- Teahouse serves over 700 new editors in six months on Wikipedia! Since February 27, 741 new editors have participated at the Teahouse. The Q&A board and the guest intro pages are more active than ever.
- Automatic invites are doing the trick: 50% more new editors visiting each week. Ever since HostBot's automated invite trial phase began we've seen a boost in new editor participation. Automating a baseline set of invitations also allows Teahouse hosts to focus on serving hot cups of help to guests, instead of spending countless hours inviting.
- Guests to the Teahouse continue to edit more & interact more with other community members than non-Teahouse guests according to six month metrics. Teahouse guests make more than twice the article edits and edit more talk pages than other new editors.
- New host process implemented which encourages anyone to get started as a Teahouse host in a few easy steps. Stop by the hosts page and become a Teahouse host today!

Need editing help
I really need some help. My submission has been rejected 5 times (is this a record?).
Comments, and my response:
"submission appears to read more like an advertisement.....". The submission shows no product and includes no advertising literature.
"refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources.....". The submission has 13 references, and includes peer-reviewed books, NYT articles, U.S. Government reports, and an MIT article. Company reports are SEC filings and/or financial announcements, and are included because they give audited figures for the growth of the service.
The submission is a report of a company that is no longer in existence but it and its founders were important in the development of a service that has impacted the lives of millions of people--a service that is continuing as part of the acquiring organization.Postibus (talk) 19:32, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Those and them
Hey ukexpat, it is just for my knowledge that I want to be sure relating your this edit. As I know it is very common in British English! It's non-standard and dialectical, but can be found all over the country. Even if it is mostly connected with Northern accents, it's a very common feature of speech in South West. It doesn't make you sound uneducated at all if it's used in speech and not written English. But you changed that in the written article of wikipedia. I do not say you are wrong but that is not appropriate as the standards of the wikipedia?. I do realy not claim to be master of anything. When you say "Lynch went on to attend various colleges but never graduated from any of them". If you add next "colleges", the sentence will be so, "but never graduated from any of (them) colleges. Hello, I need your help! I cannot sybmit an article - Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Lehmann Aviation, Ltd. I tried 4 times, made all the necessary changes (put the reference to "reliable source", the owner of the images that i wanna use on this page sent an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. stating that he allows to use all the files etc). - From a quick read it still looks too promotional in tone and the references still in my view do not support notability. As for the image, as soon as the permissions team confirm that the permission is OK, they will tag the image accordingly. I have to ask why you are so concerned about this article - are you writing it on behalf of, or otherwise connected with, the company? Thanks for a quick answer! Sorry to bother you again. English is not my mother language so i really cant understand how the article is promotional, i mean what exactly (could you give me an example??)?? Why the references are not ok? We have some magazines that wrote about us but nothing more so far, so what can i refer to? which references are needed?? And to be honest the owner sent the email about the images 10 days ago.. - It just reads like it was copied straight from the company's website. For example, an encyclopedic article would omit the product specifications and "mission statement". The permissions team are all volunteers so it can take some time for e-mails to be processed.--ukexpat (talk) 18:23, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

- I changed the text for it to look more encyclopedic style - just the facts. I also took the mission out. I left some product specifications because, as i saw other UAV articles, this is what the authors leave.. I believe it's purely encyclopedic information for people interested in UAVs and in Lehmann Aviation in particular. As for the images, you guys have all the permissions from the pics owner - the founder of the company.

