Tibetan Pinyin edit

do you know tibetan?

i think there is some wrong inTibetan Pinyin

i have

Zhōngguó dìmínglù 中国地名录 / Gazetteer of China.

Zàngwén pīnyīn jiàocái - Lāsàyīn 藏文拼音教材•拉萨音

CHIV—803—1982 藏语(拉萨语)地名译音规则。

they are not same as the wiki's Tibetan Pinyin。

wiki's places name is from Zhōngguó dìmínglù 中国地名录。

but people's name also like Zhōngguó dìmínglù 中国地名录。

and my books and files are poor, maybe have ,i don't know.

i’ve never seen offical files and books use Zhōngguó dìmínglù 中国地名录 for spelling people's name。

but CHIV—803—1982 藏语(拉萨语)地名译音规则,have people's names spelling

and CHIV—803—1982 藏语(拉萨语)地名译音规则 is old。

the new is

藏语(拉萨语)地名译音规则 CH/T 4009-1999

藏语(安多话)地名译音规则 CH/T 4013-1999

藏语(德格话)地名汉字译音规则 CH 4001--91

i have seen them yet。

do you know why?

Tibetan name edit

hello,I don't have enough time to redirect the old pages to the new titles。 because, now in china is morning 5:42。 And I have no more files about Tibetan palces。only have names。 There may be many mistakes as I do.

African Queen edit

My mistake, didn't checked thoroughly enough. I removed the image from the list. The point still stands though, one can take a free content image from another film, or have no image. It is not necessary to have an image of An American in Paris, that image only serves a decorative purpose. Garion96 (talk) 18:09, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

See Commons:Category:1951 in film for more free content images of 1951. For instance A streetcar named desire. I do think it just is decorative but perhaps we should ask for a second opinion at Wikipedia:Fair use review. Garion96 (talk) 18:14, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Looks good now. We both got what we wanted, an image but no fair use image. :) Regarding the rationale. I just don't agree with point 1. I don't think an image in that list "significantly contribrutes to the article and illustrates the role and significance of that". Garion96 (talk) 18:50, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fullerton edit

Yes, we do seem to encounter eachother lately. :) It is a copyvio but not from the first edit. I will purge the copyvio (partial delete) so that the whole article will still be there. I asked on the Singapore's noticeboard and it was indeed confirmed as a copyvio. I, or someone else working on Wikipedia:Copyright problems just haven't got around to it yet. Garion96 (talk) 09:24, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just "processed" the article. :) Unfortunately it had multiple copyright violations in it's history so I deleted the article and created a ministub. I hope someone can expand it again to it's original state, albeit without the copyvio's. Garion96 (talk) 18:08, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the close up image she is too much close and almost attached to the camera, her eyes are almost closed, so I don't really find the sense in having this image at the box, while the other one is in a perfect profile, her face is brilliantly portrayed, we can see part of her body, so I strongly think it should be there.
I didn't notice your previous images. I will create the Padmini filmo, and I have seen Darna Mana Hai. Great-long film.
And I also have a little request. If you ever find a free licensed image of Preity Zinta, please let me know. She doesn't have.
And finally, what'd you think about the Raj Kapoor filmography and the Zeenat Aman filmography? I also noticed your help on the Raat Aur Din page. I always forget adding the Bollywood template. Thanks!

I'm aware of everything you're doing and I think you're a brilliant editor and one of the best Wikipedia has ever known. I know that you are the creator of WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers, and your work is much appreciated. I have also checked out your edits count... I'm shocked with your tireless dedication to Wikipedia. BTW, I'm quite surprised to see red links for American films... LOL.. My best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 21:25, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I personally think it is great that you have so so much edits, whether it's minor or significant one - It's still an edit. You are among the most active users Wikipedia has ever known and I feel proud of having so much talks with you:)
It's OK, if there's no photo, there is nothing else to do. I think flickr.com does its updates everytime, and who knows maybe I could find something later. Regards. --ShahidTalk2me 05:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes you're absolutely right. Other Indian cinema related are really poorly written. That's also what I think about Bollywood articles, which are also deprived compared to Hollywood, which are huge. Bollywood articles are so brief. There are lots of. Now it is a good concern you've introduced. Tamil, Telugu etc, are placed at the very bottom. I'd like to help but as you see, I'm almost not here. I'm just coming once in a while to check my watchlist. I hope your suggestion works. Unfortunately, it's true. No-one works on these articles and they usually remain stubs. I hope your comments open whoever's eyes and they do something. I'm said about this occasion, but I'm happy users like you do worry for it. It's great, and whenever I have time, I'll try to help out. I'm not a big fan of other Indian films other than Bollywood, but nevertheless. Thanks, --ShahidTalk2me 18:59, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template request edit

Hi, yes we meet again so soon. Since you are quite good in templates, see the infamous Template:CinemaoftheUS :), I have a request. I want to change Template:Monty Python to standard show collapsed since the template right now is just too big. Unfortunately right now it doesn't collapse at all of course and I don't really know how make it a: collapsible and b: to automatically show collapsed. Could you help? Garion96 (talk) 18:54, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Collapsible is not so easy in this regard. state=collapsed only works I think for standard naxbox templates, this one is made from scratch. I will ask your expert for advice. Thanks, Garion96 (talk) 19:03, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
The expert fixed it, thanks for the referral. Garion96 (talk) 21:07, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

British Virgin Islands template edit

Well done on the producing the British Virgin Islands template and splitting out the various islands. I am not quite sure where you sourced your data, but the template needs to be tightened up a bit. Key islands such as Ginger Island, Cooper Island, Scrub Island and Green Cay seem to be missing, but to balance them out you have stuck in some non-existent islands (like Little Wickhams Cay (not actually a separate island, but an area of reclaimed land in Road Town, firmly attached to Tortola) and Diamond Cay (by which I think you mean the Diamond Cay National Park on Little Jost Van Dyke, which again is not physically separate)). There is also a bit of duplication in the template, in that you have a link for Dog Islands and then separate links for each one of them (same for Little Sisters (or Seven Sisters). Good job generally; I'll try and stick in some of the missing islands, but don't be offended if I have to list a couple of the non-existent islands as AfDs. --Legis (talk - contribs) 01:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem at all. I want to check a few things before I delete anything; there are a lot of tiny rocks around in the BVI, so I don't want to remove anything in error only to later discover that it did exist, but I had just never heard of it. I will try and get ahold of a decent nautical chart. --Legis (talk - contribs) 11:33, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I will definitely have to try and take the boat out and get some photos. The articles look a bit bare without them (especially the ones relating to uninhabited islands!). I recalled another island that we forgot - Prickly Pear - which I will stick on at some point. --Legis (talk - contribs) 17:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

France Map for Communes of X dept/ Renders funky in Firefox/linux edit

Heya, The map is very nice, and while I'm sure it looks great under IE or more common os's, Firefox 2.0 on Linux plops the map right on top of the right hand column. There's a screenshot here.

I fiddled with it a bit, but just can't get the second column to break. Also, without the "thumb" tag, the image appears much larger and grainy. Is this something with to two column layout + unframed image = funkiness? I don't know, but I thought you should know there may be some potential problem. CheersT L Miles 14:06, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I think you're right that it does make the whole thing nicer, but you should take a look and see how it renders. If it's just Firefox on Linux, that's no big deal, as the numbers using that are small. If it's Firefox on Windows (which I don't have access to at the momement), then we need to find a fix, as that is a large portion of people viewing it. IF that is the case, then I'm sure this is a problem that has been documented (I assume in the interaction of double columns of tables and a image with short text.T L Miles 18:05, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've checked this problem on Windows 98, and the Firefox renders the same (i.e. badly) there. I made a change to Communes of the Orne department to try and fix it. Let me know if you think this is better. Kiwipete 08:20, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes edit

