Question from Climatelabel (08:48, 10 December 2023)

Hi Tiger, In my 1st edit for a long time just a few moments ago I was frustrated at the character limitation in the explain why you made this change box. I had to edit important elements of my explanation, making the statement less clear. I hope the explanation will still be fairly assessed. Regards Climatelabel --Climatelabel (talk) 08:48, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello, @Climatelabel! Yes; there is an approximate 500-character limit, so that's why there is a character limitation. Nonetheless, your edit summary seems fine. ~ Tails Wx 15:09, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Happy belated birthday!

Thanks, @ChrisWx! Yeah, yesterday's tornado outbreak is unfortunate. Related to that, thanks for your work on the draft of yesterday's tornado outbreak, I'm also helping out as well as it is likely article-worthy. ~ Tails Wx 16:21, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
You're welcome! I think it's 100% article-worthy, so I wanted to help out with the making of the article. Hoping everyone can recover soon. ChrisWx 🌀 (talk - contribs) 16:39, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from Mrebibo (17:39, 10 December 2023)

Hello, I want to create a wikipedia page on a person. They all seem similar so is there a template? --Mrebibo (talk) 17:39, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello, @Mrebibo! The prose itself does not have a template, but the infobox on a person ({{Infobox person}}, link is Template:Infobox person) is a template, along with the reference list ({{reflist}}, Template:Reflist). One piece of advice is, prior to creating the article/draft, ask yourself, does the person meet notability guidelines for biographies? Do you have a conflict-of-interest with the subject? If the latter, follow the procedures of declaring your conflict-of-interest. I recommend starting a draft on the subject if you're unsure of the subject satisfying notability guidelines. Otherwise, happy editing! ~ Tails Wx 18:31, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Quick note about copypatrol

Hi!

Just wanted to follow up on our conversation from a few months back. Since then, the instructions on meta:copypatrol have been updated in to state [i]f you fixed the problem, tagged the page for revision deletion, or tagged the page for deletion as a copyright violation, mark it as "Page fixed", pursuant to this discussion. This was a change from the previous instructions, which simply stated [i]f you fixed the problem or tagged the page for deletion as a copyright violation, mark it as "Page fixed".

I was on copypatrol the other day and I encountered a few copyright violations that you had remedied by tagging them for revision deletion. Thank you for taking the time to help out with this. I also noticed that for some of them, such as this one, you hadn't marked them as "Page Fixed" on copypatrol. I've gone ahead and marked these sorts of entries as "Page Fixed" for you in recent cases.

Going forward, when you tag a page for revision deletion based on a copypatrol entry, would you please also mark the page as "page fixed" in copypatrol, in line with the updated instructions?

Again, thank you so much for helping out with copypatrol and for all you do on Wikipedia.

Cheers!

Red-tailed hawk (nest) 18:17, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi, @Red-tailed hawk! Thanks for the follow-up, and yes, I’ll also mark the page as “Page fixed” as well after tagging for revision deletion or G12. Thanks for the heads-up! ~ Tails Wx 18:23, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from CityofdecaturIA (08:49, 20 December 2023)

I'm the city clerk for the City of Decatur, Iowa. Recently, we finally got around and had the Iowa Secretary of State fix our city's incorrect name in their records to match all other state and federal agencies. I have written proof from the voters within the city and from the Iowa Secretary of State's office we are the city of Decatur and NOT the city of Decatur city. I've updated what I could on the wikipage but can't change the heading or the link from Decatur City to Decatur. How can I edit the heading/title and the link to our city? If I can't do it, who do I contact that can do this update? Thank you.... Scott --CityofdecaturIA (talk) 08:49, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi Tails Wx, I just saw your RfA and had a quick look at my contributions to this page here. I sent a green holiday barnstar to StarTrekker before; you get one in orange.   Thanks for volunteering and good luck! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:25, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
Hi there, ToBeFree! Thanks for the orange barnstar and your support. You chose the right color for the barnstar; I'm very fond of the color orange and it's my favorite color. :) ~ Tails Wx 01:30, 25 December 2023 (UTC)
I've been playing Sonic Robo Blast 2, a fangame and my first Sonic game, since Final Demo 1.04 (~2003-2005). Tails was always orange for me, but I was unsure as your userpage title is yellow and the Wikipedia article about Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog) says something in that direction too. The orange barnstar is much more beautiful than File:Barnstar_yellowish_green.png, which I had found first, in my opinion. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:35, 25 December 2023 (UTC)
Ooh, nice! Definitely a fun game, hopefully the game's been a fun experience for you as well! The orange barnstar fits better than the yellowish-green colored barnstar, I concur with ya that the orange barnstar is much more beautiful than the other. And also, Happy New Year and happy holidays to you as well! :) ~ Tails Wx 02:08, 25 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from JustinDCC on The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong (06:43, 28 December 2023)

