A Message about Sax

Heya, you left a message on my page ages ago i just haven't logged in for a while. Yeah I play Tenor Saxophone in 2 bands. One is a collection of all the wind and the brass in my school. We have 6 altos and one tenor (thats me!). I also play in a sax ensemble which is (well was until last week) 4 Altos, 1 Soprano and 1 Tenor (Me again!). We don't do anything in particular just whatever is available for 6 (well 4 cos we double up) parts. I'm not to good, working towards our grade 4, I don't know if it is the same in america.

Nice talking to you —Preceding unsigned comment added by BigYellowFlower (talkcontribs) 15:47, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

My talk page

Hi, nice to meet you. :) I notice you left a message on my talk page, addressed to TayGirl01. I think you might have sent it to the wrong person, just giving you a heads-up. JoeSchmoe714 (talk) 20:14, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Nice to have you here. Actually moved out of Franklin now, but still in the state. Also good idea about keeping real names and addresses private. One note, it's better to leave notes like that on the user talk page. (2nd tab over). When you do that it lets the user know they have a message. I'm going to add a welcome template here. It has some good links on how to edit. Good luck.--Cube lurker (talk) 17:10, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Signature

If you go to "My Preferences" at the top of the page, you'll see a section titled "User profile". It should be the section you're automatically brought to. If you look in the middle you'll see a section titled "Signature". Here you place a code that basically tells Wiki how you want your signature to look. My suggestion is to find a user who has a signature that you like and then copy the entire code on the screen - It would look like this: <small><span style="background:Maroon;color:Gold">  BIGNOLE </span></small> <small>(Contact me)</small> - and then play around with the details to get it more to your personal preference. When you're done, paste it in the box next to "Signature" and then click the "Raw signature" link below. After saving the changes the next time you put your 4 tildes (~) it will appear as the signature you created.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:12, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Tell me how you want it to look (show me another user's signature if it differs from mine in styling), and I'll try and create the code for you.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:15, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
You'll have to show me a page with his signature on it, because I checked his contributions and his latest contribution was in 2007 and the last time he signed his name it was a generic signature.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 01:48, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Any particular look to the signature? I can't do the flags, because Nathan really shouldn't have the flags (see WP:SIGNATURE for what your signature can contain..color is fine). Also, you don't have to create a new section every time you send me a message. Just reply to the same section you created.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:42, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok. Click here and then hit "Edit This Page". Copy the code for your signature and paste it where I told you to. This is the max that your signature could have. I couldn't put all the bells and whistles on it because there is a size limit for signatures and this one meets it. If you want it tweaked, just ask.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:11, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
No problem. I hope your editing experience goes well, and if you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:19, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm always up for a good conversation, if I know what I'm talking about.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:44, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm a guy, but none of that really matters on here (or anywhere else for that matter). Everyone earns the same respect from me.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 15:17, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Userboxes

Go to Wikipedia:Userboxes and click "Skip to Userbox gallery". They list all the different categories of userboxes you could want. Then copy and paste the code on to your user page. MrBlondNYC (talk) 19:09, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 13:40, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello

I'm Bignole's friend. He's pretty busy with a couple of jobs lately, so he's not on Wikipedia as much. I'd be happy to help you learn the ropes when it comes to editing on Wikipedia. Feel free to ask me any questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 17:17, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Erik got it right. I have a full time job, and a full time internship. I'm only ever home for a few hours most days. That's why even my responses to Erik and Paul are limited to a few lines lately. I'll always make sure to answer Wiki questions immediately, but sometimes I hold off on the general chit-chat till I have more than a few minutes to spare - this way the recipient has my full attention in my response. I don't mean to make you feel like I'm ignoring you.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 17:28, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I've befriended people through editing on Wikipedia. For example, Bignole, Alientraveller, and I worked together pretty often on Spider-Man 3 and The Dark Knight. We've branched out to our own projects, but we still correspond about each other's editing advice or opinions about new films. Try not to treat Wikipedia as social networking; just edit articles about topics that you like and see if you can't collaborate with other editors also working on these articles. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 17:48, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

