Surname order? edit

Are songs in this category meant to be in order of surname of first name?  Thorpe talk 19:14, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

That seems to be the consensus. However, not everyone knows how to do this. One way is to add the following code to the category's page: {{DEFAULTSORT:Adams, Bryan}}. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 20:39, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Song covers edit

If an artist or band covers a song, should the song be categorized under both the original artist and the one who did the cover version? (On a related note, would the song be categorized under singles by year for each year someone released a version?) -- Gyrofrog (talk) 22:30, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I had a related question here, and haven't got any answer yet. — Mayast (talk) 12:57, 18 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
To my mind, it makes most sense to do this when there is significant material about that artist's version in the article, as opposed to a one-sentence mention or an entry in a list. Usually when this is the case, you will see two infoboxes within the same song's article. Others have suggested that you should only include it in the category if it was released as a single. That said, there doesn't appear to be guideline or consensus on the issue, so do what you think would be most helpful. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 20:48, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
