Friendly suggestion

Why don't you work on some articles for awhile instead of adding to your userpage? I know it's fun and there are lots of boxes, but we're here to improve an encyclopedia. Cheers, PrincessofLlyr royal court 15:35, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure! I am getting kind of bored of those boxes. I will be working on The Red Pyramid (novel) for a while, editing it. And whatever I find that is incorrect or, well, need references. Thank you for the tip!Perseus, Son of Zeus (talk) 15:53, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Kane wings color.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Kane wings color.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:18, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Non-free files in your user space

Hey there Perseus, Son of Zeus, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Perseus, Son of Zeus. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

Speedy deletion of List of Heroes of Olympus characters

A tag has been placed on List of Heroes of Olympus characters, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Reviewer permission

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:58, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello. It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on others' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. ǝɥʇM0N0 23:49, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

RFAs

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Bookmarkm and Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ggarvis1 are mal-formed RFAs for candidates who have two edits each. I have removed them from WP:RFA.  Frank  |  talk  20:14, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your two Requests for adminship

I don't know what you were trying to accomplish just now on Wikipedia:Requests for adminship, but editors with two total edits are not going to receive adminship. In addition, the RfAs you posted were incomplete, posted in the wrong place, and obviously unacceptable.

Please don't do anything like this again. If you have any questions you may let me know by posting here; I will watchlist this page. Newyorkbrad (talk) 20:14, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Futhermore, besides what Brad and Frank have said above, you have to have permission from the nominees to transclude their RfAs. I have deleted Bookmarkm's since he did not respond to my query about his RfA a week ago. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:16, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
It was probably just an honest mistake on Perseus' part. In the future, if such an RfA that will probably not pass is posted on the page, you should just remove it per WP:NOTNOW and notify the user. -download ׀ sign! 21:19, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • If you intend to continue your involvement at RfA then the following pages are essential reads: Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship explains, amongst many other things, the qualities RfA contributors usually look for in a candidate. Please also check out Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in adminship discussions. As your absurd flip-flopping here illustrates, you need to understand how to evaluate RfA candidates and so comment constructively beyond the generic one-liner that doesn't indicate any familiarity with the candidate's work (this is particulary important for new users). For now though, you'd be better off to concentrate on editing articles - it is still the only realistic way to learn the ropes and writing an online encyclopedia is what we're here for. For any queries you have, there's lots of help available, so ask away.
  • And please stop mucking about with your sig - all that matters is that it is legible and unobtrusive. Plutonium27 (talk) 23:21, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Page naming

I have undone your page move to St Swithun's Church, Worcester. As the church is located in England, the naming convention is without the period in the "St" abbreviation. Please see St_Michael's_Church#United_Kingdom for a list of many churches in England where this is the case. (Even when you see entries on the list that do have the period, they actually redirect to the page name without the period.) Note that this is the opposite of the behavior in American English (and others).  Frank  |  talk  22:59, 16 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

A report at AIV. Περσεύς|Talk to me 16:27, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ahh okay. SO now amsaim is reporting me. Tis is why I am frustrated by amsaim. Since you are the intermediary, could you ask of amsaim why was he not repsonsive. Look at the edit history. amsaim repeatedly reverted my valid edits because HE(or she) didnt like the sources. The sources were legit. I repeatedly asked amsaim to look at the sources because they are valid, amsaim refused. I then posted on amsaim's talk page with explainations of the sources. That is what amsaim is calling spam links. I think amsaim said 'spam links' as hot/flag words. Did you look at the links? Are are you just going by his words? Thank You. 69.140.210.255 (talk) 16:39, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, your sources. Look at NOR. Περσεύς|Talk to me 16:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'll make a summary of your edits. (well, some are unverifiable, so I'll skip them).

Regarding this revert, removing a notice from one's talk page is not vandalism. When a user removes a warning, they are deemed to have read and acknowledged it. Sometimes that is problematic for an IP address, but to treat it as vandalism is not correct.  Frank  |  talk  17:07, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

User talk warning removal

Hi: I came upon your conversation above while following up something else; just thought I'd let you know that removing comments and warnings from your own talk page, whether you're an registered or an IP user, is perfectly acceptable and not regarded as vandalism, and such edits should not normally be reverted by others. This applies to valid warnings as well as "false positives". Removal of warnings etc. is simply regarded as an acknowledgement that the user has in fact read them. The relevant guideline is at WP:BLANKING. Not trying to interfere, but Wikipedia is huge and it helps to know the facts and where to find them. Kind regards, Karenjc 17:05, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of 24 Caprices for Violin (Dont)

A tag has been placed on 24 Caprices for Violin (Dont), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Moreover, please add more verifiable sources, not only 3rd party sources. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Suggestion

Perseus, Son of Zeus, I saw the thread above about your work on the RfA page, and I know it's not the first time.

My impression is that in your excitement to help out all over Wikipedia, you are making some mistakes. This happens to a lot of people. It would be helpful if you took a deep breath and decided to concentrate for awhile in the areas you are best at.

It might be helpful if you took a look at a page called Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors, especially the section called "Working with other editors." This may give you some suggestions that could be helpful to you regarding your approach to editing, including taking advice from other users and avoiding making the same mistake more than once.

I hope this is helpful to you. Newyorkbrad (talk) 19:20, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Enough is enough

OK, I'm going to be blunt, as usual, but you probably don't know me that well. You need to stop editing your userpage. Like now.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia.

It is about writing, not styling your userpage.

At your editor review, your greatest work is "minor improvement". That is not acceptable. Stop talking, or editing, unless you are going to edit articles.