About adminship, no, it is a small joke. Bignole and I work on The Dark Knight frequently, so we have high standards about the information that is included in the article. Neither of us are administrators. I know he doesn't want to be one. I'm not sure myself; I may be interested in the position to help WikiProject Films, but I prefer to be primarily an editor. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 17:50, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Of course I'll be your friend. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. I'll be happy to help you learn your way around Wikipedia. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 17:57, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
No worries. I think it's silly to act tough online. I try to treat people online as I would do in real life. Anyway, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask on my talk page. My only tip right now is to ask questions and read the help pages on Wikipedia. I've added some useful links at the top of your talk page so you can learn more. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:04, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I didn't realize how long you have been around. Have fun editing, then! :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:10, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
You don't know how to make a section? It's easy all you have to do is adding one line like this

Section heading
Hope I helped. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 18:13, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I tried to change your user page so all your userboxes are in one column on the right side. However, the pink doesn't go all the way to the bottom with the userboxes. Are you OK with this? I can change it back. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:16, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Calm down, the talk pages are public, so you shouldn't always be expecting to get answer from the person you asked. Oh, and I forgot to say, welcome to Wikipedia. I'm pretty sure you will be a great editor. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 18:18, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I changed it into three columns. Look for "GROUP 1" etc. and change these labels. You can also move the userboxes between columns. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:21, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, you are new so you should be surpriced, I will leave you and Erik alone to talk. Sorry I couldn't help. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 18:26, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

That looks great! I gave it a small tweak, so hopefully it's a bit better. :) Nice job! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 19:56, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Bignole fixed it. It has to do with having spaces at the beginning of a line. Like this:

No space before this sentence.

A space before this sentence.

You can see how it's formatted differently. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:01, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I was working on my project for class and scoping Wiki and saw your question to Erik - figured I'd help out.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:09, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Legal and ethical issues for social workers.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:14, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Not much!

It's my pleasure to help you out. I'm going out of town this weekend to attend a convention; I'm speaking on a couple of panels, and I'll see a few friends from around the country (like a little reunion). I just hope I packed everything; I go straight to the airport from work today. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 14:12, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

I know, I know... I should make a list, but I like to try to rely on my brainpower, which isn't 100%. So far, though, I don't think I've forgotten anything for my trip. I've racked my brains to see if I missed anything, but nothing so far. Of course, I'll probably wake up tonight and realize, "Dang, I forgot <MISSING ITEM>!" —Erik (talkcontrib) - 17:02, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
I am home now! It was such a good weekend... I already miss all the people I saw. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 02:40, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
I am sorry to hear about your friend's cousin. I hope you can be there for her. Thank you for the cookie; it is very much appreciated. I'm back at work now and wishing I was still on vacation. Though I will get the 4th of July off and set off some fireworks! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 14:29, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks.

I wish this was a real cookie and not an image of one. I really appreciate it. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 15:02, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello (2)

Hello! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 19:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

What happened today? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 19:13, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh, no... I'm sorry to hear that. That is not a good week to have. Were you accompanying her? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 19:17, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
I understand how bad you must feel. It really sucks to die that young. I know you miss him, it's sad to hear that somebody dies before reaching adulthood. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 19:24, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I did misunderstand. It's still sad... TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 19:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
You got a barnstar like you wanted. But sorry, I'm not a guy that gives out barnstars. I got other things to do. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 19:45, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
You're too late for that. You already gave out a cookie, which in my opinion does the same thing barnstar does. Shows respect. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 19:54, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much! It's my pleasure to guide you. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 19:55, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Not quite; see User:Erik/Awards. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 19:57, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, I've been on Wikipedia for a while, and I've done a lot of editing. It just builds up, you know? I'll put it on my page. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:05, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
I would but I don't know where it's located. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 13:29, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry to hear that. :\ I never had a dog, but I usually like them. There was actually a dog next door to me when I was younger that was kind of mean, and it hurt a kid that got too close to the fence. They had to send the dog away, so I somewhat know what you're talking about. When I get older, I plan to have dogs, though. I think studies show that pets like them improve one's quality of life. :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 13:43, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello, thank you for the barnstar! I must decline this particular one, though... I've already received a WP:FILM Barnstar, so I'm not sure if it can really be re-issued. If you notice anything that pleases you in my contributions, feel free to share a specific barnstar about a specific film. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:06, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, if I was in the dream you could have seen me exactly like who I am. I mean, I do make blogs on YouTube after all. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 14:44, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back!