Tom Kline
Hi – To answer your questions – Yes, my name is Bob Zausner. Yes, I work for Tom Kline, and am also a friend. (I wrote a book about a case of his while on leave as a Philadelphia Inquirer reporter, then later left the newspaper to work on his website.) Yes, I, along with Dawn Kudgis in Tom Kline’s office, wrote the bio that we submitted.
But I need to assure you there is and was no attempt to deceive anyone at Wikipedia – I imagine we could have given the bio to a third party to submit if that was our aim -- or to use your site for promotional purposes. (I’m not even sure how his being on Wikipedia would help his law practice. His firm already has a vast Internet presence for people looking for personal injury lawyers.)
The genesis of our submission was simple: A while back we noticed that some of Tom’s fellow lawyers were on Wikipedia – from the Inner Circle alone there are about a dozen, including Don Keenan, Robert Clifford, Fred Levin, Joe Littlepage, Tom Strong, Thomas Demetrio, Joel Cunningham, Mike Ciresi, Alexander Blewett … So we decided to also submit Tom’s name (he was president of the Inner Circle). It didn’t seem farfetched that he be in Wikipedia. He truly is one of the most famous lawyers in Philadelphia. Anyway, we contacted Wikipedia and were told that Wikipedia does not write bios but that they must be submitted. (Believe me, it would have been easier to simply mention his name and let the good folks at Wikipedia independently decide if he deserved to be on the site and then write a bio.) Dawn and I were given some basic instructions, looked at some other bios, and off we went … I honestly didn’t know we were doing anything wrong or something that might be considered a conflict of interest.
Regardless of who wrote the bio, note that everything in it is backed by fact and can be independently verified. And if my writing the bio somehow taints it, then I’m sure someone else would be willing to write and submit one (Tom really is well-known and well-liked in Philly). But rest assured that everything written in the bio is true and accurate. And please believe me that this is not a ploy to promote or get business for a law firm. We just felt that such a prominent lawyer and Philadelphian belonged on Wikipedia.
In any event, I’ve toned down the bio – it is thoroughly straightforward and unembellished -- and will resubmit it for your review. However, if Wikipedia decides, using objective criteria, that Tom Kline does not merit being included on its pages, then so be it.
Please let me know what you decide.

- Go ahead and resubmit following the instructions in the review box. But the very fact that you work for the subject puts you in in a conflict of interest so your edits will receive greater scrutiny. Also the the fact that other local lawyers have articles (and yes I know of many of them too, I am a lawyer in Delaware) does not count for anything. We look at each article and the notability of the subject (as we use that term on Wikipedia) on its own merits not based on other articles.--ukexpat (talk) 15:34, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation newsletter
Hey Ukexpat. This will be, if not our final newsletter, one of the final ones :). After months of churning away at this project, our final version (apart from a few tweaks and bugfixes) is now live. Changes between this and the last release include deletion tag logging, a centralised log, and fixes to things like edit summaries.

Truphone
The changes I made to the Truphone page are required because the organisation used to exist as Truphone, switched to Tru and has now reverted back to Truphone. Unfortunately, because the page 'Truphone' previously existed and just redirected to the Tru page, I couldn't create a new Truphone page. As Tru doesn't exist any more, but the history remains the same and I cannot create a new 'Truphone' page - but need it to redirect back to Truphone, if you could explain how one is supposed to make a fundamentally basic change, I'd be most appreciative. GOCE September 2012 drive wrap-up
| Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. If you're the person that sent me a message about Michael Gambon you should know he's an Irish actor not an english one. So I'm not sure why you keep changing his nationality when i edit the page. I understand just because you're "born in a stable it doesnt make youa horse" but the man is Irish so make sure it is kept that way, it would be like me saying J.k. Rowling is Scottish because she lives in Scotland or somethingalong those lines. If your going to make false claims I'l be sure and change them. - He was born in Dublin during WW2, on the 19th of October, 1940, to be precise. Dark days, indeed, but still fun for an infant surrounded by a large extended family. Come the end of the war, when Michael was 5, it made sense that his father, an engineer, should cross the Irish Sea and find work amidst the rebuilding of London. Thus the family, including Michael and his seamstress mother, took up residence near Mornington Crescent, north London. Unbeknownst to Michael, his father would take out official papers for him, making him an English citizen - a fact that would later allow him to be awarded a CBE and a knighthood.

- For the record as you have accused me of making threats I would like you to know that I wasn't, merely pointing out that if his nationality is Irish you should not try and claim him as english. Furthermore block me all you want as i have done nothing wrong in fact I'm quite right in changing his nationality to Irish when you claim he is not.. I appreciate he may be a citizen of britain but that does not mean his nationality is british, it's really not that difficult to understand that if his parents are Irish and he was born in dublin and lived there until he was 5, he is clearly Irish.. - The Irish/English thing has been discussed at Talk:Michael Gambon and the consensus is that English is correct. So if you have a different view, please discuss it there. I assume that you are aware that all your attempts at labelling subjects of other articles "Irish" have been reverted too? I suggest that you find some other area of Wikipedia where you can contribute more constructively because pursuing this is just wasting time for everyone.--ukexpat (talk) 18:40, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

I agree that the original version was inappropriately self-promotional. I had nothing to do with it. But while I try to improve this entry, purging it of fluff,I keep coming back to find OrangeMike erasing my work and inserting inaccurate information.