I knew my recent edits would probably draw a message from you. So I guess now it's time for me to explain myself. I'm going through the film list templates and putting them in their own category. I've found the clapperboard icons are being used too large. They'll max out at 100px without getting jagged looking. The "Encyclopedia of" additions seems redundant and a bit bizarre, like they aren't part of "Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia" but from another website entirely. I guess I can understand why you've boosted the point size on the headers, to give them more weight, but I don't believe it is necessary. It makes the templates look busier than they need to be. — WiseKwai 16:54, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Apologies, mate. Didn't mean to step on your toes or give the impression I'm ignoring you. I guess I'm a bit preoccupied at the moment with some real-world issues that I won't bore you with. No excuse, I guess. I was just blowing through the templates for a bit today as a form of relaxation. I'd like to see the film lists looking better, too. Free-use or public-domain film images will help spice things up and get the lists headed toward featured-list status. I wonder if there's any film list that might easily be promoted? — WiseKwai 17:08, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I go to press previews and film premieres when I get the chance, and take my little digital camera. So yeah, the photos are mine. Most aren't very good, but some turn out quite nice. List of Thailand's submissions for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film is an example. The Chatrichalerm photo was taken on the move, so the focus is too soft. I'm not happy with the photo at all, but it's there, taking up space. The Pen-ek photo, meanwhile, is taken from too far away, but I had the time and just kept snapping and snapping, and eventually he clicked with my camera. I think he took the photo himself, even though I was standing perhaps nine meters away pushing the button. It's one of my favorite shots. — WiseKwai 17:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Danish-Thai? I can't think who you're referring to ... I was wrestling with the Bangkok Int'l Film Festival organizers, trying to get them to state the terms and conditions of the photos they had taken during the fest by Getty Imagenet. They never would own up and state their terms, making things very ambiguous. That's even worse than copyright. At least there, you know where you stand. It's too bad, because their photographer took some great pictures, but I can't use them. — WiseKwai 19:35, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I would recommend you write fresh prose rather than copy-and-paste statements found directly in a source. You are correct that "bare facts" are not, as a rule, copyrightable (although that's not always the case; I refer you to the relevant US copyright laws), expressions of those facts (that is, specific written statements) always are.
Strictly speaking, even if you copy a short blurb from a copyrighted source and change the wording you are, at best, creating a derived work from the original, and that would remain a copyright violation. If you insist on rephrasing text found elsewhere rather than writing your own, you should at least save the article after having modified it— this will avoid triggering CSBot and the wrath of the copyright owner. — Coren (talk) 21:54, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Incidentally, I've looked at the specific article in point, and your original revision, while rephrasing the introduction slightly and deleting some statements, still contains direct cut-and-paste parts. While it's dubious that the author of that short blurb would complain about the copy, it nonetheless is a copyright violation (and would be seen by many as plagiarism, which reflects poorly on the academic credibility of Wikipedia). It's best to just shy away from rewriting and write fresh.
Personally, I would recommend extracting the raw facts into a bulleted list (not in an article), then some time later write a new blurb starting from those facts so that your prose is strictly original. You'll then avoid all problems altogether. — Coren (talk) 22:17, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Laurens Bogtman.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Laurens Bogtman.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

More template talk edit

You'll probably notice I've edited some "Cinema of ..." footer templates. What I'm doing with those is moving the icon to the body of the template, if the template has enough weight to support having the flag down there. If the film industry is big enough, and the template has two or more lines, then I'm swapping the image to the body. Helps make the icon a bit more visible. — WiseKwai 05:35, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

List of cast members in Casino Royale (1967) edit

I made a note on the page that article must be kept.

Tovojolo 15:42, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This one's tricky because it's hard to justify the list of basically every character in the film. Not impossible, mind you, but a major challenge. I would recommend giving minor and uncredited characters a bit of description, as the main characters have.
  • What is noteworthy about Casino Royale is its high status within the film industry.
  • Well established stars like Peter O'Toole and sporting legends like Stirling Moss were prepared to take uncredited parts in the film just to be able to work with the other members of the cast.
  • The film also proved to be young Anjelica Huston's first experience of work in the movie industry as she was called upon by her father, John Huston to cover the screen shots of Deborah Kerr's hands.

Those statements aren't referenced. They all really need it, and the first one seems a little POV: Who says it has a high status, let alone that that makes it noteworthy? (If this can be verified, excellent.) Cliff smith 23:06, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greetings, Ernst. I believe you're one of the master-minds behind the Lists of Japanese films. I've contributed a little to those in the past, and am now starting a comprehensive List of Nikkatsu Roman Porn films from 1971-1988 (the entire run of the series). If you have time, could you take a look at it (in progress) at my user-page? I'd appreciate any pointers or suggestions you may have to improve it. Regards. Dekkappai 21:10, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Ernst. Yes, I'll try mimicking the other formats better. Notability is often an issue brought up on individual porn star articles, but I'd think a list of highly significant films such as these should get by. Several of these films won the equivalent of the Japanese Academy Award-- this is high-class porn we're talking about! Dekkappai 21:51, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

A username? I used to be a logged editor with over 20000 edits. But I determined that I didn't really need a username to revert vandalism and policy breakers... so I rejected my username and became an anon. I now have over 20000 edits as an anon and not having a name has never been an issue. I edit based on policy, concensus and set guidelines. And as long as I continue to do so... I am never wrong. I read talk pages, Project decrees, administrator discussions etc. I have never been issued a warning of any kind that wasn't either an error or simply trolling from an editors whose "anti-wiki" edits or vandalism I had removed. My static IP page(I do have one when I am at work) is abundant with Barnstars... which doesn't happen to too many IP editors. I used very specific edit summaries and quote policy often. I have no desire to be an admin(as a logged editor I declined over a dozen nominations) so I have no use for a make-believe username. Fair use rationale for Image:I_shotthesheriff.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:I_shotthesheriff.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Alpta 20:32, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template edit

Hello Jamie-Ernst. I need your help. You are also a geography fan and frequently create new geo-stubs. You also use a templates which show all municipalities in subsequent region or district. There is a problem with {{Jeseník District}}. User Bolekpolivka continues to add also historical villages to this template which confuses readers and is not correct. You already know that such templates are supposed to show only current existing municipalities. Therefore I beg you to help me keep this template in correct state. Thank you. - Darwinek 09:47, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Current version of this template shows independent municipalities, villages which are now part of other indep. municipalities and nonexistent historical villages in the same place. My version (still being reverted by this user) shows only current municipalities according to the Czech law. The difference is clearly visible. - Darwinek 17:59, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I agree. His solution is completely wrong and confusing to all readers. Sooner or later templates for other Czech districts will appear (same as the Slovak ones) and all will be consistent, except this one. This isn't good. P.S. Congrats for your tireless effort :). - Darwinek 19:07, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

About copyright edit

I'm afraid I didn't quite understand your comment on my talk page: "All new articles now will be useless stubs of course so we don't get the big black mark on them". Wikipedia articles are not supposed to be copied from copyrighted sources, so, therefore, they don't have copyright problems; and, no, not all new articles are stubs. I noticed you have done a partial revert to Ngapoi Ngawang Jigme, minus most of the copyighted material, which is basically fine. I'm going to do some clean up on some grammatical and formatting flaws that I noticed in that article. By the way, are there any other articles you started that have copyright problems? I can help clean them up or get them deleted in they are mostly copyrighted. Thanks, Nat Krause(Talk!·What have I done?) 19:27, 8 September 2007 (UTC).Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Zorinairship.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Zorinairship.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. List of cast members in Casino Royale (1967) edit

Has this article been deleted then ?

I moved material to the main article as a "safety policy" in case the article was deleted.

If it has been deleted then we have to get the main article into shape for GA status. I'll delete the minor and uncredited characters from the main article as must conform to GA standards. But I'll leave the notes relating to the minor and uncredited characters as they give valuable information.

What do you think ?

GA articles only focus on the major characters anyway.

Tovojolo 14:51, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

I was looking at the other James Bond articles.

I'll leave everything as it is as I wanted your views.

In my view there's only some referencing that needs to be done and then it'll be ready for GA status.

