Return to ECW?

Can you please cite a reliable source for your information regarding Lesnar being in talks to return to ECW?

Powerslam

Where do they get their heights from? Unless they've actually measured the wrestler, then anything else is just conjecture. Make the changes if you want to, but I think for the most part WWE.com is a more credible source, even if they do inflate their figures. McPhail 14:16, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Your VandalProof Application

Dear Halbared,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that lack of mainspace edits. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. RE: Hulk Hogan

Go ahead and revert it as much as you feel is necessary (WP:BOLD), and consider reporting the vandal to WP:AIV. Thanks for helping to maintain Wikipedia! --Xyrael T 07:58, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Excuse me but Wikipedia is always wrong. all im trying to do is give out CORRECT information out to the public. Andre the Giants statistics and biography is all wrong. It is NOT vandalism if i do this. Vandalism is when you destroy or ruin an object of some sort. Userboxes

The combined edit removed the logos, and I did a cleanup on your user boxes. The user boxes use optional parameters which get kept who you subst: them, so I ran it through a script to turn {{{varaible|default}}} -> default. ed g2stalk 13:07, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Tenryu

Tenryu is Japanese, so SI units come first. Same goes for various european countries. Whatever units are in use in their birth country are in use, are listed here first.

Imperial/Metric

That might be your opinion. If you wish that to be changed, open up a discussion in the project talk page. I will vote for metric.
Lakes (Talk) 22:08, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

It's not opinion. Go to UK wrestling events, weight is not annouced in Metric as it may be in your country.(Halbared 22:09, 3 June 2006 (UTC))

I would guess the use of the imperial system in UK wrestling shows has something to do with the influence of USA wrestling on UK wrestling. The government website uksport.gov.uk seems to favour the metric system. McPhail 23:12, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Anecdotal evidence isn't really a suitable basis for a Wikipedia policy, even an informal one. If other editors contribute to the discussion on the project talk page, then perhaps the matter can be voted upon. McPhail 23:23, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain that user:Paulley is English. McPhail 23:33, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes i am, i agree that for the most part imperial is best used in England... but i grew up being taught metric and imperial anyone from my generation onwards would be the same... However, i am used to putting things in metric and most of the resources i use also use metric and as this is a site based in America and as we use American-English spelling aposed to English i would have to stick to metric for international wrestler from England... but maybe the use of imperial measurments for British based English wrestlers. ---- Paulley 19:55, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Yea sounds good... and as long as their is both imperial and metric in these articles everyone should be happy --- Paulley 12:00, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: Canada's method isnt the method for everyone else. Most people (or at least in the USA) follow imperial, not metric.

Re: But their height/weight stats are not something of district concern. Thats how wrestlers are billed as, using the imperial method rather than metric

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I did check his history but again, I think (especially for an anon user) that it may be a little presumptuous to even assume they read the talk page. Anyway, he definitely knows now so assume any further edits as vandalism. Also, to that end, I just approved you for VandalProof (see below) Enjoy! :) - Glen TC (Stollery) 08:27, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Userboxes

Just an FYI whilst I have you, check out Wikipedia:Userbox policy where it says: "Each user is free to place any number of UBX on his or her own user page or subpage, up to a hard limit of 64 per page. Displaying large numbers of UBX consumes human and computer time, although the exact extent to which this is a waste is disputed. No penalty results from UBX display up to the limit of 64, after which boxes may be summarily deleted by administrators." You have well over that so may be something to think about... - Glen TC (Stollery) 08:45, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey please don't misunderstand I am absolutely not telling or even asking you to delete them, in fact please don't on my account. I just thought you may not be aware of that policy that's all. At worst an admin mmay delete them themselves so your call. Thanks again for your understanding, and thank you for the thank you re VP too! - Glen TC (Stollery) 08:49, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

billed weight

As part of his "Popular Mathematics" gimmick, Scoville is announced as weighing "5³+3*p-V12(1-x) lbs ( = 79 kg )". It's similar in principle to Little Guido being announced in liquid ounces. I suppose the equation could be moved to the third paragraph of the career section, but I would rather that it was not deleted for posterity. McPhail 14:31, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

I never actually read the book myself, I was simply cleaning up some of the horrendous grammar that was in that section. no problem. I find a lot of the wrestling articles are very poorly writen, with a strange mixture of kayfabe and and legit events that make them very difficult to understand. I've started an account now, so that I feel more comfortable making corrections. Regards2jimi 17:43, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I am a huge Undertaker fan, that's why I so accurate when it comes to information about him. If you will see, I have changed all of "The Undertaker" to "Undertaker." Tell me what you think. B Streiffert 13:24, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

TheTruth2 has been reported. If you would like to leave a comment concerning the situation please do so here. your Boris Johnson reverts

Hi. I see that you (basically) reverted edits I and others had recently made to the Boris Johnson page. You gave no explanation or comment. It is true that I re-inserted the longer explanation of his standing in the rector election -- if you disagree with that, that's fine and as far as i can tell the debate on that is still ongoing. However in my changes I also did what I could to correct: some redundancies (e.g. BJ's appearances on HIGNFY described twice, for no reason), bad structure (his tabloid nickname in the article's first sentence), several npov uncited/"weasel worded" claims that do not belong in an encyclopedia ("Boris would have no idea what he was doing if he got into power"), and grammar/style problems (passive voice, wordiness, etc). I am going to change back most of my stlye/grammar/npov changes, and please do no revert them again unless you really have a reason.

