Bugs, Repairs, and Internal Operational News

This is a summary of recent technology and site configuration changes that affect the English Wikipedia. Note that not all changes described here are necessarily live as of press time; the English Wikipedia is currently running version 1.43.0-wmf.2 (ce9d259), and changes to the software with a version number higher than that will not yet be active. Configuration changes and changes to interface messages, however, become active immediately.

Fixed bugs

The API now correctly outputs errors in JSON if that was the output format requested. (r37349, bug 14758)
It is no longer possible to move an image to an invalid title. (r37474, bug 14772)

New features

It is now possible to patrol new pages via the enhanced recent changes interface. (bug 5502)
It is now possible for bureaucrats to rename a user to a name already taken in the Single User Login system, as long as the global account and the local account have the same email address or password. (r37422, bug 13507)
It's now possible to specify a number of entries to show in the RSS feed for a page history using the limit= URL parameter. (r37699, bug 14778)