I don't like it all that much, to be honest. Keep in mind that the color is standardized across all military infoboxes, not only the conflict one; while that color may look suitable for a (land) battle, it'll look pretty strange on, say, a ship infobox. Kirill 21:22, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Film list redirects edit

Hey, I've just been going over the lists in order to tag appropriate articles with task force parameters, and when I got to Argentina, specifically Category:Argentine films my jaw hit the floor. I know that it's been a while since you actually made these edits, but for future reference please do not redirect films into lists. (And making circular links is bad anyway.) Now I've got a category comprised of several thousand articles, most of which do not actually have their own articles and thus shouldn't exist. I'd AfD it except that...wow, that's a lot of time to compile the AfD. Luckily the redirects are italicized in the category results, but I still have no idea how many real articles I'm looking at. Anyway, I'm sorry if this is coming through rather frustrated, but being that I just finished tagging over 700 Chinese articles...;) I just want to know how much real work (notwithstanding the mega-AfD) I have to do for Argentina. Girolamo Savonarola 05:54, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry if you take offense, because I'm not trying to scold you; I'm just explaining what the problem is and why it should be avoided in the future. And I do recognize that you have put in a lot of positive work for the project, for which I am grateful. :) However, before doing giant quantities of work, especially involving structure, it is generally a good idea to run that through other editors ahead of time, so as to avoid any possible unforeseen problems that may occur. The reason why other editors are constantly complaining is not because you aren't working hard, it's because you are working inefficiently, which is frustrating to see. None of us want your work to be wasted - that's the point: if you're going to put so much effort in, it might as well be worth it. The solution to that problem isn't to overlook the mistakes or skirt around them because you put so much effort in; it's to not make those mistakes in the future. Process is important.
I'm still on the fence about an AfD, but I'll consult with some other editors and see what the sentiment is. Girolamo Savonarola 10:57, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think that the articles which are merely redirects really should be AfD'd. The problem is that if they aren't red-linked, they give the impression that an article exists for the topic, which it does not. (The list is not intended to actually replace or supercede them in any long-term interest, I presume.) The other issue is that just because these films have entries on the IMDb in no way guarantees that each film will actually meet our notability standards, nor does it mean that any editor will ever emerge who can write a substantial article. Many IMDb entries include films which are no longer extant, or which have virtually no information and are extremely difficult to find. It is better that the article link to all of the films on the list, but keep the links red so that editors will be able to more clearly see which ones require entries.
And just for the record, efficiency has nothing to do with number of edits. In many cases it's inversely proportional. That's not meant as an insult - only to consider that the amount of work to undo this situation could've been more profitably spent elsewhere had standard guidelines (like not redirecting a link into its own article) been followed in the first place. I think you do a lot of tremendous work here, but as I and other editors have mentioned before, sometimes consulting the community first is good. Take the new {{Film}} template I just upgraded. It's not flawless at the moment, I'll be the first to acknowledge. But it was raised for community discussion for a long period of time, and the code was fully available for dissection. I tested it as best as I could, but apparently some bugs went unnoticed. The difference, however, is that since it's a template, it's very easy to correct it, and within a few edits, the entire transclusion set can be corrected. Doing larger actions like individually tagging articles with unapproved categories or creating large sets of redirect articles are not things which can be easily undone with a few quick edits - it requires as much time to undo them, if not more, than the time spent editing them.
All I'm trying to say is that when you see this happening in multiple instances, please try to consider that we're not against you, just your implementation. Large-scale work tends to be well-received and avoids problems when planning and consultation with the community happens ahead of time. That is the entire reason why WP Films exists - to coordinate large issues involving many articles. Girolamo Savonarola 22:05, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

La Kermesse héroïque edit

Hello Blofeld. A bit of a tangle has arisen over the naming of this film and two stub articles had been established, one under Carnival in Flanders (film), and the other under La Kermesse Héroique (part of the problem being that the latter lacked its two dots on the 'i'). I wanted to expand the article and have used the first one, mainly because most of the cross-references were pointing there anyway (and even though the French title is very widely used) - and I have incorporated the material and pictures which I think you originally supplied for the other article. Do you think that the remaining article at La Kermesse Héroique should be turned into a Redirect now? I'm not sure about the implications of this for any remaining cross-refs. Obliged for your thoughts. Lampernist 18:10, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just a note edit

I should explain to you that as a rule, I generally don't go out of my way to offer editors compliments. Encouragement in specific circumstances, yes; praise in response to things offered for critique, yes. That's just my wiki-philosophy - I'm here to help write (and facilitate the writing) of an encyclopedia for long-term usage, and nothing more. When I create a WikiProject, do thousands of assessments, tag thousands of articles with parameters, or spend months tinkering with complex template syntax, I do it with as little of my ego as I can. And that's something that, fair or not, I retain on the whole. I'm not in this for the credit, and I'm not in it for the edit-count. I've been offered several barnstars and turned them down. I generally go about with the editing, and if I speak up, it's because I see what may be a problem and would like to see it addressed. No more, no less. I'm not interested in the editors pro or con (with the exception of vandals) - I'm just interested in addressing the issues. Because of these factors, it may seem that I only complain, but I believe that my edits show otherwise. I only ask that you keep that in mind in the future, and allow us to discuss this issues - how much work has or hasn't gone into the matter and who did it is not pertinent. I'll try to keep that in mind wrt my own comments as well. But if you're holding out for me to congratulate you for your work, I must let you know that it's not likely to happen; usually, when I hold an editor in high regard, I show my respect by consulting with them when there are thoughts I need to bounce off of a third opinion. I hope that perhaps we can reach that state in the near future. Regards, Girolamo Savonarola 23:43, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Villages in Tibet edit

I appreciate your effort, but I don't think the way you're creating all these stubs on Tibetan villages is very helpful, because all these articles are orphaned and based on one single source, fallingrain.org (not “fallinggrain.org”), which is not very reliable (e.g. many spellings are wrong) and the articles are all orphaned.

I suggest a top-down approach to tie these stubs or future articles into the existing structure. Have a look at the List of administrative divisions of Tibet Autonomous Region—everything's already been done down to the county level. The stubs you create about the villages give rough coordinates, but it would make much more sense to add links from the counties to the village articles to make them easier to locate.

Do you know Tibetan and/or Chinese? I'm afraid without at least one of those languages, research will be rather difficult. —Babelfisch 04:36, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Christmas trees edit

Thank you!! : ) IvoShandor 17:22, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I absolutely have, I would love to see every major country have its own article about production, the Canadian and U.S. articles are in progress within my user space, you can see everything I have done and am working on at this page. I just need enough sources (and time) to compile them. If you know of any good sources, do pass them along, especially about nations with smaller productions (like Norway) I haven't seen (nor really looked for) anything specific about such locales. IvoShandor 17:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I definitely will, at the very least I could make some additions to Christmas tree production and perhaps, if I can't find enough info for stand-alone country articles, I could start with a Christmas tree production in Europe article. This is something I already thought of doing, but its possible I may be able to come up with enough for a couple individual European articles, probably Christmas tree production in the United Kingdom and Christmas tree production in Germany, so if you see those go from red to blue, you'll know my quest for knowledge and its free dissemination has been successful. Thanks again for the kudos. IvoShandor 18:19, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Indeed we do, you will notice my name in the edit history on a recent move. : ) The one we don't have, and need (probably among several others that are notable enough for an article) is the National Christmas Tree Association, hint hint. ;) IvoShandor 18:29, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I saw your comment over at John Hill's talk page regarding places in Tibet. Since you make use of a latitude/longitude field, I suggest you get in touch with the folks at Template:Infobox UK place. For example, see Exeter for a bigger town, and Guildford for a smaller one. -- Fullstop 17:56, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll request a peer review for the page as you suggested, thanks. I really want it to be as good as possible. My best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 16:16, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

WOW, if I were you, I could never do that. You're a genius, it's really great. See you, talk2me. --ShahidTalk2me 22:33, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, sorry to disturb you I just came to ask you regarding the images. What's going? Is there any progression with the site and its rights and license? It's just interesting. Best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 16:21, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

What? Not at all! You didn't brag... And I'm happy for your achievements here, I appreciate your great efforts here my great pal... More so when you're telling me that and informing me about them, I don't consider it as brag, just the opposite,it makes me feel that we're really friends:). Keep the great work! --ShahidTalk2me 16:46, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Really? It's based on that? Nice! Thanks for your compliments, no I haven't seen, but I will definitely watch it if it's really good. BTW, just to note, I'm watching Hollywood films as well, I'm a big fan of Bollywood but definitely like Hollywood. It was just a note :P Best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 18:07, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

And have watched many Argentine films (that's how I understand and speak Spanish). I'm saying that cause I know you've been working on that too. --ShahidTalk2me 18:09, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yea I knoe it's not Hollywood. Oh are you talking about thiese films? LOL, The Good the Bad and the Ugly is one of my favorite films and my dad can't stop watching it. I really liked this film. --ShahidTalk2me 18:15, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Really? I like them too!!! I personally can't live without Gone With The Wind... Bette Davis is undoubtedly my favorite actress, as you see I'm not a big fan of recent films, although there are some good ones... --ShahidTalk2me 18:27, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh god he's so stupid. That's a nonsense. The trees are really suitable for the place... I have to say that your place of residence is really beautiful. How does it feel living there? Do you like your area? I'll be here in 30-40 minutes... --ShahidTalk2me 19:17, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Your phrases in your last message to me are some of the strongest I have ever heard from an editor on the Wiki. I'd rather live somewhere a bit more exotic but we can't help where we are born or what nationality we are. We kind of gotta make the best of what we've been given and deal with it. is a brilliant one, and sorry for not responding to you I wasn't at home!:) Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 21:56, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image issue edit

