Actor names in film plot sections edit

I am rolling back your edits, as you have no consensus for them. It's settled Wikipolicy that a WikiProject cannot mandate the content of the articles it claims to be in its realm of interest, and WP:FILMPLOT does exactly taht. Any mass edit such as this must have the proper consensus from the community, prefereably in an RfC advertised at WP:Centralized discussions, not from a WikProjecft discussion in a semi-private corner of the site. Beyond My Ken (talk) 00:55, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

You have undone two of my edits. Please do not continue in this. Please read WP:BRD. When your Bold edit has been Reverted by another editor, the recommended next step, if you continue to think the edit is necessary, is to Discuss the dispute on the article talk page with other editors, but not to re-revert it, which is the first step to edit warring, a disruptive activity which is not allowed. Beyond My Ken (talk) 00:56, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Beyond My Ken:Hiya, you have an interesting user page, very useful. There's a lot of repetition on those pages, and the format which most films use seem to be to leave the cast in their bit.Halbared (talk) 00:59, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Don't "Hiya" me. Stop what you're doing ritght now, You have no consensus to make these edits, and if you continue, my net stop is to ANI to get you sanctioned for editing wihtout a consensus, which is WP:Disruptive. WP:FILMPLOT has been a problem for a long time, as the people in WikiProject film try to control "their" articles, but there was never a community consensus discussion about it, and FILMPLOT remains a guideline, and a private one only agreed to by the members of the film project. If you want to continue doing this, go to WP:Centralized discussion and star an RfC, but in the meantime you must stop. 01:05, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
@Beyond My Ken:No need to get excited, I am trying to tidy up the articles, you could start a rfc for that maybe? Instead of following me and threatening me, if you have a problem with filmplot?Halbared (talk) 01:09, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Beyond My Ken:I'd be more than willing to work with you, than having you stalk me forever. :)Halbared (talk) 01:17, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Beyond My Ken: Wikipedia:Centralized discussion is a good idea, have you an idea on how to best phrase it?Halbared (talk) 01:20, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
First, revert all the changes you've made, then we can talk. I'd be happy to work with you on the phrasing of an RfC, but only after all the articles have been restored to their status quo ante.Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:22, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Beyond My Ken:I've looked at WP:plot and it says not to include the cast. So, I'm confused.Halbared (talk) 01:29, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
That is precisely what I'm talk about. It's not a community-consensus guidline, it was promulgated by WikProject Film without the approval of the community. Any' find of mass change such as you were making requires a specific community consensus, which you do not have. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:06, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Stillwater edit

Hello - I reverted your good faith edit at Stillwater, but I subsequently cleaned up the page and discovered Zen Shorts. I've created Stillwater (TV series) as a redirect and put it in the disambiguation page. Thanks, Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:45, 2 April 2021 (UTC) @Shhhnotsoloud: Thank you for the information, I was not aware. :) Halbared (talk) 19:17, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

January 2022 edit

Hello, I'm Walter Görlitz. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Christmas, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The infobox is to be a summary of content in the article, not a place to introduce novel material. If you want to add a sentence or paragraph about this rarely used term in the prose, feel free to, but the infobox is not the correct place for it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:32, 13 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hiya @Walter Görlitz:, thank you for taking the time to explain. Can you advise on a reliable source?Halbared (talk) 09:37, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
The source itself is fine, but the place you keep adding is not. If you plan to include it in the Christmas article, the 20th century sub-section of the history section would be a good place, but Christmas and holiday season would be even better as it is more about the secular celebrations rather than the religious nature of the day. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:14, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Walter Görlitz: OK thanks, you are incorrect about it being a 'rarely used' term, it's common in the UK, and the infobox does state 'nicknames', but I'll add it in the areas you advise.Halbared (talk) 18:19, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am not unfamiliar with its use in the UK, which is why I say rarely, but let's test our assumptions: https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Christmas%2CNo%C3%ABl%2C+Nativity%2CXmas%2CChrimbo&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&corpus=26&smoothing=3&direct_url=t1%3B%2CChristmas%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CNo%C3%ABl%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CNativity%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CXmas%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CChrimbo%3B%2Cc0 and without "Christmas" https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=No%C3%ABl%2CNativity%2CXmas%2CChrimbo&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&corpus=26&smoothing=3&direct_url=t1%3B%2CNo%C3%ABl%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CNativity%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CXmas%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CChrimbo%3B%2Cc0#t1%3B%2CNo%C3%ABl%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CNativity%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CXmas%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2CChrimbo%3B%2Cc0 it barely registers. In searching, the Christmas article does have an "other names" sub-section. It may be appropriate there, but again, it is rarely used. 18:26, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
It's not assumptions, it's hearing it regularly. Google is a poor source for UK slang, chrimbo is in common usage and can be heard across Christmas and as normal only the UK slang that Americans pick up gets a handle on google or other US weighted services. It's why UK ad homs can be used across YouTube and elsewhere. It may be not be common outside the UK which is understandable as it's UK slang, but it's common within the UK.Halbared (talk) 18:40, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Roald Dahl edit

I saw you thanked me for my edit on Roald Dahl. Another editor sent me a warning about edit wars. He once again changed the article on Dahl from "a British writer" (and he is a well-known British writer) to "a Welsh-born Norwegian writer". I think I might be dealing with some Scandinavian NATIONALIST. Can you help me on this isssue? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Destrothemachine (talkcontribs) 06:54, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Destrothemachine: At this point, you are doing a good job of putting yourself on a path towards sanctions against you. Calling me a ″Scandinavian nationalist″ is a borderline personal attack on a board where assuming good faith is standard, I've even edited the article to I think better reflect the situation but I am not sure if you have seen that. I posted an edit warring notice on your page because, uh, you were edit warring. In other words repeatedly reverting to your preffered version, you were well on your way to breaking the three revert rule, the fact you you just remove the notice and don't realize your misconduct speaks volumes. I don't want problems here but keep on acting like this and there will be. Trying to recruit others to do your bidding after you know yourself you were edit warring is also pretty low. --TylerBurden (talk) 07:01, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@TylerBurden: I made a mistake and I apologise. You have changed the Roald Dahl article to mutual satisfaction. Thank you for that and I wish you the best. Once again, I'm honestly sorry about all of thisDestrothemachine (talk) 07:14, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
