks. :) Cookie90 18:02, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Altering messages

edit

Please don't alter any messages on Talk pages. That's vandalism :) If you need any more help don't hesitate to ask. To become better wikipedians, we all need to admit that sometimes we make mistakes, and thats how you learn. Happy editing. :) Cookie90 18:00, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