As an aside, from what I can tell a majority of contributors here think the more detailed rector-election explanation should stay -- especially, in my opinion, the part about him being nominated by several hundred students.

Cheers, --longlivefolkmusic 18:19, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

List of Famous tall men

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. BertieBasset 15:37, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

List of Famous tall men

What do you mean they're not notable, see talk page? I put my thoughts on the talk page, and didn't add any of the people under consideration; I put Tim Robbins where he should be (recognised quote: "I'm six foot four and a half and I have a temper"), and I added a fact about Hulk Hogan (quote from Allure 2005: "I used to be 6ft 7, but after knee, neck and back surgeries I'm now about 6ft 4".). Please tell me why you think you know better than my research? This is pretty boring now, one rule doesn't apply to you, and another to everybody else. BertieBasset 17:09, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I've read the Hogan discussion page, and in that case, I apologise for repeatedly adding it. BertieBasset 18:43, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Dave Finlay

This comment is in relation to the article of Dave Finlay. I’m not sure if you’re aware of this but it’s the right of people from the six northeastern counties of Ireland to have dual citizenship, yet you persistently remove the Irish nationality from the beginning of his article. He is not from the island of Britain, therefore not solely British. Please abstain from making edits such as this in future. Thank you. Spaingy 10:48, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Jim Powers

Just a friendly reminder to use an edit summary when proposing deletion for an article. Edit summary usage is always good, but it is especially important that edit summaries are used when proposing deletion. The reason for this is that articles proposed for deletion that later have the {{prod}} tag removed should not be proposed for deletion again, but rather sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. The only easy way to check if an article was previously proposed for deletion is to look at the edit history and the edit summaries people have left before. Thanks! I didn't say that you were reverting my edits. I have the page on my watch list and I felt you'd beeen ignoring the 3RR long enough. That you think the edits are incorrect or non-notable is not the point; the rule is that NOBODY is allowed to revert more than 3 times except for obvious vandlaism, which this isn't. Also, as you reverted again after I placed the warning, I'm afraid I've reported you. HamishMacBeth 16:13, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
I am reverting those edits for a reason, as I have previously explained. The stats were changed that do not comply with the bios of the ppl involved, so I revert, if ppl want to change the stats, then they'll have to alter the bio page and link the source. As for basketball players, that is discussed on the discussion page. I get the £RR rule posted on me because I don't use sockpuppets to hide by logging out, unlike the constant reverters who try and compromise the page. Your action was inappropriate.(Halbared 21:07, 1 September 2006 (UTC))

3RR Block

You've been blocked for breaking the three revert rule on List of famous tall men.

Your block is for 8 hours as its your first violation - but be careful as any future blocks would be longer. --Robdurbar 17:58, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

I was trying to protect the integrety of that page, if you would look at the history of it you would see, I believe your block is incorrect. Since I was trying to prevent the mild form of vandalism that would have the page grow to huge proportions and be swamped with non notable basketball players. I await your response(Halbared 21:03, 1 September 2006 (UTC))

Sorry, but as the reviewing admin said, this is a fairly clear case of breaking the three revert rule. If you think that people are messing up a page, there are alternative routes that can be taken, rather than just reverting people's edits. I'm afraid that the other edits wouldn't clasify as vandalism. --Robdurbar 08:16, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Well if you think people are repeatedly adding unsourced nonesense into the article, then you could insist on a source for every single person. I know that it would be quite tedious to start with, but once its done, its done. This looks quite similar to the List of best selling music artists which I tidied up (compare it now to any version from around last November/December). If every person on it has a listed soruce by their name, then you (and others) will be able to easily demand a source from every new addition. Plus, others would happily revert unsourced additions.
Alternatively, you can always ask a few other editors to look at a page if you think it needs reverting but you would break the 3RR - that's perfectly legitimate (of course, the other editor might disagree with you....). If things get really desperate, a Request for Comment can sometimes attract people to help with a problem page. --Robdurbar 08:32, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Famous Tall Men

Hi Halbared. Tim Duncan and David Robinson were champions and legends who stood around 7 feet tall--two of the best players ever; they belong on the list IMO. Rick Smits and Shawn Bradley were extremely tall but hardly legendary, though Smits was a reasonably good player in his day. Bradley was a joke. This raises the question--do any of basketball players belong on the list for their height alone? I believe the answer is yes--we should make room for a couple of freakishly tall players like Manute Bol and Gheorghe Muhresan. I appreciate your work in keeping that list concise.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back 11:01, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
