Andhra Pradesh

I was fixing some vandalism and noticed Andhra Pradesh was split in two. Part of the vandalism was Hyderabad not being the current capitol of Andhra Pradesh. I looked at several pages, including Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, but none says why they were split in two. It also says it was controversial, but not why it was. What's up? Bgwhite (talk) 07:58, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

  • Hello Bgwhite, Hyderabad is the joint capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for 10 years. The reason of dividing the state has a long history. You may read this. Just a few days ago, I had a long chat with a friend on it (from Hyderabad, Telugu Wikipedian), I may ask him to look at it, if you want, Regards. --Tito Dutta (talk) 14:30, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
  • It is something that intrigues me and I couldn't find an answer. Things like this usually come down to politics and money. What's actually best is an afterthought. The article you gave didn't say much, but it sounds like the usual suspects are involved. Bgwhite (talk) 04:46, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Template

Hi Tito, I have seen you doing many wonderful stuff with templates, especially those related to the Kitchen of WikiProject India. I notice there is no generic template on "Indian State topic". If you look at, say, Bibliography of India, it transcludes the Template:Asia topic (with appropiate modifications) and so it creates a bunch of redlinks of "Bibliography of Asia" without having to create the template in itself.

Looking around I found out:

There are probably some other templates which I missed but this are the major ones. All of them can easily be superseded by an "Indian State topic" template. I wonder if you will like to start such a template. Best regards. Solomon7968 22:18, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

File:Madonna - don't cry for me argentina.ogg

I was wondering would you please delete the old version of the sample? The current version is not appearing due to this. I have purged the cache also. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 05:09, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

  • let's wait till 5 September. --Tito Dutta (talk) 08:13, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

Kalpavriksha

It has been suggested that Kalpavriksha be merged with Wish Tree which is not desirable as Kalpavriksha is specific to Indian religious cosmology of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. Wish tree also covers many other aspects like wells etc. Pl record your views on the talk page of the two articles.--Nvvchar. 08:01, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

Cut Like Wound has been nominated for Did You Know

I have copy edited the artcile. I am unable to find a suitable hook in view of the last comment striking the original hook. Will you please suggest an alternate hook and take it from here?--Nvvchar. 01:23, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
  • There is lot of criticism about the hook. The first author also added lot of text after my posting the article. If you can find some interesting text to add and suggest an alternate interesting hook, pl do so immediately. Otherwise, I will withdraw the nomination tomorrow.--Nvvchar. 09:26, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Please see the note under the relevant DYk template and see if you can substantiate the ALT2 Hook text in the article so that I can record a positive reply.--Nvvchar. 17:02, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Thanks for adding The Gurdian reference. --Tito Dutta (talk) 08:25, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

CVUA

Hi. The Counter Vandalism Unit is still very much an active project and users regularly ask for training. Please take a moment to update your trainer details at Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit/Academy/Instructors. If you are currently unable or no longer interested in being a trainer, either move your details to the list of inactive trainers or remove them entirely. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks.--Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:57, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

  • I have updated, and will check back shortly. Thanks for your message. --Tito Dutta (talk) 05:56, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that anyone with access to nonpublic information sign the new confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 22 December 2015) to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have access to nonpublic information and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. The general confidentiality agreement is now ready, and the OTRS agreement will be ready after 22 September 2015. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 22 December 2015) to retain your access to nonpublic information. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation
