C. P. Ramsdell (c. 1825 to September 16, 1882)[1] was a newspaper founder, U.S. marshal,[2] and state legislator in Pennsylvania[3] and Virginia.[4] He was a Republican. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1871 to 1873.[5] He lived in Surry County, Virginia.[6]

He was born in Otsego County, New York.[4]

He wrote to U.S. president Abraham Lincoln in 1861 in support of an appointment for Lloyd Jones Esq.[7] He published and edited the Venango Citizen and served in the Pennsylvania Legislature.[8] He was elected Assistant Clerk of the Pennsylvania Senate.[9]

He served as U.S. Marshal for the eastern district of Virginia.[10] He was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia but lost to Robert E. Withers.[4][11] He advocated for immigration to Virginia.[12]