What is going on?
Sanchez was not born in Los Gatos, but at the Oakland Naval Hospital in 1944, three months after his father was killed in the Pacific - but not in World War One, but World War Two.
I do appreciate the offers of help, however I would like to be able to work without being derailed every 30 minutes.

Author Thomas Sanchez’s Wikipedia page entry
All the work I have been doing for two days has been erased by OrangeMike, whose “talk” link does not work as yours does. (I cannot find any place to respond to his messages.)
Sanchez lives in Paris. I live in LA. I am not in his employ, but I am a friend. I am, however, a working journalist who well knows the problem of bias.
I have been steadily paring down the entry, sharing Wikipedia guidelines with Sanchez by email to bring him up to speed on my changes.
But now two days’ worth of my work has been destroyed by OrangeMake, who inexplicably keeps reinserting incorrect information about Sanchez’s birthplace.
I am completely at a loss to fathom by what presumed right this is being done -- and done incorrectly insofar as content.

Got it. But why mess up a bare-bones page with all this? Why not send the instructions to me rather than dominate the page with a banner? And, for the record, while I do know Sanchez, I am not his flack, merely a friend trying to help him get it right. The notion of a “conflict of interest” galls me. In my case it is 100 percent inappropriate - untrue - without basis in fact. Indeed I was the first to suggest to Mr. Sanchez that his entry was inappropriate, and offered to help him conform to Wikipedia guidelines. I am learning too - a newbie. Request re Sanchez page
Sanchez has recently directed a film that has been release, is in production of a documentary produced in France, and is in pre-production for a feature film based on one of his novels, also produced in France. Citations for all these will be provided.
I would like, therefore, to update the title of his page to “writer, film director.” But I have been unable to determine how to do this.
If you could do it, I would be grateful.

- There is no need to do that, nor does it comply with Wikipedia conventions. The stuff in parentheses is there only to distinguish this Thomas Sanchez from Thomas Sanchez. Per the naming conventions, disambiguating titles should be as simple as possible, so it should remain at Thomas Sanchez (writer).--ukexpat (talk) 19:07, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation newsletter - closing up!
Hey all :).
We're (very shortly) closing down this development cycle for Page Curation. It's genuinely been a pleasure to talk with you all and build software that is so close to my own heart, and also so effective. The current backlog is 9 days, and I've never seen it that low before.
However! Closing up shop does not mean not making any improvements. First-off, this is your last chance to give us a poke about unresolved bugs or report new ones on the talkpage. If something's going wrong, we want to know about it :). Second, we'll hopefully be taking another pass over the software next year. If you've got ideas for features Page Curation doesn't currently have, stick them here.

WikiProject:Articles for Creation October - November 2012 Backlog Elimination Drive
WikiProject AFC is holding a one month long Backlog Elimination Drive!
The goal of this drive is to eliminate the backlog of unreviewed articles. The drive is running from October 22, 2012 – November 21, 2012.
Awards will be given out for all reviewers participating in the drive in the form of barnstars at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 1000 articles, so start reviewing articles! Visit the drive's page and help out!

Intent to edit and update "Landor Associates" entry
New message written 25 October 2012
I, Trevor Wade, work at Landor Associates as director of digital marketing. I am going to edit and updated the "Landor Associates" entry later today. I acknowledge that I have a conflict of interest because I work for Landor Associates. However, I am trying with the best of intentions to craft an informative, accurate, and neutral portrait of Landor Associates. This is the second time I have attempted to do so. The first time my efforts were rejected. I have since tried to better understand the rules of Wikipedia and hope my learnings result in a better entry. Since the first time I tried, two well-researched articles on Walter Landor and Landor Associates have also been written, giving me better sources to cite. Please let me know if there are parts of this entry that you would like me to modify. I welcome any suggestions you have to make "Landor Associates" an informative and neutral entry.
If my copy is accepted, my next step will be to upload photos from Landor history.
