Sport(s) in the United States

I undid your recent move of Sports in the United States to Sport in the United States. The general rule/policy/guideline has always been to use American English for American articles, British English for British articles, and any one of them for articles that aren't country-specific. There's more about this at WP:MOS. I see from your contributions that you've only been around for a month or so, and it isn't that you did anything wrong, I'm just letting you know, for like future reference or whatever. If you have any questions about this or anything in general, feel free to post a response here or a message at my talk page. AlexiusHoratius (talk) 06:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

RE

I don't give up that easy. Two users complaining isn't going to stop me from trying to make changes and improve the project.--WillC 02:25, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Am I causing a problem. I kind of want to know. Not my intention.--WillC 21:26, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
No. You are doing the best you can. They are the ones who are causing the problem. I don't think either Scorpion or iMatt have suggested a single useful thing in that discussion. Repeat: No, you are not the one causing the problem. Thanks, gENIUS101 16:54, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Genius, we were both trying to explain at the time that the problems in the project are a few users, not article problems. I did suggest a few useful things there, so I think it'd be best if you went back to read it. However, the whole thing got way out of hand, I agree. (iMatthew - talk) at 17:35, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I do agree with Matt that it got out of hand. However, just because there are a few users causing problems doesn't mean we have to be vindictive and start problems with them. When I have a problem with someone I try to end it as quick as possible and hope I don't have to deal with them again. Thanks Genius, that makes me feel a bit better about my decision to start the discussion.--WillC 00:21, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Amazing Race Wikipedia

Hello, Genius101. Welcome to the Amazing Race Wikipedia. In your travels, you will encounter two types of tasks. In a Detour, you have a choice between two tasks. Both of you must work together on this. In a Roadblock, one team member must work on a task alone. Your Amazing Race Wikipedia submissions page is located here. Enjoy the competition! Ref Desk

The right answer to the blood question was "Because it's an invasion of your body" and that should have been sufficient. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 20:14, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Oops, I just assumed you were going to get on me about the blood thing. But that's only debate, it's not like there's something to be eaten. I'll revise the Heath bar statement for the types who would stick a knife in an electrical outlet if you told them to. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 20:20, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
I thought simply saying "Don't try this at home!" was not quite sufficient. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 22:12, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Re:Amazing Race

I'm sure it'll work out- I'm happy to dip into new areas (we could find some common ground maybe...) and I'm not really sure how the whole thing works! We'll just have to wait and see, I suppose. J Milburn (talk) 20:29, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Amazing Race Wikipedia Starts!

Hello, Shappy. This is a reminder that Amazing Race Wikipedia will start very soon. At 00.00 (or whereabouts), our host Firestorm will place the first Detour on your submissions page. Again, the Detour is a choice between two tasks; both members of the team choose one task and work together to complete it. A Roadblock is a task only one team member must perform; he/she may not have any help from the other team member. Good luck and enjoy the Race! :-) Shappy (talk · contribs) and Firestorm (talk · contribs) --EdwardsBot (talk) 13:33, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

In accordance with Ref Desk rules (see talk page)

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

Right, I'm assuming you've seen that the first leg has begun? I'm thinking the "Write two "5x Expansion" DYKs" is the task for us- I've never written a FL, and I'm gathering you haven't either? I'm thinking we "share the duties", as it were- I'll write one (on a mushroom) and you can write another (on whatever takes your fancy) and we can both check the articles. I'll link to the mushroom article here when I've found one that's appropriate. Thanks. J Milburn (talk) 10:40, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I've started work on Scutellinia scutellata. Feel free to drop by and give it a copyedit/add anything you can. Let me know if you find one to work on- I'm happy to give you a hand. J Milburn (talk) 12:16, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I normally use IRC, but I am currently using my brother's computer due to laptop issues. Hopefully that should be resolved in the coming days. J Milburn (talk) 12:39, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
That's fine, we'll just have to talk on-wiki. Thanks, gENIUS101 12:41, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I've finished the article- not quite a five times expansion, but, as much of the original content was not actually needed, and it's a major expansion, I think they'll be happy with it over at DYK. It'd be great if you could have another look through it when you're ready, and let me know when you've chosen an article to expand. J Milburn (talk) 14:41, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Just a reminder, you should post it on the submissions page when you nominate so a judge will notice (although DYKs usually don't have a problem with getting reviewed quickly). Meetare Shappy Cunkelfratz! 14:42, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm off for a while- should be back mid-morning tomorrow, Wikipedia time. Dunno if you'll have anything up by then, but, if you've pointed me in the direction of an article on my talk page, I'll get to work on it. J Milburn (talk) 17:10, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Nice work on X Division- I'll give it a read over shortly. How do you know about the next task? Nothing's been written on our submissions page, and I was under the impression we wouldn't get the next task until this round was over? (I'm back on IRC by the way- I have my laptop back!) J Milburn (talk) 21:26, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Gotcha. Is it write one from scratch, or what? And do you have an article in mind? You ever written a GA before? J Milburn (talk) 23:56, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Checked the deletion log (dunno if that's cheating...) and I got "The Roadblock is: Write 1 Good Article. Good luck with the task." However, Shappy asked which would like to complete the task before setting it, so I dunno if ours would be the same. If I was to do the roadblock, I'd first look into expanding One Voice (Andrew Johnston album), which hopefully isn't too far from GA. If not... I'm not really sure. You got anything in mind? J Milburn (talk) 00:32, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

DYK nomination of X Division

Hello! Your submission of X Division at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Killiondude (talk) 23:22, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Add the Unbreakable 05 three way. It got a 5 star rating by meltzer. That is a possible DYK right there. You can find sources for that on WrestleView or Slam. It is pretty much well known that it got a 5 star rating.--WillC 03:38, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
No problem.--WillC 19:41, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Amazing Race Update

Hi, could you please enable email in your preferences? Or perhaps come on IRC and look for me or Firestorm in any of the wikipedia related channels? Firestorm's nick is [Thrawn]. It is regarding information for the next part of this leg. I've email the instructions to your partner just now, and I went to email you when I noticed you don't have it enabled. Also, please look at the developments on the talk page of the competition. :-) Killiondude (talk) 22:56, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

DYK for X Division

On July 5, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article X Division, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
