License tagging for Image:First Of May.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:First Of May.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:07, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Commercial use of Image:Paola6.jpg edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Paola6.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Paola6.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Paola6.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 14:01, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:SpiritsTourLogo.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use Image:Beatles Stereo Box Set.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Beatles Stereo Box Set.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 00:33, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:OldOFHS.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Fair use rationale for File:Bobby Darin.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Bobby Darin.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Better source request for File:Bobby_Darin.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Bobby_Darin.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 05:10, 24 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your addition has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please heed this final warning. There are several dozens of your contributions that present severe copyright issues. Engage with the procedure started at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Lou72JG and do not upload any more files before you understand why the above investigation has been initiated and where your approach runs into issues. The next occurrence of a copyright issue, regardless of your good faith or best intentions, will lead to a block in order to protect Wikipedia from further harm. Further harm? I mean, come on, putting up a picture of Bobby Darin or a 60 year high school football team is harm? was Wikipedia threatened with lawsuits from my submissions? Fair use rationale for File:ABPThanksgiving79.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:ABPThanksgiving79.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Proposed deletion of Daddy Does His Thing edit

The article Daddy Does His Thing has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails to meet WP:notability guidelines. Requires WP:reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. List of songs by The Bee Gees edit

Hello - I see you have started a List of songs by The Bee Gees, but Wikipedia already has Bee Gees discography#Singles. It appears to be duplicated work. I was tempted to simply redirect your new list to the more complete version that already exists, but decided instead just to notify you of its existence. PKT(alk) 13:07, 19 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is not duplication, as this is not a "singles" list. This is a table of all their songs with album, writer and other information. User Lou72JG (talk)

I merged the soundtrack page into staying Alive (1983 film). Therefore, this image may be redundant to the film poster. I wonder if you don't mind me removing this image from the article. --George Ho (talk) 08:55, 8 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure why you felt this was necessary, as this album is an official part of the Bee Gees catalog and should remain its own page. Other soundtracks including Saturday Night Fever and The Bodyguard are stand-alone pages.- User Lou72JG (talk)

I did this to enhance the film page. That's all. Also, Staying Alive soundtrack is nothing compared to other soundtracks. --George Ho (talk) 00:18, 10 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Bee Gees and Jimi edit

Hi Lou - I like the paragraph you added about Barry Gibb and Jimi Hendrix, but could you provide some sourcing for it? I've temporarily commented it out but will be glad to have it reinstated - just don't want to have direct quotes without any context and sourcing. Thanks for the edit - I will look for sourcing as well, but assume you got it from somewhere so if you can send me a link or a pointer to where I might find it I can format and put it back in. Thanks. Tvoz/talk 18:51, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

My apologies - the article came from Barry Gibb's page on Wikipedia. I felt it fit better on the Bee Gees page and I forgot to add the citation. Lou72JG (talk) 19:36, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

No problem - thanks for fixing it. I was on my way out and didn't have a chance to follow through and find the cite myself which I usually would have done. I agree it belongs on Bee Gees - I've been working on Barry Gibb the last day or so and didn't notice the Jimi stuff there as I've been bogged down in correcting atrocious writing and embarrassingly bad grammar, repetitions, etc - really incredibly bad in places. ANyway - thanks for moving it and fixing it! Tvoz/talk 19:58, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the bad grammar and lack of punctuation exists all over Bee Gee related pages. Someone copies and paste directly from Joe Brennan's Bee Gees page, which is not written in proper sentences. Drives me crazy! Lou72JG (talk) 20:02, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:2015 Cadillac Escalade.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:2015 Cadillac Escalade.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 14:11, 7 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for April 6 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Timeless: The All-Time Greatest Hits, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Spicks and Specks. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Proposed deletion of File:IStartedAJoke.ogg edit

The file File:IStartedAJoke.ogg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Sample of I Started a Joke insufficiently supported by critical commentary. May fail WP:NFCC#8.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 8 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