Glad to see you back on Wikipedia! Did you have a good time on your vacation? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 13:47, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

That sounds like a great time! My best friend flew in this weekend from his internship up the coast, so we did some stuff on the beach and went inland to roam the city. I know driving can be a pain; when my internship is over, I have to drive just as far to get back home before I start school this fall. By the way, I was wondering, are you a Twilight fan? I've noticed a lot of press for the new film, and you seemed to be in that age group. The film article might be something you could work on, if you're interested! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 13:53, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Somewhere between middle school and college, I'd say. :) Are there any articles that you may want to try your hand at writing? I'll be happy to dig up reliable sources for you to use. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 14:01, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
No, I'm not a Twilight fan, but I've been curious about the trend. There are some trends that have formed among young people since I've aged, like Spongebob, Hannah Montana, and Twilight. It makes me feel like an adult, thinking, "I can't keep up with what kids like these days!" I'm going to be a graduate student this fall, so I'm not in the age group. I'm thinking about expanding the film article, though, for the benefit of fans who are anticipating the film. That's why I work on articles on recent films... a lot of eyes are on them, and I get to share the information I find, like at Hancock or Hellboy II: The Golden Army. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 14:10, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
What does BFFL stand for? TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 14:16, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
You're actually wrong about that, not everyone you've talked to on Wikipedia is a boy. I'm a man, an adult. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 15:01, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
I can like whatever the hell I feel like. Besides I'm a Pokémon fan for life. If you think Pokémon is childish you clearly haven't seen stuff like Bob the Builder, Pokémon has a lot of action in it. And I like that. Also the creatures are powerful and have awesome powers. PG makes stuff for all ages, it doesn't make it limited to children and teenagers. Don't worry, I'm not taking anything you said personally. But believe me I'm a fan of many R-rated movies, Pokémon might be my main hobby, but I simply love R-rated movies.
Well, since you don't like it I removed that statement, we don't have to talk about it. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 16:01, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

I know a few female editors on Wikipedia, but I'm not sure if I know any girls. :) Sorry to hear that you were called that... it's pretty inappropriate considering that editors don't really know one another on Wikipedia. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 16:26, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

It's nice of him/her. I really have nothing else to say about that. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 16:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't know what you thought I meant, but I did mean that the person who called me hot. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 17:16, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: hi [2]

Sounds good! I may be busy with some responsibilities this morning; need to see what my supervisor has for me. Hope you enjoy the film! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 12:51, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I will do that. :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 12:57, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I think you need more exposure. You can do this by editing articles and commenting on talk pages about how to improve articles. Your name will show up in page histories, and maybe other editors will visit your user page. You may want to see about moving the guestbook up, too... it's further down, and not everyone may scroll down. Just a suggestion! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 13:15, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I wish I could help, but I'm not quite that good at designing such a layout. You can tell that my user page is pretty simple. Maybe you could look at other editors' user pages and figure out how their layouts work. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 13:23, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Shoutbox

How is it?  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:22, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Hope it all works out. Enjoy. Here is the link to the page so you can save it - User:Soccer5525/shoutbox  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:36, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
What are you talking about, I'm the second person on your guestbook.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:54, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh. Well, I basically used up my "hey what's up" comment in your shoutbox.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:05, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Go to the page that it links to and search for "cake" on the page. It should explain it all there.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:23, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I really don't think it matters, I was just curious. Anyway, it's a nice shoutbox you made there, I'm sure it's gonna turn out great. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 15:52, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you would deserve, because I don't keep up with all the barnstars. I've given out a few, but they were very specific things that occurred (like turning an entire page from B-class to FA class).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 15:58, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Have you got it under control per your request on my talk? -- penubag  (talk) 19:46, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, you just do it how I did it for your shoutbox. You create the page (example: User:Soccer5525/FILL IN NAME OF WHAT YOU WANT). Do whatever you want on that page and then to link to it from your user page you surround the name of the page with - instead of the usual . This will link to the page you created and display it on your user page, instead of just simply linking to its destination...which is what a simple bracket will do.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 15:26, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