For Image:PreityZinta.jpg, you indicate that this was released under a CC license. You have not provided the specific source and I cannot find a page on that site with the image and noting that the image is released under that license. Could you please correct this? Thanks! --Yamla 21:01, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Category splitting edit

Hey, how are you doing? Congrats on the name change, when did that happen? For the categories, that sounds reasonable to do, but I myself will not be able to assist since I already have too much on my plate. I'd recommend bringing this up to the project's talk page to get a general consensus first to ensure we're not duplicating work, categorizing too much, etc. I'm sure there will be some editors who will be willing to help, and for something this big, it should be brought to the attention of any other interested members. Good luck, and keep up the good work. --Nehrams2020 22:13, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well what? --Nehrams2020 23:55, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it would be better to bring this up at the Categorization Department. Girolamo Savonarola 17:25, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:HenrikMalberg .jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:HenrikMalberg .jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Shell babelfish 00:22, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Correction edit

Hey, I just thought I'd correct you. Pa7 is a she not he, I thought I'd notify you on this should you decide to send me a message in the future. Kind regards. -- Pa7 14:32, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the compliment! Where are you gettting the images from? I liked the image of Preity Zinta. Are you trying to get permission to use other images for other actors because that would be brilliant for the Bollywood pages. -- Pa7 15:46, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, we did do some good work on the Shilpa Shetty article, I think it looks great. Im just wondering, will you be allowed to upload all these images, because like you said there is a problem with the licensing. In which case, I hope you find the appropriate license and get uploading. The images will be a great asset to the article. Yep, I saw the article your working on. I did some editing on Bollywood films of the 2000s but there are so many that I have not been able to complete it. I mostly did the 2006 to 2007 films. If you need any help with the article then I'll be happy to volunteer. Good luck with the images, I hope they get approved. It's a bit sad really because all the editors that used to work on Wikipedia have all left. User:Plumcouch edited a few days ago but she did not reply to my message. Anyways keep up the good work. Kind regards. -- Pa7 16:04, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hey, sorry I didn't see you P.S. Yeh, I'll try and fill them in, might take some time but will get started on it. -- Pa7 17:09, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem, always happy to help. I'll get started on the rest of the list soon. BTW, I was looking at your user page and gallery. I've taken two images from there and put them on my user page. They were absoloutely beautiful and I may take some more, hope you don't mind? I had a look at your userboxes, so your from Wales? I've only been there once but I was so young I can't remember any of it. I've always wanted to go to Snowdon, and go for a hike in the area! Regards. -- Pa7 22:15, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

WOW!! That view would be to die for. I'd love that sort of view outside my house. I live in the city so all I see are roads, cars and loads of smog! The beach looks beautiful, full of pebbles. Im a total film boff, so I have a poster of Bumblebee from Transformers and Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, just for the fact that he's fit! Im not a die-hard Bruce Lee fan but I've watched some of his films and yeh he's wicked! I've never been to Tibet but the country looks beautiful. Regards. -- Pa7 13:39, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeh I loved Keith Richards' cameo, I think Bill Nighy said he was drunk whilst acting the scene out. Johnny Depp is just fantastic, he's my one of my favourite actors. His performance as Jack Sparrow was brilliant, only he could have played someone as nutty as the character. I loved his entrance in The Black Pearl, as he enters the harbour his boat begins to sink! Absolutely brilliant! I hope the Spanish is correct - Adios mi amigo. -- Pa7 13:58, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
They had to hold him up, he must have been really drunk! Like you said the man is to live a very long life, good thing to because I love the The Rolling Stones. Your Spanish is brilliant! -- Pa7 14:07, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

BRILLIANT! WELL DONE! What a accomplishment for the Bollywood pages. I thank you personally for your hard work and efforts. Here's a list of people that need images: Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Amrita Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar, Kunal Khemu, Amrita Arora, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgan, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Esha Deol, Aftab Shivdasani, Amisha Patel, Raveena Tandon, Dia Mirza -- this is all I can think of for now, and I guess that is enough.

BTW, the image you uploaded for Kajol is not her but her sister Tanisha, so you may want to find another image for Kajol. Also was the Zinta image taken at a certain place because we can then add the caption info?

Again, thanks a lot for your contribution to the articles. For your hard work, I give you this:

Well, I don't think the light logo mark will lesser the quality of the encyclopedia. We'd be lucky if all the images are like Preity Zinta's. The quality of the encyclopedia is the content written in the article, it's just an image so I feel the images with the light logo will be fine. If you can, try and get images like Zinta's, that image was really nice. You can do whatever you want with your barnstar, so yes convert it into the India cinema award. Go crazy with it! Oh no! Well if we can't keep them, then there is nothing we can do about it. I mean you don't want to get into trouble with this and when I mean "trouble" I mean illegal trouble. Hopefully everything will work out, at least you tried your best. -- Pa7 16:30, Pa7 16:30, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:PreityZinta.jpg edit

Regarding Image:PreityZinta.jpg, you state: "Under the terms of this agreement wikipedia is free to use all images on the site providing they are for information purposes only and are not used with malicious or commercial gain." I'm confused. Are they providing additional restrictions over and above cc-1.0? Note that Wikipedia cannot use images which restrict commercial reuse. Additionally, I am concerned about the malicious restriction. This is ill-defined and would definitely prevent our use. In summary, if they have licensed the image under cc-1.0 with no other restrictions, we are free to use the image. However, if they have restricted commercial reuse or malicious reuse, we can not use any of their images. See WP:COPYREQ. Could you please forward your email to me? Thanks. --Yamla 14:03, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Infobox Settlement for Tibet edit

I made the changes to {{Infobox Settlement}} to help you out. Below is the a "half-filled in" template that will make it easier for you. Please familiarize yourself with the explanation table that is on the main page of Infobox Settlement.

Note that in the code below you must remove some of the editor notes (<!-- -->) that are wrapped around certain things like the translit section. Also, in order for the "Pushpin_map" to work correctly you must have the coordinate fields filled in; otherwise remove "China" from the Pushpin_map. You will need to fill in Town or Village in "settlement_type", otherwise the default is city. You probably won't need all these fields and they can be removed if you desire. When you figure out which fields will do, you may want to place the template code at Wikipedia:WikiProject Tibet for others to use. Good Luck. I'll be around if you have questions. —MJCdetroit 16:48, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tibetan towns and villages edit

Dear Ernst: I think the infobox is fabulous - a big plus to the articles! Good work, my friend - and thanks!

Now, I have been doing a lot of minor edits on Tibetan pages recently and written one short article (on Ekai Kawaguchi - a Japanese monk who spent a couple of years in disguise in Tibet at the beginning of the 20th century).

I have also been adding WikiProject Tibet boxes in the discussion pages of many articles on Tibetan subjects (for instance, on all the early Dalai Lamas). I can't figure it out - do they update and add links to the WikiProject Tibet automatically somehow? Or, should I go through and add links to these articles manually? Do you have any advice on how to do this properly?

Oh, yes, I'd love to go back to Tibet (in the summer time). If I had the money I would have gone this year and taken my 41 year-old son (who speaks Tibetan). I especially want to go to Kailash and Samye - both of which I missed out on last time. Unfortunately, I am not up to much hiking as I have emphysema (from the usual stupid smoking habit) but, so far at least, I seem to have never got serious altitude sickness (knock on my wooden head!). What about you? When are you going to try to get there? Maybe we could meet up somewhere there?? Now, that would be fun! Cheers and all best wishes, John Hill 22:51, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just to add, the Infobox does indeed look great and will really improve the articles. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 14:56, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Taipei edit

Please reduce information about the National Taiwan University on the Taipei article to two paragraphs. In effect, you'll need to prioritize the most important information about NTU within those two paragraphs and leave all other details in the main article on the university. Thank you. Nikkatsu Roman Porno films edit

Hello Mr. Blofeld... I've submitted that List of Nikkatsu Roman Porno films I was working on a while ago. (Perhaps you've enjoyed a few in that secret volcano base of yours? :-) ) There's still a lot of work to do on it, but I'll be AFK for a while, and thought I might as well put up what I've got done. If you know of a way to link it into the general Lists of Japanese films, please do so. Thanks. Dekkappai 22:39, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greetings from Cooktown! edit

Hi Ernst! Thanks for the great video link! Fabulous! Oh, and don't worry too much about me - I quit smoking totally some 9 years ago - and I don't seem to be getting much worse (or only very gradually) but I do have permanent damage + I had to have part of my left lung removed many years ago after damaging my lung while working at underwater prospecting in New Zealand.

