Topic info in this article

I've been working on editing the article, and in the process have been questioning the amount of content about issues (Sharia law, female genital mutilation, etc.) that is, or should be, covered in the main article. I'm not quite sure why the information is here.

Does anyone have an opinion about whether or not this material should be included?--CaroleHenson (talk) 03:34, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Hardly a serious Wikipedia article in this form

As this article largely consists of extensive (and unmarked) quotations from its subject's website, I think it should either be thoroughly rewritten, or be completely deleted. Hereticus obstinatus (talk) 19:37, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Suggestion: Move referenced info into appropriate articles and rework what's left.

I probably won't be able to do this myself, so all I can do is suggest this here.

Removing Sharia Law section or sourcing it well

Looking at the AHA website, they seem to focus on 3 areas:

• Female Genital Mutilation

• Forced Marriage and Child Marriage

• Honor Violence

We can see this because the website posts fact sheets for these issues.

When you hover over "Issues" on that page it also lists the above three topics.

There's really little mention of Sharia Law on their website, mostly just in op-eds by Ali herself. It's also not clear what work the group does in order to combat Sharia Law, and the section doesn't have a single source which mentions the AHA at all.

Anyone have better sources? If not, I will remove the section.Mavriksfan11 (talk) 09:46, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Little mention? You mean the 116 search hits for Sharia on their website? [1]. Not to mention copious writings from the founder - [2] [3].Icewhiz (talk) 09:54, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

By this criteria we should also include a section on "Islam" since it has 414 search hits on her website [4]. The criteria for the section called "Areas of Concern" is that it be listed under "Issues" on the website of the Foundation. That's a criteria every inclusion meets but this one. When you hover over "Solutions" the Foundation conducts a training program for Professionals to help them deal with "Honor Violence and Forced Marriage" as well as "FGM/C" but do they offer one for Sharia Law? No, because it's not an area they claim to work on. They also don't list Sharia Law under their advocacy page anywhere (but FGM/C and Honor Violence and Forced/Child Marriage are all there). If Ali has written articles about Sharia Law, that's great, but unless she has originally published them through the AHA or unless other AHA staffers are writing them, then it is not related to this page and it is related to the page for Ayaan Hirsi Ali. In all honesty though, this whole page needs to be rewritten as it has little sources and doesn't actually outline the Foundation's actions or what it does. I will perhaps take on that task later. I agree with Mavriksfan11 that Sharia Law is not a direct area of concern, but, according to the updated website of the AHA Foundation, the ideology of Islamism is. Owing to the fact that the discussion has become dormant, and no one opposed Mavriksfan11's last post, I will remove the Sharia Law section. I will attempt to add the issue of Islamism later as an area of concern to the AHA Foundation. Jeroen1961 (talk) 09:14, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