signpost question

Hello, sorry I haven't replied. I usually see your posts when i'm at work, but too busy to reply. Then by the time I get home my mind's gone blank. On the signpost, I can give you more detailed instructions this evening when i'm not working, but here's the page if you want to try it on your own WP:Wikipedia_Signpost/Tools/Spamlist there's some instructions near the top. But as I said If you have trouble I'll try to help you out later.--Cube lurker (talk) 19:23, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm back online if you are, feel free to shoot me your question, be on for a bit.--Cube lurker (talk) 23:55, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
To be honest, i got an invitation, but never officially joined. I think you can volunteer without an invite, adding you're name to the bottom of the list at WP:WikiProject_Boston_Red_Sox/Members. But the person who invited me and the project founder is User:Jj137 you might drop him a note asking about the project.--Cube lurker (talk) 01:09, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Signpost usually gets delivered tuesday or wednesday, but sometimes it's late all depending on when the user who organizes it gets it finished.--Cube lurker (talk) 23:20, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Re:Red Sox WikiProject

Sure, feel free to add your name to this list. We can always use more Sox fans :)   jj137 (talk) 04:35, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey

You looked like a nice editor, so I just wanted to say hi! Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 10:05, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Well I saw your name quite a lot on Bignole's talk page (I'm friends with him too), and I thought I'd say hi! About me, well:
 • I'm a guy, and I live in Australia
 • I'm older than you, though not by much
 • I love soccer too!
 • Not that into frogs, though I like dogs
Well there you have it, a bit about me. :-) Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 13:40, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh, lol, but you can't believe every userbox; can you? I'm from Australia, but not the outback. I live in the city, like you probably do. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 13:47, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
I see you want a barnstar! Basically all that happens is I set you a task, and once you complete it, I reward you with a barnstar. I'll give you your task in the next few days. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 13:54, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually I live in Melbourne! Waaaaaay better than Sydney. OK, your task is to assist in getting one article to GA status. Tell me if this is too hard, so I can give you another one. :-) Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 15:06, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, new task. Currently you have made 77 edits to the mainspace. Get this number to 250 and you will get a barnstar. Remember, no need to rush, take as long as you want. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 15:15, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, well good luck! Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 15:23, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Signature

In the code that you placed in your preferences you will see "Comic Sans MS". Replace that with the name of whatever font you want and it should work fine. Make sure you keep the quotation marks around the font name though, otherwise it won't work.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:37, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Looks nice, glad you got it to work.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:44, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll forward the compliment to Sasha in doggie-talk. As for the image, no you can't have it. Per WP:SIGNATURE, they are not allowed. If you go to that page and scroll down to "Images", it will provide you with the reasons why they are not allowed.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:04, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Bignole explained it. However, you may be able to add symbols. Just look at WP:SIGNATURE#Images. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 14:53, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the cookie... how did you know I love cookies? lol, anyways get working on those edits; a barnstar will be heading your way very soon if you do! :-) Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 14:32, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

150 it is! Oh yeah, do you know that that "talk" part of your signature is not working? It links to the wrong page. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 14:47, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Groovy font! Yeah I understand, life's busy... it's ok. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 14:56, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
lol, it's a funny word isn't it? Um...I hadn't though about it. What kind of barnstar would you like? Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 15:07, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure either, but I'll think about it. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 05:50, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Autograph Book Migration

Hello there Soccer, I saw your request on Erik's talk page and went ahead and moved the info for you; I hope you don't mind. Your autograph book is now located at User:Soccer5525/Autograph Book. Feel free to link it anywhere you like, and for more information on creating user subpages, check out Wikipedia:User page#How do I create a user subpage?. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have, if no one else is available. :) GlassCobra 00:08, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello again :) I'm afraid I don't know your cousin, there are quite a lot of people at my university. That's cool that she goes here, though. How are you liking Wikipedia so far? Anything that you need help with? GlassCobra 02:34, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
No, I'm not from Massachusetts, I just go to school here. I don't know where your town is, I'm not too familiar with the area outside the city. For future reference, though, you may want to be careful with disclosing information, like your cousin's name and your town. Anyone can look at Wikipedia pages, and you don't want random people having access to that. Anyway, let me know if you ever need help with anything. :) GlassCobra 17:03, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: I need your help