I agree with your view of the Wikipedia - the concept of it is fantastic. My idea is that the encyclopedia articles should not be overwhelming in detail (otherwise it will unusable) but should provide enough links to obtain comprehensive information on just about any subject. The vandalism and censors get a bit boring though. I have better things to do than spend long hours reversing vandalism, fighting racists, and replacing material censored out by puritans and government thugs.

Yes, I have quite a few more photos on Lhasa, Tibet and related subjects - though I have posted most of the best ones by now. However, I will keep uploading more as I can find the time. Also, I have just bought a fabulous new scanner (which can do slides and negatives as well) and, hopefully, I should be able to find more useable images amongst my boxes of photos after I get it up and running.

I hope you are going to accompany your parents to Machu Picchu. My parents - and my gandfather all visited it and it is on my (rather long) list of places I want to vist. By the way, Far North Queensland is a pretty fabulous place to visit as well and accomodation is free at our little guesthouse here in the bush. Would make an excellent place to stop off on your way to Tibet and Jo (my partner) would love to meet you too - she has also travelled extensively and would love to return to Tibet. Please keep it in mind. Cheers and all best wishes, John Hill 05:05, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reply about American Films edit

Hello, an thanks for your message.

I just followed WP:DEADLINE. I don't see an absolute rush for this.

When I said I will be doing this to every article, I didn't realise that "every article" is a big amount, and since I was just adding tags, I decided to stop before I could just fill the pages with tags. What I can see, "This list is incomplete" should be enough to tell that the lists are indeed incomplete.

And you can't change edit summaries afterwards. It was something minor I was doing because I was bored. If you want to keep improving the articles, you can remove the tags and are more than welcome to do so. When I'll be back from my break, I could give you a helping hand if possible. ~Iceshark7 12:47, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I understand your points, and I'd love to see the pages complete. You can go and remove the tags - those are not a serious deal and more intended for random improving I seem to do around Wikipedia. ~Iceshark7 12:57, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Argetinian Films edit

I don't really know what's going on there, and really don't care...no offense. If you redirect them all, that's fine. If you delete them all to make them redlinks, that's fine. Both have their pros and cons. If they are deleted, I'm sure that any created will be stubs and never make it past that. I don't believe there is a high demand to develope those films, unfortunately, and so those pages suffer for it.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:47, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I said they'd never be more than stubs, because of the low number of editors interested in them. Also, it's probably much harder to find information on them. I won't go into the problems withat Kamchatka, but it certainly isn't a stub. Point being, I'm not saying none of them would be, just that most wouldn't be more than stubs because of the lack of available resources for foreign films in general, which is stretched even thinner when you start getting into more obscure foreign films like Argentinian films.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 15:11, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you can get some up and running, more power to ya. They are pretty much out of my field of vision; as in, I don't know anything about those types of films.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 15:20, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

McRae edit

It was quite a shock indeed. McRae, Burns, Possum Bourne and Michael Park all dead within the last few years. Prolog 20:13, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it's odd that drivers can fly 200 kmh between deadly trees on a narrow road and drive on the edges of cliffs for 20 years and then die in ordinary accidents. There must be some kind of a curse on British rally drivers. Prolog 20:27, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:CambodianRedCross.gif edit

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:CambodianRedCross.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:38, 16 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Thank you so much edit

It's great we now can use images under a free license thanks to your help. --ShahidTalk2me 14:55, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeh I'vee seen that. My suggestion is that if there images with a slight marking on them, so we won't use them here, cause it is not suitable for an encyclopedia. I will look some more for Zinta later. Thanks, --ShahidTalk2me 15:03, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Gah! This page says that Wikipedia is granted an exclusive license. This is not acceptable. We cannot use the images if they are only licensed for the Wikipedia. Can you please clear up if the images can be used only on Wikipedia under the terms of the CC-by-3.0 license or if, once used on the Wikipedia, they can be used by anyone under these terms? --Yamla 15:17, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have responded on my page. --Yamla 15:32, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes I'm a bit uncomfortable with these images with a logo slight and I think other users and admins will oppose since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and we can't use images which are obviously come from this site. It looks copyvio and doesn't suits WP articles. If imaged can be modified - so it's OK. Thank you for your help! --ShahidTalk2me 15:43, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hope you don't get angry with me, thanks, --ShahidTalk2me 15:51, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problems. For now, the best thing we can do is taking only clear photos and everybody's happy. An encyclopedia cannot use images with slight logos. It's not suitable I think, so we will wait untill someone comes and modifies it. For now, we must be selective. Hey congrats for the barnstar. You're truly deserving! --ShahidTalk2me 16:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK, yeh because I didn't want this one which was watermarked. It strange when on the Wikipedia, an encyclopedia, there's an image with a slight logo. The logo on Kareena's image is almost unnoticed so it's OK (and she looks gorgeous in this one), but please try to avoid using watermarked images. The best for us is using clear images. My best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 18:41, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
BTW, I've found five or six clear images for Preity Zinta. I just thought to add some of her with her boyfriend, but I'm not sure now. --ShahidTalk2me 18:43, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm oppsing to these logos just for the articles' sake. --ShahidTalk2me 18:47, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh it's a pitty it is such a beautiful place... A stupid guy! I hate him... LOL... Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 18:58, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure I want to upload now images of Zinta. I'd rather expand the article and then add one or two necessary images. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 19:00, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar edit

  The Barnstar of Diligence
For all your hard work getting the hollywoodblog license sorted out appropriately. Yamla 16:00, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
By the way, if any images tagged with that license are marked as problematic (nld, for example) by me, please feel free to remove the problem tag. --Yamla 16:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ernst, great work! I forwarded the permission to OTRS, when they reply with the ticket number we will include that on the image page, so if any question comes up 5 years from now when we are all gone, someone will be able to look up the permission and verify it. I have one request - instead of using {{Bollywoodblog}} as the license, could you please use the template {{cc-by-3.0}}? That template has an optional piped parameter to include all the text from your {{Bollywoodblog}}, and has the advantage of being a standardized license template that is recognized by all the image patrolling bots.
Basically, the license text would be as follows:
{{Cc-by-3.0|This image is owned by Caledonian Publishing Limited which operates the website http://www.bollywoodblog.com . All photographs used by this site are exclusively created by their own photographers based in Mumbai. However, having contacted the site and being informed by the Director of Caledonian Publishing Limited they would be very willing to assist with free images for use on wikipedia, permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify these images from wikipedia only under the [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Creative Commons 3.0], providing the site is attributed and a direct link running to the source on their site is provided. Wikipedia has therefore been granted special permission under the [http://www.bollywoodblog.com/category/All-News/Bollywoodblog-com-picture-licensing-policy/ Bollywoodblog picture licensing policy] to permit its images under the The Creative Commons 3.0 license.}}
Also, I recommend that the images be on Commons so that they can be used by Wikimedia projects, I do all my uploads there. If you don't have a Commons account or don't want to bother with that, let me know - I'm a trusted user with a bot that can do the moves from here to Commons.
Once we have the OTRS ticket number we can leave a message with the Wikiprojects that may want to use images from that site, so other people can grab the photos and do the uploads as well. I was a little concerned about the watermarks (WP:IUP says watermarks are not allowed on user-created images) but since these images are not user-created I don't believe that applies in this case.
Again, great work!
P.S. I saw before I hit "save" that Riana replied with the ticket number and a request for clarification. They're very cautious about copyright, so please forgive the legal hassle. She has at least assigned the ticket number, so, if all concerns are satisfied, please include the following template in the image description (this template won't work inside the license template), it needs to be in the image description: {{PermissionOTRS-ID|2007091710010455}}. I also recommend using {{Information}} on the image description pages to make them more readable and clear. Thanks again! Videmus Omnia Talk 16:32, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Please don't add that yet, though (I'll add it myself once the ticket is closed). Thanks, and thanks very much for all your hard work in getting this off the ground. ~ Riana 16:37, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry about the blocking thing, it wasn't your fault :) Um, well, I suppose you could redirect the {{Bollywoodblog}} template to {{cc-by-3.0}}? Or you could just leave it as is, I don't think anyone would really complain. ~ Riana 16:47, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
On the license template, I'm just concerned that {{Bollywoodblog}} won't be recognized by the bots (per the Foundation, all licenses have to be in machine-readable format, hence the reason that WP:IUP requires the use of standardized copyright tags). If you want to continue to use the above template, you probably need to use {{cc-by-3.0}} in addition to it. Since the standardized tag is required anyway, it's probably not necessary to have two license templates on the page. Sorry for all the arcana, you know how complex image policy can be. Videmus Omnia Talk 16:48, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
*bother again* Also, if possible, could you request them for unwatermarked photos instead of watermarked ones? e.g. the Mallika Sherawat one. (This is also a good way to verify that they are the original copyright holders, because then they'd have the original copies of the photos). Thanks again, ~ Riana 16:52, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

