Your draft article, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ronald P. Schaefer

Hello, Igwatala. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Ronald P. Schaefer".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ronald P. Schaefer}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 00:00, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of The Union of Campus Journalists

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Union of Campus Journalists requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Randykitty (talk) 12:54, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Francis egbokhare

The article Francis egbokhare has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. WWGB (talk) 11:13, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

August 2016

Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Aké Arts and Book Festival. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this: |image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]], instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do: |image=SomeImage.jpg. There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Please do not use thumbnails inside of infoboxes as you did to Kola Tubosun. Note that this is your second warning regarding this issue. Continuing to add thumbnails will be seen as disruptive editing. For more information please see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE. When adding an image, instead of doing:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

You can simply supply the name of the image. So in this case just do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. Proposed deletion of Ostana Prize – Writings in Mother Tongue

The article Ostana Prize – Writings in Mother Tongue has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable award.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Femi Elufowoju Jr

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Femi Elufowoju Jr requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.femielufowojujr.com/about.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. reddogsix (talk) 20:54, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

Sockpuppet investigation

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Igwatala, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Unblock request

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Igwatala (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Hi. I write to appeal the blockage placed on my account. Because of one belatedly but voluntarily disclosed paid editing, a number of my voluntary edits of notable individuals are being deleted without a chance for me to defend their notability. One of them is an academic mentor whose notability is without question, and whose work needs to be documented on this platform. I speak of Ronald P. Schaefer. It's the same for Adenrele Sonariwo and Lesley Nneka Arimah who are important and notable individuals. I created them both through the Women in Red project which seeks to increase the visibility of women, particularly in Third World countries. Because I have been blocked, I am now unable to properly contest the deletion. While I am now familiar with the rules regarding paid edits, I hope that you will pardon me for this first infraction, and give me another chance to continue to add relevant subjects to the Wikipedia database. Many of the pages being marked for deletion now do not deserve it, and that is my fault. Some do, and I'm fine with them being reviewed for notability. In short, this is an appeal for a second chance.

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 11:57, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Igwatala, your appeal makes no mention of your sockpuppetry. You'd need to address that for any chance of an appeal being successful. Cabayi (talk) 10:48, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Request reason:

I created a new account earlier this year (around March, I believe) when I forgot my password to the main account. It is called "Strange Goat". But over the course of its lifespan, I have used it occasionally for the purpose of editing some of the pages I have used my main account for, even though I had regained access to the main account. I did not do this with malice in mind, nor disruption. Sometimes, when I've logged in to each account on different computers, I have not paid attention to which account was being used at the moment, so it wasn't meant to be sockpuppetry. Very recently, I used that account to re-create the profile of Emmanuel Etim, which had been deleted a few times. I came to that project on invitation of Ayo Ajike (AyoAjik) who had initially tried to create the page and failed. I was compensated for this effort, and I disclosed this voluntarily when the page was flagged. I have later read and understood that, due to the terms of use of Wikipedia, paid edits should be disclosed beforehand. I intend to do that if such a situation ever comes up again, though I don't intend that it will. I do not need to use the "Strange Goat" account anymore, for any purpose, so it can be deleted. But on this main account, I have been committed, since about 2013, I believe, to helping to document important people, places, and events, especially in the African space, and women, according to Wikipedia rules and regulations, which are subject to review as necessary. I didn't know that what I did with "Strange Goat" was called sockpuppetry (I had to read it up), and I apologise. I don't know any of the other accounts listed on the sockpuppetry investigations page, nor do I use any other account other than these two. I know now what sockpuppetry is, and I understand why I was blocked. It will not happen again. Blocking me is no longer necessary because I understand what I have been blocked for and accept my fault, and because I recognize that it amounts to damage or disruption, which I intend to desist from. I have familiarized myself with relevant rules and regulation for contributing edits to Wikipedia, and I promise now to continue to make only useful contributions, which can be vetted and/or reverted by the community. While the block is on, I will only suggest edits, as the block allows, to pages I believe need relevant fixes. But I look forward to being able to fully participate on Wikipedia as I have in the past.