Look at Special:Contributions/Perseus,_Son_of_Zeus. Do you see a single article? Look at this graph.

Come on.

Granted, Perseus has spent a little too much time in user space, but certainly not enough to warrant this. Perseus, please spend a little more time on articles and a lot less time on your user page. Mono, you should back off. No need to be harsh when a gentle reminder will do. AniMate 01:18, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
On the other hand, when active editing articles, I advise Perseus to first gather sources and then edit articles, to avoid cases of edit conflict or original research; and to explain deletions in edit summaries or talk pages so that other editors can see the reason and won't assume vandalism. --Rontombontom (talk) 10:15, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

New Years Message for WikiProject United States

With the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions or you can always post something on the projects talk page. If you do not want to recieve a monthly message please put an * before your name on the members page.--Kumioko (talk) 03:58, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Title blacklist

In response to your e-mail, I was considering the possibility of asking for Access Denied.* to be added to the title blacklist to prevent usernames matching that pattern being created, but I don't see that it'll do any good; they'll simply switch to a different name. At least while the username is predictably Access Denied followed by roman numerals, there's absolutely no doubt whatsoever that they're sockpuppets. Welcome to the 2011 WikiCup!

Hello and welcome to the 2011 WikiCup! Your submissions' page can be found here and instructions of how to update the page can be found here and on the submissions' page itself. From the submissions' page, a bot will update the main scoresheet. Our rules have been very slightly updated from last year; the full rules can be found here. Please remember that you can only receive points for content on which you have done significant work in 2011; nominations of work from last year and "drive-by" nominations will not be awarded points. Signups are going to remain open through January, so if you know of anyone who would like to take part, please direct them to Wikipedia:WikiCup/2011 signups. The judges can be contacted on the WikiCup talk page, on their respective talk pages, or by email. Other than that, we will be in contact at the end of every month with the newsletter. If you want to stop or start receiving newsletters, please remove your name from or add your name to this list. Good luck! J Milburn and The ed17 17:56, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

You shouldn't be worried about a "quick ITN". It'll be posted (probably by me, hence my keeping at arm's length) when it's good and ready and if there's a consensus, which could take several hours. Btw, I can access that link perfectly, but Google has some 1500 articles on the same series of attacks, so there's no shortage of material. Speedy deletion nomination of Rapid transit in the United States

A tag has been placed on Rapid transit in the United States, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

"It's not going to pass" may well be a valid WP:SNOW rationale. It is not, however, a valid CSD rationale. Please do not tag things with criteria for deletion that don't exist. Ironholds (talk) 18:52, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Percy Jackson character deletion

You don't need to make an AfD nomination for every single character. Just get the consensus from the one AfD. Although alternatively, you could put merge templates on all the pages, and then discuss it on the Percy Jackson project page. AfD is only for deleting articles, not merging them. Requesting for AfD when you KNOW they will be redirected is gaming the system. Blake (Talk·Edits) 19:27, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've reverted your move request for this page as it was badly formatted and I could not work out what you actually wanted doing. If (as I suspect) the move you are proposing is uncontroversial you could either do a G6 speedy on the page you want to move it to or list it as uncontroversial at WP:RM. WikiCup 2011 January newsletter

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to   The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by   Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to   Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1,   Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and   Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The February 2011 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive has begun!

Get going!

The February 2011 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive has begun. Please get started, as the drive aims to wikify over 2,000 articles this month. We're going to need all the firepower we can get, so please remind your friends to join up as well. In case you didn't know, wikification is fairly simple: just add wiki markup, links, and similar formatting. Thanks for joining; we're looking forward to an exciting time this month!

I am not requesting unblock of this account, but my alt account, Theseus, Son of Poseidon. Thanks. --Perseus, Son of Zeus sign here 23:45, 3 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You'll need to prove that you (the person who registered the accounts) are in control of that account (and/or this one) before I can help you. The easiest way is by email—can you think of any editors in good standing with whom you've had email contact prior to whatever the fuck just happened? If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

But please do change your password! It may have been made public for a while. –anemoneprojectors– 00:47, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Frankly, I'm inclined to block all three accounts. Someone careless enough to let their account be compromised doesn't need alternate accounts. Someone who needs adopting and mentoring doesn't need alternate accounts. Frankly someone with your skills and maturity doesn't need alternate accounts. I think you should edit from this account only because people recognize the name and know that you need to be watched. --AniMate 01:18, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, that's not really an option - once an account has been blocked (for being compromised), it can't be unblocked. TNXMan 01:26, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I seem to remember a number of administrators had compromised accounts a while back and most of them were unblocked once their passwords were changed and strengthened. Regardless, I blocked the alternates and you are free to request an unblock there. As always any administrator can reverse my block without asking. --AniMate 01:33, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Is there any way to prove this is me after my account was hacked? --Perseus, Son of Zeus sign here 15:47, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

There is WP:Committed identity, but unfortunately you have to set that up before you get hacked. I think you are going to have to abandon these accounts, register a new clean-start one with a strong password; then you can make a committed identity in case it should happen again. JohnCD (talk) 16:07, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

{{adminhelp}} Um, I am autoblocked so I can't create an account! --Perseus, Son of Zeus sign here 16:11, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

(e/c) I've disabled the autoblock on the account, so you should be able to create a new one now. Just to add to the above, you should log out if you leave your computer unattended, if it's likely to be hacked by friends/colleagues/family. Committed identity should be a last resort, and it's far bettr to ensure you're not compromised in the first place. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 16:21, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