Yeh, I know what you mean! I can't find my entry on your page either, I think you better archive. The image is OK, unless you can find a better one but that one is fine as well. Im trying to find out where the pics were taken. I went on Preity Zinta's official website and found out that pic was taken on the sets of Indian Idol 2. Also, congrats on your second barnstar of the day. Regards. -- Pa7 18:17, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmmmm... I think the image is good, but yes I agree that the image should correspond with the article. Maybe an image showing him at an event? -- Pa7 18:24, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't think having a watermarked image takes anything anyway from the article because the main point of the article is the content. I guess having a meeting would be better to get everyone's opinions on this. I found an image of Kareena Kapoor, what do you think? [3] Also, thanks for your kind words, its nice to know my work is appreciated. -- Pa7 18:39, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Wow, she looks great in that image, much better then the one I suggested. If your friend can get rid of the logo then that would be great. I've done an image for Amrita Rao's page, go check it out. I think maybe one image would be enough for now because there was so much trouble getting the first images, and two might be a bit too soon. What do you think? -- Pa7 18:50, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, whatever works best. I'll start having a look at images for the rest of the actors. Regards. -- Pa7 18:59, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm.. the image looks good, I mean at least the watermark is not across her face! It looks like the mark is blending in with the dress, nevertheless, I'll keep having a look. Regards. -- Pa7 19:05, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I Photoshopped Image:KareenaKapoor.jpg, doing some clone stamp work and messing with the levels a bit so she isn't quite so pink. The watermarks are an annoyance. If they are placed over an intricate sari, I'm not sure there's anything that can be done. How many of these photos do you anticipate using? — WiseKwai 19:00, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think I can do Image:MallikaSherawat1.jpg justice. That bloody watermark cuts across her throat, and any attempt I make to photoslop in there gives her a turkey neck. It'll look horrible. Also, her expression is kind of shell-shocked. Is there another image available? — WiseKwai 20:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:MallikaSherawat.jpg is gonna be a bitch, too, but it's slightly more doable, in that I have more hair to work with. That third option will be even tougher. He skin is so flawless. That's what makes these difficult. Hold off on asking for any deletes, and give me a couple of days. I'll take a stab all three again when I'm well-rested. If you find any others, give me the links on the original website and I can look and see if it's feasible. — WiseKwai 20:50, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

There sending you messages! That's really surprising, I thought some websites might be a bit iffy about their images being on another site, but the fact that their telling you who to upload images for is baffling but good for us! In which case I'll get an update on who needs images. Hey could you help me out with something. On my talk page there are two messages about two movie posters that I uploaded but according to the one that sent me the messages, my fair use rationale is invalid. Is there anyway I can fix this? -- Pa7 18:16, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm.. wierd! I guess Im gonna have to leave it then, strange because I thought the rationale was valid. Thanks for your help anyways. Image update -- done Shahid Kapoor's image, am about to do Ayesha Takia's image. I think I'll put this in an organized list or something on your page -- Pa7 18:34, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
If I had the choice I would make my main page full of pictures of Johnny Depp! Hahaha! Yeh, it would be better to do the list on your secret launch pad. Is it OK if we inform other users that there is a list on your page that way we'll know who's uploading and what we can cross them out? -- Pa7 18:44, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

OMG, REALLY!! That would be wicked! Could you probably include some of the lovely photography that you've got in your gallery. I loved the beautiful scenic ones of spectacular views. Choose any of them, I really don't care! As for the secret page, I will let any relavant users know including User:Shshshsh, even though were not on good terms right now. Thanks so much for creating my main page for me! That's really nice of you. Regards. -- Pa7 18:58, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yep, will do that :-) -- Pa7 19:25, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
OMG, IT'S JOHNNY EVERYWHERE!! That's amazing, I love it. Thank you so much! Hey I've also added the list to the WP:INCINE link you gave me as well as your secret page. I'll add more as I go on. Thanks for the main page, I'll ley you know if I want any tweaks on the page. Regards. -- Pa7 19:31, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I removed the box office status of Ajay Devgan's page as how you told me to. I also arranged the filmography table and arranged the films in chronological order. As for the images I crossed out the ones from your secret note pad that we already have an image for. There are only 5 people from that list that need an image: Karisma Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Zayed Khan, Kunal Khemu and Fardeen Khan. Only these 5 people from the lists are left. I'll try my best to find images for these people. Best Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 17:55, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOL!!! Bollywood guy??? I am just kidding! My first name is Rahul. You can call me by that if you want to .... or Bollywood guy.... !! =) --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 18:03, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
You really have a gr8 sense of humour! LOL! Anyways I uploaded a pic of Karisma Kapoor. What do you think?? Is it too small?? I wasn't able to find a bigger pic. All the other pics have the watermark on it but since I don't have the program I can't remove it! Zinta's article looks great!! Shahid has done a good job expanding it and the images are really nice. BTW I'll try finding another image of Kunal Khemu. Best Regards --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 18:18, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
LOL! My stomach is hurting!! LOL! Sure If I upload an image of a person that's not on the list I'll add their names to the list. Most of the people on the list have already been crossed out since we were able to upload images of them. Bye --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 18:39, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to bother you again but I just uploaded an image of Aamir Khan and Anil Kapoor. Aamir Khan's pic doesn't have a watermark but Kapoor's does. I sort of removed the watermark a little but not the whole thing. You can still see it a bit. Is it okay? --Bollywood Dreamz Talk 19:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello Blofeld. You're actually very close. What you need to do is to either remove the <pre> and </pre> tags or comment them out by prefixing them with //. The text in your monobook.js needs to be valid javascript, so you can't put html tags in there. I'd do it for you, but I'm not allowed to edit your monobook.js (for good reasons *grin*). I hope this helps. henriktalk 15:44, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was going to award you this earlier, when Casino Royale passed, which it finally has. Again, thank you for all your hard work, you really are an important asset to the project. --Nehrams2020 21:46, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I saw that on the talk page about the images. Great job, that will really help to improve the quality of articles we have with that many available images. Usually, when I do the newsletter I look to see if anybody has awarded the film barnstar, and each month I am usually the only one doing it. If you ever see another focused and dedicate film editor, feel free to award them the barnstar also, so we can continue to recognize the excellence of our many members throughout the project. --Nehrams2020 21:55, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

For Mr. Biggleworth edit

The Fauna Barnstar for Mr. Bigglesworth
Blofeld thinks very highly of you, Mr. Biggleworth, and given the quantity and quality of his contributions here, and the fact that you seem to have had a role in them, it struck me that you deserved something too. With your own contributions to some of the wildlife articles, and the vital role you've played in your companion's work, and, as an, ahem, "animal" (no insult intended, sir), you certainly have done your own part to contribute to wikipedia. Keep on purring, big guy. John Carter 21:55, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Co edit

