Merry Christmas!

I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings".  :)

@The Bushranger: Deleting the image it is fine. I was a bit saddened that after my work improving the article when at AFD #1, the nominator of AFD #2 failed to notify me as "an interested editor who had worked on the article". No matter... as notability is found through coverage and not through article content nor release nor budget, and to show it can be done through diligence, I am going to work on bringing THIS back as a better and less-susceptible-to-attack article back to mainspace. Thanks. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:27, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Future of Food

Good work there. I concede.

I do think you could've been a bit less aggressive - we are all in his for Wikipedia, after all, and while my presumption that the title was too generic to get good results probably should have been checked, it came on the back of a couple similar documentaries that I had tried to find sources for and failed utterly.

I have to admit, "I have sources!" is one of the more annoying things one can get shown in a AFD - about a quarter the time - like here - you get decent sources that prove the point. In other cases... you get really terrible sources that you have to spend hours analysing to show they're just passing mentions.

Anyway, point being, you're correct, but tone down the snark, maybe. I've asked for the nomination to be withdrawn. There's been no delete votes, so should be possible. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 12:11, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

As for Peaceable Kingdom... That's trickier. I think you'll agree the references there are a lot weaker. If we could get two strong sources, I'd happily concede, but what we have now is a lot of weak sourcing that might or might not prove the point... I'm happy to withdraw a deletion nomination in the face of unambiguous evidence, but we're still in judgement call territory. Adam Cuerden (talk) 12:53, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

@Adam Cuerden: Fine and thank you. But you really need to pay attention to WP:NRVE and use a more diligent WP:BEFORE. Point here being is that notability for even the crappiest unsourced one-sentence stub is totally dependent upon topic sources being available and not upon their use. The article on The Future of Food itself offered links to sources which should have been researched.[1][2][3][4] So when a nominator says "bare smattering of coverage", he sets a tone of failure and implies to other editors that he looked at them in his research and the available sources were crap. My own finding within minutes and sharing of in-depth articles a dozen reliable sources is not an empty "I have sources", but rather a more proper offering per policy and guideline of "dude, we have sources they were easy to find". Please be more careful in the Happy New Year. Schmidt, Michael Q. 17:23, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Question

I'm a bit confused over the inclusion of films that are filmed in a language other than English, and not captioned. Also, shouldn't the sources also be cited in English? I've been seeing image captions of movie promotions in other languages, and also some RS in other languages. Can you point me to the PAGs that cover how it should be handled? Thank you in advance. Atsme📞📧 15:38, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

@Atsme: Sure, while English language sources are preferred, for films produced outside the west they are not always available. And, as notability is dependent on coverage, non-English coverage is perfectly fine if English language sources are unavailable. Read WP:NONENG, and WP:NCF. Welcome! I'm only one person, but I have found that inserting a film name HERE works wonders for sourcing. Schmidt, Michael Q. 01:23, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Yeah I know, but I found all those lol. Wgolf (talk) 01:27, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Looks like Hintafan is continuing to add unreferenced films after being warned

Here: Scaregivers. Wgolf (talk) 19:44, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Well... he apparently is lazy, but laziness is not actionable. If notability is establishable, others can do the work to improve his notable offereings. Lots of work... sigh... but I've already addressed six of the ones you listed above. Schmidt, Michael Q. 19:51, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
@Wgolf: it did not take long, but Scaregivers aeticle is now far better and notability through available sourcing is obvious. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:10, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
