Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Alan Keely, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Leinster Senior League. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Message from Sdgoddess831 edit

Hi, I was curious what your connection is with Deltopia and why you insisted on updating to Deltopia as well as removing the names of the originators of Floatopia from the Deltopia page? My friend asked that I help her with the wikipedia update as they have fond memories of the occasion and origination. Do you have history or personal knowledge of this event? If you would like, I can send you the narrative of the history, if that makes you more comfortable with retaining the content. Let me know. Sdgoddess831 (talk) 20:38, 27 June 2016 (UTC)sdgoddess831Reply

@Sdgoddess831: Per Wikipedia policy WP:VERIFY and, to some extent, WP:PSTS, there are specific criteria as to what can be included in articles. Some of the information listed in Deltopia does not qualify and has therefore been removed. My lack of a connection to Deltopia is irrelevant, but having a connection as you stated above may be against the Wikipedia guideline WP:COI. Let me know if this clears things up satisfactorily. Fuji Edit edit

The link listed his high school, but do we need to list the school they attended as a youth club? No other league does this and the high school is rarely an established "soccer club". deathgripz 18:22, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

  • @UncleTupelo1: Soccer in the United States is set up very differently than it is elsewhere so I wouldn't expect there to be similarities when compared to other locations with a different set up. We most certainly do not need to list a high school that any given player attended as a "youth club", but I think we most certainly should if said player ultimately played for that high school in his youth, which in Fujii's case he did. I see no difference in high school play vs. youth "club" play as they're both organized, amateur teams being represented. GauchoDude (talk) 18:32, 4 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Rollback granted edit

Hi GauchoDude. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! – Juliancolton | Talk 15:30, 4 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Working on Bob Sipchen's article edit

Thanks for the note about Bob Sipchen's article, and sorry for taking a while to get back to you! Yes, I'm working with awareness of WP:COISELF, WP:AUTO, and WP:BLPCOI, and it's important to me to treat this article like any other article. As with other BLP articles where the subject is commenting or contributing, I believe the best approach is to listen to the subject's comments with open ears, make an effort to look for sources, and write the article in a neutral fashion according to available sources. If there are no available sources for something after asking and looking, it's best to remove the unsourced information until sources can be found. Dreamyshade (talk) 00:25, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Dreamyshade: Agreed. Seems like you and I run across many of the same Santa Barbara-centric articles. I look forward to our future interactions and improving all of these together. Thanks, GauchoDude (talk) 17:20, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:NewUCSBLogo.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:NewUCSBLogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 05:42, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Corkythehornetfan: Why bother putting this template here? You know why the file is orphaned and it's because you made it that way when you created a duplicate file, then replaced all of the .png "orphaned" versions across Wikipedia with your new .svg copy. I'm sure there must be a reason for this (I hope?) but no need to loop me in to whatever busy work you're doing here. GauchoDude (talk) 06:29, 1 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I use WP:Twinkle. When I marked the file orphaned, it automatically notifies the original uploader. If I don't do it, User:B-bot will (either way you're going to be notified). Per Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion, "the nominator should notify the original uploader or page creator." It's not about me knowing why it was orphaned, it's to let the original uploader know why it's up for deletion. It's just a simple curtesy, that's all. Hope this helps. The writer did sloppy research. The Barbara Rush who bought the Harold Lloyd Estate is from Texas. I have included the information from Fanmail buz website that shows what her true address is. I will send you the links for the information I added about her commercial and her short film I put under career so you can stop deleting those. None of this is to be rude. Women's Football / Soccer Task Force News: August 2017

Should the women's football task force become WikiProject: WOSO?

According to an op-ed in the recent Signpost, some editors think task forces and subgroups are dying in 2017.

What do you think about forming our own WikiProject separate from WP:FOOTY? There's an on-going discussion of the potential pros and cons on the task force talk page. Input is welcome.

Recent developments

New initiatives have been created for:

  • FA WSL (England's top-division league)
  • NCAA (American university teams, conferences, etc.)
  • W-League (Australia's top-division league)
Ongoing tournaments
Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues
Did you know?

While WP:FPL lists only two women's top-division leagues as notable due to its "fully professional" criteria, did you know you can create an article on any player in any league as long as the references meet WP:GNG guidelines? Make sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}.

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks page if you'd like and other editors may be able to help. Need tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

Deletion of 2016 American Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament edit

You recently nominated the AAC soccer tournament pages. The precedent you cited was NOT for the same type of article. The precedent was for a conference season, not a conference tournament. As you can see in Template:2016 NCAA Division I men's soccer season, every D1 conference has a tournament page that is referenced in countless locations. Deletion of this page will leave red links all over the place. I'm not against adding additional sources, but I strongly believe a consensus needs to be formed on this matter for any other reason. Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles.