Hey there Soccer5525. That banner at the top of my userpage and talk page is actually an image custom-made for me. To get one for yourself, just ask Milk's Favorite Cookie (talk · contribs), who made mine. Happy editing! Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 21:03, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, he usually responds, so I'm assuming either he's busy with his current RfA or he hasn't seen your comment yet. If you don't get a response from him, Chetblong (talk · contribs) is the only other person that I know of that can create those banners. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 16:15, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey Soccer, I saw you trying to put a header like Chet's on this page just now, but you should know that it won't work like you want it to. Chet's banner is something that he designed personally for himself, it's an image with just his name. If you want something like his, I'm sure he'll be glad to help, but it's not something that Wikipedia does automatically. Good luck. :) GlassCobra 17:36, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Well,

The art of signing guestbooks is that you sign. And I had just signed a bunch of them. So I decided I wouldn't sign on that one. But I was only playing. I've now fixed it and I hope that helps! Cheers -- American Eagle (talk) 15:22, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for Signing

Thanks for signing my signbook. I probably would have signed yours also, but since you flatout asked, I am not going to do it. I am not trying to be rude but having a lot of signatures does not really mean anything. Sorry if this seemed rude :(. <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 19:12, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry. It's just my view is that if I were to stumble upon your autograph book, I would have signed it, cause I had contact with you. But I don't feel like I should sign it if asked. I don't mean to be rude at all, sorry. :( <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 01:50, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

thankyou for signing my guestbook

Your story

Wow, nice job, it was really compelling. Any criticisms? Umm, well here: "she had terrible culinary skills", the culinary is not really needed. Not everyone knows what it means and it just makes things unneccessarily complicated. Other than that, it was pretty good. Try showing it to Erik and Bignole (if you haven't already). They have pretty good eyes and will be able to give you some good tips. :-) Can't wait to see the rest! Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 07:35, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Lol, it's getting really interesting. How long left? Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 14:12, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Long time no see!

Hello, sorry for not responding to your greeting! I've been busy with a few things on Wikipedia and IRL. I've been pursuing a few major changes on Wikipedia and finishing up an internship report here at work. How about you? Do anything fun this past week? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 17:55, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

You have a great story so far! I think you write out the unfolding emotions of the protagonist very well. You've detailed the emergency response and have created an atmosphere of anxiety -- you've really made me uncertain of the outcome! Here are some suggestions I have:
 1. The first word of the story should be "It", not "I" :) First sentence can set the theme, so you should have the words spelled right.
 2. Add a number to "Primrose Boulevard", otherwise how can the ER team know exactly what house to go to?
 3. It seems that there is an overreaction to Pam; she really only asked one question and seemed to put the protagonist through pretty quickly. Just didn't seem like Pam didn't waste that much time to me.
 4. I'm not sure if it's common procedure for a police officer to just put someone in the car and drive off. Maybe stay at the house for a while?
 5. Also, why is the mother covered in plastic material? It makes me think she's in a body bag already, which seems indicative of the outcome already, so the scene of waiting in the hospital doesn't make sense.
You're off to a good start! Just think about how others would perceive situations like these. I'm not a writer, but I wish I was one... I have a dozen story ideas rattling around in my head. I'm too much of a perfectionist to put them down in words -- I want to get it right the first time, which I know is impossible. :) Keep up the good work and update me! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 14:25, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Considering that you and I don't know much about each other, and that you have been in touch with other editors like Bignole or GlassCobra, I don't think Leah sees the whole picture. I'm happy to help you wherever I can, but it seems a little unrealistic to be accused of having a wiki-crush for corresponding with someone who is trying to help you find a home on Wikipedia. I don't think I'm a better friend than Leah, though... all this is just online talk at the end of the day, and you and Leah are two people whose lives are interacting. I don't think you should have said that to her, so I'd suggest apologizing and explaining how you don't know me in person and that I am more of a guidance counselor (of sorts) than anything else. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 16:39, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

re: signature

I like the twelfth one down the best, but they all look cool anyway. :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:42, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I did. Makes me think of the movie Mean Girls. I hope you can work it out with your friend, though -- I know that people around your age are still growing up and trying to find their role among peers. (In other words, feeling more important than they are... college is a pretty humbling experience, in my opinion.) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:48, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
I hope you find a good path! Just find a college with a lot to do, and find internships related to your major during our summer. I've been to three different regions with my past three internships, including this one. It's a lot of great experiences to see what different places and people are like. Don't worry, the best is yet to come. :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 20:57, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
My major is information systems, so I'm a computer geek, basically. :) I'm a cinemaphile when it comes to editing Wikipedia, though. Any specific majors you have in mind yet? And your signature looks great! Really, go with whatever works for you. :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 21:02, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Did you get help? It certainly looks different on my talk page (pretty nice in fact).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:40, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