Hello, may I know what would be the best ways to start editing please? Does updating US to UK English count? --JustinDCC (talk) 06:44, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello, @JustinDCC! You may start by fixing the issues noted on the top of the article, placed in a maintenance template. One issue I immediately spot is that both references in the article are primary references, and a large portion of the article is unsourced. Adding reliable, secondary sources would fix those issues. Regarding the suggested change in the national variety of English on that article, I think the change is okay, considering that the first author used British English and the article is an international topic, with the creation in this edit. Happy editing, and don't hesitate to ask any further questions! ~ Tails Wx 17:04, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

By the authority vested in me by myself I present you with this award in recognition of your withdrawing your RfA nomination. I imagine that it was a very difficult thing to do, and your doing it took my breath away in admiration. Here's hoping that the bruises heal, the bad memories fade and that we see you back there again. Gog the Mild (talk) 22:47, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

RfA

Just saw your withdrawal at RfA earlier. I just wanted to say as a fellow Wikipedian don't feel like this is a failure or something but rather see this as a learning experience. Sometime later on, try reading over your RfA and see what areas you can improve on. I definitely believe that you can- and will- be a great admin one day, it's just that the some of the community decided that you need to brush up on some policy knowledge and appplication for now. Anyways, thanks for being brave enough to step up at RfA in the first place. Remember, some of the best folks in our mop corps did not pass RfA the first (or second or more, in some cases) time round and who knows, in the future you might end up passing (I myself definitely see you succeeding, for sure). I know that I can't speak for your experiences 100% cause I haven't put myself forward at RfA, but know that I will be there for you and I have faith in you as an editor. Feel free to DM me on Discord or email me if you want to chat more. <3 Prodraxis (talk) 22:30, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

Withdrawing at 80% with only ~36 hours left shows character. I still supported and was going to go back and comment to that effect. You'd make a decent enough admin now in my opinion, but with a bit more experience you could be an outstanding one. Happy to chat if you want, now or in the future. A barnstar for you!

  The Special Barnstar
For stepping up at RFA. I hope you try again in a year. Scorpions1325 (talk) 22:08, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
I second this. Please try again when you feel capable: not quite yet isn't a flat-out rejection, it's an invitation for a later date. Schminnte [talk to me] 22:15, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

We believe in you!

Thank you so much for participating in the RFA, Tails. I rooted for you so much and I am heartbroken over your withdrawal. We furries and aces must stick together! I promise that if you ever try your luck with the mop again, you can count on me!

Happy new year! <3 Brat Forelli🦊 11:37, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

What now?

Welcome to the club of folks who didn't pass the first time. No hard feelings. Get yourself back together (an RfA is wildly taxing) and then go back to what you were doing. Take a hard look at the feedback you received in the process and embrace it like when a friend mentions your shoe's come untied. You are unchanged. You are just as valuable to the pedia as you were before. More, even. Takes a lot of gumption just to stand there and take a kicking. You've earned my respect because you have demonstrated your willingness to defer to the community and your commitment to improve. This is NOT a defeat. This is the next step. If you need help or would like to learn something new, ask. BusterD (talk) 14:07, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

  The Resilient Barnstar
Personally, I think that you are a resilient editor, not only because you continued working on the project even after you withdrew, but I'm confident that you'll learn from what the opposing votes said. The 🏎 Corvette 🏍 ZR1(The Garage) 15:50, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