If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

Bonnie Henrickson photo edit

GauchoDude, I know you've had success with contacting the UC Santa Barbara Athletic Dept. in the past based off of our email over the colors and obviously you have a relationship with the school... would you be willing to contact the correct person in athletics and see if they would give permission to use Bonnie Henrickson's photo? See c:Commons:OTRS for the permission email/template they need to use. If not, I can try and contact them! Corky 04:24, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Corkythehornetfan: I wish I could be of more assistance here, but I don't understand the permission/OTRS system myself. The person you'd most likely want to contact would be Bill Mahoney (Bill.Mahoney@athletics.ucsb.edu; Associate AD, Communications) or Matt McClenathen (Matt.McClenathen@athletics.ucsb.edu; Assistant Communications Director who oversees WBB). If you're successful in that process, I'm sure I could come up with a laundry list of photos that would help the Wikipedia projects for former UCSB Gauchos articles/players/coaches/etc. GauchoDude (talk) 04:52, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
No worries, I do appreciate you pointing me to the person(s) I need to contact! OTRS is pretty simple once you get the hang of it – it took me a while though (and I'm still learning some things!). Do you have a list of the people who need photos? I think I will just include them all together in one email. Thanks, Corky 19:39, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Corkythehornetfan: It would take me quite a while to get everything listed out. Should this initial request be successful, I'd be more than happy to put together the wish list. Wouldn't want to do all the work to have it rejected out of hand. Good luck! GauchoDude (talk) 04:01, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure what you're referring to re: "...without making any effort to discover why the page was idle," as this is an irrelevant point. Per WP:NSEASONS and WP:TOOSOON, I interpret this as unworthy of a stand-alone article at this stage. If you'd like a wider opinion on the matter, I'm more than happy to solicit one so we as a community can come to a consensus. GauchoDude (talk) 17:47, 15 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Excuse me, but what give you the right to decide that the article is, "unworthy of a stand-alone article at this stage" without any discussion on the issue? Regardless of what your stated references may say, there are established procedures for deleting an article. Please return the article, and, if you believe it should be deleted, follow the procedures by tagging it as proposed for deletion, and let the Wikipedia community decide, rather than acting in an arbitrary, autocratic manner. GWFrog (talk) 14:25, 23 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@GWFrog:, you're excused, and the specific guideline is WP:BOLD. As you've now noted an objection, you can find the discussion here. GauchoDude (talk) 20:01, 24 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

ACC MSOC season articles edit

Hi GauchoDude, I have reverted your redirects for all the 2021 ACC soccer seasons. The ACC is widely seen as an elite college soccer conference and nearly all the programs, if not all of them are considered the most elite collegiate soccer programs, meeting the following in GNG and NSEASONS:

"For programs considered elite in a sport (for example, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, in men's basketball; Tennessee and UConn in women's basketball; Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, USC in football, etc.) many or all seasons might be notable regardless of the outcome (the amount written by reliable sources on a weekly basis for some of these programs is enough that almost anything or anyone having any relation to them is likely to meet the General Notability Guideline)."

This is especially true with Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Virginia, Wake Forest. Beyond that, programs such as Virginia Tech, NC State, Boston College, and Pitt have shown recent success that could manage to pass NSEASONS. Furthermore, these programs have achieved national rankings across all major selectors which would satisfy the elite requirement of NSEASONS. Quidster4040 (talk)

@Quidster4040: While I understand you have quite an interest in collegiate soccer, as do I, I disagree that these articles meet WP:NSEASONS and that we are WP:TOOSOON, hence the redirects. While, in your opinion, the teams listed are "elite in a sport", that is just one bullet point to consider. Prior to sharing those guidelines/examples as you reference above, WP:NSEASONS prefaces with "For college sports teams, weigh both the season itself and the sport..." and while I'm sure both of us would love to see collegiate soccer much more highly regarded, in my opinion it's not there yet – both as it relates to collegiate sports landscape as well as the soccer landscape in totality. How would you like to proceed? GauchoDude (talk) 12:38, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Chris Plante edit

Plante himself says in the interview he attended UCSB. Edit to say that there is audio of the entire interview with the text. At around the 2:10 mark, he says he attended UCSB. https://ourtowndc.com/chris-plante-radio-talk-show-host/BillVol (talk) 14:55, 15 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@BillVol: Yes, I saw that as the source listed. Upon further exam, I was unable to find any corroborating sources. As such since this is a WP:BLP, I decided to err on the side of caution using WP:NOTPUBLICFIGURE as guidance. If you'd like to add into his personal article that he claimed he attended UCSB, I feel that's what the source above portrays. GauchoDude (talk) 16:38, 15 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Notables need sources and a connection to a place other than as place of death edit

You added Frank Safanda here as a notable for the article for Nutley, New Jersey and Roy E. Moore here as a notable in Rahway, New Jersey. Both were added without sources and both appear to have no connection to the places other than dying in these places, so they have been removed from these articles. Is there any basis for adding them to such articles? Alansohn (talk) 15:16, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

You did this again with Harold Newhart and Oxford, Ohio. These entries must have sources establishing a connection. Alansohn (talk) 00:45, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for November 10 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited John Mais (gymnast), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Southern Railway. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Steve Barr edit

I contest the removal of my edits to the Steve Barr (educator) page on the grounds that Steve Barr himself requested said edits. 204.69.190.254 (talk) 20:16, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

@204.69.190.254: I'm not sure how serious you're being, so I will address in good faith. Per WP:BLPSOURCE, you are lacking a source for your information. As such, it is not fit for inclusion.