:Show me what the code for your signature currently is.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 17:29, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Duh. It should probably be something like this: <font face="Maiandra GD"><span style="color:white;background:Orange;border-style: double">♥Soccer5525♥</span><small>Talk To Me!</small></font>
If it says the raw signature has an error, then it means that it is probably too long and you'll have to see what you can live without. I just checked it on mine, and it should fit in there just fine.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 17:32, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
As always, it's no problem.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 18:07, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Is the "Raw signature" box checked or unchecked in "My Preferences". If it is unchecked, then go ahead and check it to see if that works. If that isn't the problem, have you tried re-copying the code above and pasting it back into the box?  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:46, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

re: this is terrible

What happened? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:18, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that happened. He clearly isn't right for you, acting like that. I know it hurts now, but I really encourage you to find the strength to move on. You have the right to grow up in your own way, and no one should make you feel inferior because of that. You don't sound stupid at all; you've been smart enough not to give in, so that's more power to you. Just remember, though, that this is not the end of the world. At your age, people are growing up at different rates, some faster than they need to. You just have to work your way through the masses and socialize with the people who respect you for who you are. Life goes on, ultimately. :) Believe me, the things that happened in high school rarely follow you when you move on to the world at large. I'm sorry that you got hurt, and I hope that you feel better. Just acknowledge that it happened, that you did not do anything wrong, and move on. Figure out where to go from here, OK? If you need anything, though, I'm here to talk. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:33, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm glad what I said made you feel better. :) I think Madison and Ryan are just young and naive. Hopefully, they will grow up, but right now, they're not people you need in your life. Let them be. Don't talk badly about them if you don't have to... if someone wants to know your perspective of them, be honest, you know? I hope your day is a little better. Just keep busy with other things... if it comes back to your mind, just acknowledge that you thought about it, push the thought away, and go on doing something else. That's how I deal with bad stuff, anyway. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:43, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
OK, thank you for letting me know. Have a good vacation. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:49, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Yeah, wow, the opening ceremony was great! I wasn't gonna watch it (the Athens one was pretty crap) but it turned out to be really good. Gotta hand it to the Chinese, it was really smart and the acrobats were amazing. Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 03:03, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

The next one will be in London. Yeah, my signature before was a tribute to The Dark Knight, and know it's more of a bright coloured one. I plan to change the colours every few months or so.... maybe I'll change it to Olympic colours. Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 08:48, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Wow, junior year. Well I don't know what it's like because I never went to school... jokes, I live in Australia, so there is no junior year here. Sounds fun though... Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 02:24, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm, how about deciding on a theme? E.g. supernatural things, murder, betrayal, romance; something that follows a certain theme. That always helps me. Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 06:27, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back

I'm glad you had a good trip and your film went over well. I've been busy myself, graduating from college (though, I have to go back in 2 weeks to start a new degree). I haven't been watching the Olympics; not one of my priorities.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 12:33, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back! Glad to hear you enjoyed your vacation. I just visited my internship last Friday, and I drove the past two days to get home. I'll be starting school in a few weeks. And yesss, the ceremony was AMAZING! Rarely have I ever been so impressed! The choreography was outstanding! I think that the ideal that China can put forth, despite all the actual problems, is very beautiful, with harmony and chi and so forth. My favorite parts were the light-up drums, the man-boxes, and the simultaneous tae kwon do. And all the fireworks above the Bird's Nest, wow! Have you been watching any games? I saw Phelps get his first gold last night! He is truly a remarkable athlete. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 04:12, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't know what the issue is. I checked the section where it stops, and there are no lose codes there.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 19:27, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
I even replaced it with my code, and nothing worked.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 19:31, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey Soccer5525, I gave the logo assignment to someone else to work on, they should have it done before long. Also I wanted to let you know before someone else does, that your blog page is not technically allowed per WP:NOT#BLOG. I would instead recommend that you create a blog on something like blogger (which is where I have my own blog) and link to it on your userpage. Cheers, Chet B. Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the motd templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:47, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

You could try something like "Use the Force, Luke", or something similar. If you suggest it and mention you're not sure how to finish it up, people will probably suggest some other links to use. Thanks for the help! Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:35, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
