An Invite to join Saskatchewan WikiProject edit

Hi, you are graciously extended an invitation to join the Saskatchewan WikiProject! The Saskatchewan WikiProject is a fairly new WikiProject. We are a group of editors who are dedicated to creating, revising, and expanding articles, lists, categories, and Wikiprojects, to do with anything Saskatchewan.

As you have shown an interest in Loomis, Saskatchewan we thought you might like to take an interest in this growing WikiProject.
Please assist with any ongoing requests
You might like to take an extra interest in our To Do list
Another project dedicated to Saskatchewan is the Saskatchewan Roads and Highways Wikiproject
Also, a descendant project for Saskatchewan is the WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods
We look forward to welcoming you to the project! SriMesh | talk 05:18, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 19:43, 27 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pitman, Saskatchewan edit

Thank you for creating Pitman, Saskatchewan. Is the community on a railway line, or was it once? This would be worth mentioning in the article, in the same way that highway information is valuable. - Eastmain (talk) 23:42, 12 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Warner_-_Alberta_Farmers_Co-oprative_Elevator_Co._1920.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Warner_-_Alberta_Farmers_Co-oprative_Elevator_Co._1920.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 19:16, 15 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Prairie Elevator Museum edit

The article Prairie Elevator Museum has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:notability, and appears to be self promotion.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 117Avenue (talk) 04:59, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

WPCities ratings edit

I see you're having a "fun time" expanding Saskatchewan articles and, where appropriate, adding them to the WPCities project. Just one thing: the class & importance ratings need to be consistent with the project guidelines (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/Assessment). All of the articles I've checked are rated "importance=mid", which implies either a population > 200,000 or local event that hit world headlines (which should definitely be mentioned in the article); I would suggest "importance=low". Hamlets in Alberta, November 2010 edit

Please note that not every unincorporated community in Alberta is recognized as a hamlet. Alberta Municipal Affairs (AMA) is the authority that designates hamlets. The designation of hamlets is pursued by rural and specialized municipalities through AMA pursuant to the applicable sections of provincial legislation. List of hamlets in Alberta#List of hamlets reflects all unincorporated communities in Alberta that are currently designated hamlets by AMA. If the unincorporated community your are interested in is not on this list, please do not refer to it as a hamlet in its associated Wikipedia article, tag the article with the Hamlets in Alberta category, or list the community as a hamlet under its associated rural municipality's Communities section. Also note that a hamlet is a type of unincorporated community in Alberta, so the heading of Other unincorporated communities under Warner County No. 5, Alberta#Communities is accurate. File permission problem with File:Shield's 1926 Chev truck Main St. Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan 1973.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Shield's 1926 Chev truck Main St. Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan 1973.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. multichill (talk) 10:21, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled edit

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing!HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:09, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Copyright problem: Staffordville, Lethbridge edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Staffordville, Lethbridge, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to contain material copied from http://galtmuseum.blogspot.com/2009/09/museum-exhibit-musings-could-you-vote.html, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Staffordville, Lethbridge saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 22:52, 4 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hamlets in Alberta, March 2011 edit

Be advised that Alberta Municipal Affairs (AMA) is the authority that officially recognizes hamlet designations in Alberta. A list of all officially recognized hamlets in Alberta can be found in AMA's latest Municipal Codes publication. A breakdown of hamlets by rural and specialized municipalities can be found here. If you review these sources, you'll notice that Kipp and Winnifred are not officially recognized as hamlets, despite the County of Lethbridge and the County of Forty Mile No. 8 appearing to publish otherwise on their official web sites. Not sure why this is.

As you continue to create be Alberta place stub articles, be assured that all officially recognized hamlets in Alberta already have articles. Therefore when creating new articles, please refrain from referring to these places as hamlets within the article, and from including List of hamlets in Alberta as a "See also" article and from applying the "Hamlets of Alberta" category, until such time as AMA officially recognizes the place as a hamlet. Coordinates edit

Regarding your latest edits[1][2] to Clarinda and St. Kilda, your conversions of lat/long coordinates from "degrees, minutes, seconds" to decimal degrees (or vice versa) is incorrect. Please correct the conversions using this utility. I recommend revisiting other articles where these errors were made as well.
Also, where did you get the coordinates for Clarinda and St. Kilda from? A search at the CGNDB yielded no hits for both. Hwy43 (talk) 05:33, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Coord template edit

There seem to be some problems with your use of the {{Coord}} template. There are only 60 seconds of arc in a minute of arc, so the value given for seconds of latitude (or longitude) should always be less than 60. Examples include Bernice, Manitoba and Lauder, Manitoba. —Stepheng3 (talk) 20:12, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate your good-faith attempts to contribute. Whatever method you use to get coordinates, it's giving very inaccurate results. Please stop adding coordinates until you figure out what you're doing wrong. Best regards, —Stepheng3 (talk) 20:18, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for File:Main street 1910s Retlaw, A.B..jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Main street 1910s Retlaw, A.B..jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

License tagging for File:Retlaw map.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Retlaw map.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:05, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Pioneer Days Pagent - Stirling, Alberta - July 24, 1930.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Pioneer Days Pagent - Stirling, Alberta - July 24, 1930.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 06:25, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wilson Siding, Alberta edit

Do you have a verifiable source that confirms that Wilson and Wilson Siding are in fact the same place? If so, Wilson, Alberta was already a redirect. In future, if you are going to create articles of Alberta's localities that already have redirects, the redirects should be converted to articles instead of creating articles under an alternate name. In the meantime, I will be reviewing the article to determine if a move of Wilson Siding, Alberta to Wilson, Alberta is appropriate. Hwy43 (talk) 21:02, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Pioneer Day - Stirling, Alberta - July 24, 1938.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Pioneer Day - Stirling, Alberta - July 24, 1938.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 03:29, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Walter Reginald Baker, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.mhs.mb.ca/docs/people/baker_wr.shtml.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Proposed deletion of Robsart Art Works edit

The article Robsart Art Works has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability - "one of the many art studios located in southwest Saskatchewan" is hardly a claim to fame. . .

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 09:17, 14 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

A reference problem edit

Hi! Some users have been working hard on Category:Pages with broken reference names.

In this edit, you added a new reference ref name="old" but didn't define it. Since then, this has been showing as an error at the bottom of the article. I know it's been a few time, but can you take a look and work out what you were trying to do? Thanks --Frze > talk 21:07, 17 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:John Deer-Dunn's Store Whinnefred, Alberta 1970s - Eric Musekamp.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:John Deer-Dunn's Store Whinnefred, Alberta 1970s - Eric Musekamp.jpg, which you've attributed to https://secure.flickr.com/photos/stirlingab/7815574648/. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.

You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 12:24, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Better source request for File:Pioneer Days Pagent - Stirling, Alberta - July 24, 1930.jpg edit

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 03:11, 25 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New 10,000 Challenge for Canada edit

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Ellis Bird Farm edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ellis Bird Farm, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