@Yamla: @Cabayi:

Hi @Cabayi:, I put the Wole Soyinka text here (which you just deleted) to suggest edits as suggested on this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:2nd_chance. Would you be willing to help reflect the edits on the main page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Igwatala (talkcontribs) 10:09, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

{{ping}} only works if you sign your post in the same edit where you add the ping.
{{2nd chance}} is for cases of vandalism. You were blocked for sockpuppetry. At present, your unblock request explains only one of the ten other accounts with which you have been linked - it doesn't appear full and frank. Cabayi (talk) 13:14, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi @Cabayi:, Hi @Yamla:, Hi @KrakatoaKatie: Hi @Sir Sputnik: I have responded to the sockpuppet inquiry and the editing blockage with true honesty, complete openness, and voluntary disclosure of ALL relevant information. It seems now that I am being asked to prove a negative; to prove that I am not people I have no knowledge of, or contact with. I know AyoAjik, because of the reason I already stated. I don't run his acccount (never have) nor do I have any idea of how he uses his account. I met him only a few months ago, in person, in a circumstance I already explained. The "Strange Goat" account is mine. You would have seen the edits I made with it, a recent one concerning the editing of the Atiku Abubakar page which I did to prevent me from being publicly identified due to the sensitive political nature of the information provided (The subject has shown signs of running for Nigerian president and his page had, hitherto, read like a campaign page rather than a true encyclopedic profile). I have absolutely NO idea about any of the "ten other accounts" you referenced, and I don't know how else I can show that to you. I don't know the people behind them. I haven't used any other account on Wikipedia than Igwatala and Strange Goat. I assume you'd have been able to see that through my IP and login patterns. I don't know what else to add now that won't just be repetition, so please let me know how else you would like me to show contrition or prove myself to be who I say I am. If you have questions that will help you better understand me, or about anything I've said so far, please ask away. I'll be here to answer. Igwatala (talk) 18:10, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi @Cabayi:, @Yamla:, @KrakatoaKatie: and @Sir Sputnik:. Good evening. Do kindly let me know what else you would suggest I do to regain access to editing privileges beyond the above explanation? Or is this the end of any opportunity to contribute to Wikipedia? Thanks. Igwatala (talk) 01:44, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

  • @Yamla: We're pretty sure the other listed accounts in the SPI case are someone else. If he gives an ironclad agreement to limit himself to one account in the future and to not create other accounts for any reason, I have no objection to unblocking. Katietalk 10:52, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
  • I do. Thank you @KrakatoaKatie:. Igwatala (talk) 10:56, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
KrakatoaKatie, ...and proper, timely disclosure of any further paid editing? Cabayi (talk) 13:16, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

@Cabayi: @KrakatoaKatie: Yes, though it's not my intention to do it again. Profiles that deserve to be created don't usually need to be paid for, I've found. But, according to the rules of paid editing I've now read, I'll disclose any such links in the future, in a timely manner. Igwatala (talk) 13:20, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

  • Based on the above assurances that you will not create more accounts, you will limit your editing to one account, and that you will promptly disclose future paid editing, I have unblocked you. Katietalk 01:51, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Thank you @KrakatoaKatie: and Merry Christmas to all. Igwatala (talk) 07:12, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Capital Square

I have not deleted an article called Capital Square. This article still exists. Maybe you mean something else? Deb (talk) 14:21, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Having looked at it again, it's too promotional to be salvaged. I would recommend you start again from scratch, in your user space, and try to keep to the guidelines. Deb (talk) 18:29, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
  • @Deb: Alright. Thank you. Will do. Igwatala (talk) 18:31, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for message. You will note that sock puppetry was not the only reason for the deletion, they were also tagged for deletion as no evidence of notability and promotional.

You will need to provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that each topic meets the notability guidelines Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company or person claims or interviews. Articles must also be neutral and encyclopaedic. Note that a person's opinion of how wonderful a gallery, for example, is is just that, it's not a fact, and you can't just cherry-pick quotes you like unless you also include criticisms.

What I will do shortly is restore the articles as drafts so you can work on them with a little less pressure . I'll also remove any obviously spammy or otherwise unsuitable material, which you shouldn't restore. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:34, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

  • Hi @Jimfbleak: Yes, a draft will be great. I will continue to work on them. Thank you. Igwatala (talk) 17:27, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