Yes, "co" means "lake" in Tibetan; this is the Tibetan Pinyin spelling of the word. It is more commonly written "tso" in conventional spellings. It can also be spelled "mtsho" or "tsho", and is pronounced [tsʰó] in the Lhasa dialect.—Nat Krause(Talk!·What have I done?) 03:00, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Batmobile.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Batmobile.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Liftarn 10:09, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I had a BIG trouble with Giuseppe De Santis. I've added the info and a picture, but it's so big that had spolit the article format. Can you help me? Gracias. (I've to go out) ciao. Rohmerin 17:36, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, she's not death. I was doing the info box with your Manfredi's one, and I forgot to erase Manfredi's death. Sorry. Rohmerin 11:03, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I always use British google as you said to me. I've added a lot of images today for LIVING Italian actors: If you go to Romanzo Criminale, I've made the actors images except one girl. Maya Sansa and Luigi Lo Cascio too. Please, check if the licences are ok. Sadly, Francisco Rabal died, so I put one beautiful old pic I found Rohmerin 11:22, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I did not know the living exception. Ya decía yo que era etraño que no hubiese imágenes más bonitas para Stefania Sandrelli, Giovanna Mezzogiorno, etc. What a pity of job deleted :-( Rohmerin 11:29, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry. Delete what it's wrong, but I think that Stefano Accorsi is ok but it seems to be done by some paparazzi at Venice Film Festival. And Kim Rossi Stuart is so incredibly gorgeous, what a pity Rohmerin 11:35, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, don't worry. It's my fault because I tried to upload images with my memory, without another page opened to follow the steps. But i'm still "verde" "estar verde" a Spanish proverb, not ready. Sorry. Perdón Rohmerin 16:36, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

this whole week, holidays. But I've done a couple of edits and two or 3 Spanish films more. Rohmerin 15:53, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Batmobile edit

I'm afraid I don't know if this Batmobile exists anymore, but, assuming it doesn't, you make a good case that the image is non-replaceable. However, the image still needs to have the source specified (i.e. that it is a screenshot of the '60s TV series) and whoever the copyright holder of the image is, per WP:NFCC#10. I would also crop the black bars off the image and make it a little smaller. Videmus Omnia Talk 17:57, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I just went and read the Batmobile article. It appears that this Batmobile still exists and is on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. So I'm afraid that it's replaceable by a free image after all. I'm going to do some searching and see if I can come up with a free image. Videmus Omnia Talk 18:41, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Holy cameras, Batman! There are over 2300 Flickr photos with the tag 'Batmobile'. Looks like quite a few are of the actual car. If you have a chance, search through and find some candidates you would like me to request permission for (if you can't find any that are already free.) Videmus Omnia Talk 19:03, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
That one works - the correct license template would be {{cc-by-2.0}}. Videmus Omnia Talk 19:29, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, just the car. That should be less of a problem. See Commons:Category:Batmobile. //

Two disputed images edit

I've tagged both Image:ThisMorningphilipandfern.jpg and Image:This Morning richardandjudy.jpg because I dispute the (templated) rationales you've given (details on both image description pages). Brad 12:46, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:This Morning richardandjudy.jpg is just an image to show what they look like and is in violation of WP:NON-FREE#Unacceptable images. If it was, say, a screenshot of the two presenting a significant feature of the programme then that would be completely different as a free alternative would not be available for that. As for Image:ThisMorningphilipandfern.jpg -- it's an advert, and advertising is not discussed in the text. And since you mentioned it, I'm not against all images. Just those that have no point. Mallika Sherawat edit

Image:Mallika Sherawat.jpg is knocked into better proportion. It's still not pretty - it looks like screengrab from a music video - but at least it doesn't have that bloody watermark. I wasn't having any luck cleaning up the other images of her, so I guess this is the best option for now. Take care. — WiseKwai 04:44, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK edit

No problem I'll do it within two/three days. Tell me please, are controversy sections definitely not permitted? Cause Aaron Sorkin (FA) has a controversy section. Now, Zinta's article contains 4 controversies. I thought, the last one could be integrated into the Media section, cause it deals with some defamation case in a tabloid. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 11:46, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Of course, thanks! Best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 11:58, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
BTW, I say that because of the tag I see on Tom Cruise's controversy section. But as I see, the tag is there because there are too much controversies, which depict him in a negative light. --ShahidTalk2me 12:00, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeh I see very well done! Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 12:10, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, I have a little request, could you please go through this section. is there something here you find as not so neutral or unnecessary? Your opinion is very important. --ShahidTalk2me 12:18, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOL yeh.. There is some resemblance. Hey your edits on Zinta's page arer brilliant. Thanks for helping out! As for the Bharat Shah case - That's why she received the Bravery award, because she was the only one out of 13 witnesses who had the courage and stuck by her earliest statement. Brave woman! --ShahidTalk2me 12:45, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
You're right, the sentence is somehow repetitious in the section. --ShahidTalk2me 13:11, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I did that because I really think it's the right thing to do. It shouldn't be removed. For example, actors like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Lee and my favorite Jean-Claude Van Damme are definitely action heroes, and that's how they should be categorized. BTW, I've seen a lot of films of them. Best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 13:41, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

BTW, here you can see Zinta speaking on her controversies and the Bharat Shah cast, where she said she had received threatining calls. I'll later write a little intro to the whole controversy section, something like "She is frequently involved in controversies..." --ShahidTalk2me 13:57, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeh she is!
Your phrase is good, but I don't think that her outspoken views caused to controversies, like Alleged affair and Ness Wadia case are definitely not because of this. But I wrote that in In the media section:
She is known for her straightforwardness and honesty expressing her opinions in public, which were widely noticed in her controversies, especially in the Bharat Shah Case, when she testified against the underworld. After this incident, she was described by journalists as "The only man in Bollywood".
Yes she is very often cited as "The only Man in Bollywood". What do you say? LOL.
Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 14:26, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
LOL ha ha ha... You're right in a way! Dana took the Eurovision.. She/He from Israel... I was born there!! But we moved back after three years in 1991. I'm now thinking off a good intro for the controversy section. Zinta is really known for being involved in controversies. She even calls herself "controversy's favorite child" --ShahidTalk2me 14:41, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
[5][6] There are two images of her with Ness Wadia but I don't know which is better for us right now. I've lived Kolkata and Mumbai. I've been living in Melbourne for 1.5 years now, but I'm leaving. --ShahidTalk2me 15:08, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

My father is a businessman. I like Melbourne a lot. A wonderful place, nice people, great views and landscapes, weather. There are so many Indians there!!! WOW I was really surprised when came here. I feel much better here and in the beginning I thought I would never leave this wonderful place, but I don't know how much time it will take. I miss my home, I miss the people, relatives. Best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 15:54, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey I moved the image to the Media section cause the image comes from the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. I guess the career section should contain an image which is a screenshot. I'll later add one of these: [7][8]. What do you say? The images come from the film KANK. A wonderful film BTW. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 16:15, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've reduced the images. Thanks for uploading and helping. The page really looks better. I'll later expand her personal life section, and I believe then we could take it to a peer review. I think defamation case could be integrated into the In the media section, but I'm not sure. Thanks and best regards, --ShahidTalk2me 16:37, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
No it's not good - IT'S EXELLENT!!! Thank you so much! Who knows, maybe we could gradually with time reach to a FA status which is my biggest wish!! WOW great work. You're an editor with substance. That's really great. Keep it up! Way to go! --ShahidTalk2me 15:10, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tell me please, what do you think about my new rephrase on Zinta's page?

"She is known for her straightforwardness and honesty expressing her outspoken views and forthright opinions in public, be it about her on-screen or off-screen life or raising a voice against any social injustice. These features were widely noticed in her controversies..."

--ShahidTalk2me 16:02, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wow you're right man. It is somehow repetitious, we are not here to glorify her. Thanks, --ShahidTalk2me 16:20, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I afaraid that this statement, "Balancing commercial successes with critically acclaimed performances, she has established herself as one of the most prominent leading actresses of modern Hindi cinema." cannot appear at the very beginning of the intro because we firstly have to summariza her career and then conclude. --ShahidTalk2me 16:41, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Of course I really like the idea of including her controversy in the lead cause the lead is here to summarize the article, and half of it is the controversy section. I just think that it appears in In The Media section so we can't write it word for word we have to shorten a bit. We can't also ignore the fact that she is listed on the top of the list of most successful actresses of this generation. What do you say now? --ShahidTalk2me 17:03, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wow you're really right, what do you think about removing Balancing commercial successes with critically acclaimed performances? --ShahidTalk2me 17:07, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Filmfare is considered to be the most prominent award ceremony (parallel to the american oscar), she won the IIFA and Sansui and Stardust and MTV and so on and it will be difficult to decide what is more popular. --ShahidTalk2me 17:23, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Are you offended or angry with me? --ShahidTalk2me 18:02, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

SIGH - Oh I was so concerned about this. Thank you, and sorry if I did something wrong. You're one of the nicest guys I have ever met here on the Wikipedia. Zinta is not the center of the world, I think it's time for your requests now. Isn't it? I'll start off now! Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 18:15, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tell me frankly, what do you think about the intro now? --ShahidTalk2me 18:56, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think you got it wrong. There is no film named Ek Badi Si Love Story. There is Ek Chotisi Love Story. Both the films are the same that's only because of the film controversy in Manisha Koirala's page (I've added it two three months ago) it had a double release. --ShahidTalk2me 19:12, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes we forgot to remove that. As you see she is "The woman" in both of the film. It was a double release film because of the contro... You know what? Nevertheless, I'll create the article and at the most we will merge it if problems pop up. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 19:24, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is a problem. There is nothing to add except for Manisha's name and some co-stars and the director. There is no information on the net. Only indiaFM made the mistake of putting it twice because the name of the film was changed after the court decided to cut some scenes. See [9] There is no review, no stills no music no BO. It was their error. They have forgotten... If you have other popular films please contact me. Thanks, --ShahidTalk2me 19:30, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Done! Later I'll add the plot. --ShahidTalk2me 21:46, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hey thanks for dedicating your time to Zinta, but I must have disagreed with your last edit. As per WP:LEAD, the intro is here to summarize the whole article and introduce important milestones in the actor's career. As I see from FA class articles like Jolie and Diane Keaton, only milestones and progressions are mentioned in the lead. I understand your motives. You're hungry for neutrality, to make the article as much encyclopedic as possible, however your additions are too long, and almost copied word for word from the career section, but that's why we have the career section actually, and I was always fair regarding that. I didn't try to glorify her. Apart from that, 2007 has not yet been closed, and as it's said, failures do not deserve a full fledged mention in the intro, it looks now like a full block of content. Moreover, she hadn't experienced a continous flop path career, that's only one film out of many. Again, I hope we are doing that in a professional way, cause I really appreciate you, I don't want you to get angry with me. Let's think of a better idea to make it more neutral. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 22:17, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

What do you think about adding that:

"During her career years, she has been part of over 30 films, majority of which were successful/did well, and thus she has established herself as one of the most prominent leading actresses..." --ShahidTalk2me 22:35, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tibetan sub-stubs edit

Are you actively working on those hundreds of (very detail-free) Tibetan place articles you've created? If you could at least add prefecture information, especially in either infobox or category form, it would firstly, make the articles themselves slightly more informative, and also help deal with the stub-sorting issue that now arises ({{Tibet-geo-stub}} now populates an oversized category). Alai 19:19, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please don't be so hostile; I don't think asking the above is "going on at you". No, those articles aren't "detail-free": it's the other several hundred I'm concerned about. Only a very small number have prefectural categories, and a tiny number have the prefecture field set in their infoboxes (if they have one). I'm not even suggesting you do the stub-sorting, just add the context that would even make stub sorting possible. (As it most certainly is not for "X is a village in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It lies at an altitude of n metres (n*f feet."). The village has a population of about m people.) The "many fields" is exactly what I'm worried about: if you decide you have other priorities, we could easily be stuck with yet-another-intractably-oversized-stub-category for months. (Which might be the least of your concerns, but it's assuredly a significant one for me.) Alai 20:00, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I didn't mean to sound as if I was rushing you; it's obviously entirely up to you what (and whether) you work on, and to be honest even if it's only being done very slowly, it's probably better off than certain other eternally-languishing stub types. And you're clearly right that there's a large dose of systematic bias at work here: all of the PRC is under-represented in geo-stubs, and doubtless much else, for obvious reasons. I'm just looking for an indication of what sort of position you're in to add the prefectures, on (very roughly) what sort of timescale, if you're able to indicate that. If it's going to be a long process, I'll see if I can find a convenient source for same, for doing so more quickly. Alai 20:31, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

To keep this in perspective, it's one of 50-odd "officially oversized" categories on WPSS's "to do" list: so it's not a major problem by any means, just one outstanding re-sorting issue among many. If the double-handling would end up being more work for you, I suggest not doing it that way. What might help is if you have a way to do the full expansion one prefecture at a time (or more or less): then we could split out that prefecture once it's over 60, thereby decreasing the size of the remaining "rump". So far I can't find a ready source for that information (villages by prefecture, or in indeed villages by county) on a web search, but if you come across one... Alai 21:25, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Strict good form would indicate creating them 'upmerged' in the first instance, and the categories later on, but close enough; that's essentially what I had in mind. I can get the ball rolling by bot-populating on the basis of what categorisation there already is. Alai 21:47, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, wait, except I can't at the moment, since the machine with my db mirror on it isn't accessible at the moment. Oh well. BTW, wouldn't the prefectural maps make better stub template images? Alai 21:52, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Can't complain about those examples at all (though hopefully I wasn't quite complaining as such about any of them). Obviously de-stubbing them is the ideal thing, but please don't feel under time pressure to do that. Turning them into stubs-with-context (or at least re-sorting 'em) seems like progress too, though. Anyhoo, the 'oversized' issue is technically-dealt-with, in terms of the (not-very) magic threshold of 800. Hopefully the prefecture types will prove to be of some use. Alai 00:21, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

On September 19th I've cautioned you that you made some mistakes copying names from the encarta maps (“Demqog” for Dêmqog བདེ་མཆོག, “Kuba, Tibet” for Küba ཁུལ་པ, etc.), in some cases you've created stubs about places that have articles already (Bangong Co vs Pangong Tso, “Medog” vs Mêdog, Samyai vs Samye, “Lhunze” vs Lhünzê, Samyai vs Samye etc.), and in some cases you've created two stubs for the same place (“Yiong” and “Yiong Nongchang”; there’s only one place, which should be spelled Yi’ong ཡིད་འོང, nongchang just means “farm” in Chinese, and there's also a river called Yi’ong Zangbo ཡིད་འོང་གཙང་པོ), and of you’ve created many articles with fallingrain.com as the only source, where many of the names are wrong (Xiayanjingxiang for Xia Yanjing / Calhomai ཚྭ་ལྷོ་སྨད, and Wenquan is probably just the Chinese word for “hot spring”, etc.) ...

I keep finding more and more of your faulty stubs, e.g. “Rongpu Si” for Rongbuk Monastery, “Medogdeng”, which is probably just Mêdog, “Ali, Tibet” for Ngari (and the main town of Ngari is actually Gar), “Sengge, Tibet” (which is probably identical with your Shiquanhe and/or your “Ali, Tibet”), etc.

Those maps (Encarta and fallingrain.com) are not proper sources for articles. Many of the stubs you've created can't be verified at all. —Babelfisch 08:10, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Communes of France edit

Hi,

My idea was to find a formula based on coordinates. I've proceeded by trials but a formula based on the extreme points of France was not good in the middle of the country. So I've calculate one for Seine-et-Marne and Morbihan based on 4 corners; an Excel sheet does the calculation. — M-le-mot-dit (T) 11:06, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi again
This empiric formula seems to work for locations in Nord-Pas de Calais:
x= round( 17.97 * <longitude> + 97)
y= round(-30 * <latitude> + 1539.5)
I've applied it to Berck, Calais, Hénin-Beaumont, Basseux, Bapaume.

Tibet and other subjects edit

Dear Ernst: Sorry I have been so long in replying to your welcome notes. I have been making many edits (mostly just adding notes, WikiProject Tibetan Buddhism boxes, making corrections, adding references, etc., etc.). I also got a new scanner which can copy my old slides and negatives and, with the excellent software that comes with it, I can enhance a lot of the faded and scratched ones - but, it does take a lot of time and patience. I also have reposted a fabulous photo of the Dalai Lama and Bishop Desmond Tutu having a great laugh together taken by an old friend of mine in Vancouver in 2004. It was removed from everywhere I had uploaded it because, in his original letter to me, he only gave permission for it to be used in the Wikipedia. Now he has given permission for it to be released into the public domain - so, hopefully, it will stay in place. I have inserted it into the articles on the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama, Tibet, Nobel Peace Prize and, of course, Desmond Tutu.

I have also been adding quite a bit of text and more photos - if you do have the time, check out Music of Tibet, Dhingri, Potala Palace, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Bhrikuti, Van cat (image showing the different coloured eyes of Van cats - I have a better photo but I have to fix it up before I upload it), Ink, Lhasa (for the image of woman and her son busking) - and that's just for starters. I have many more photos from Tibet - but it may take some time to scan them all in and retouch them. Also, some may not be appropriate for the Wikipedia (eg. photos of the wrecks of the old cars which H.H. loved when he was young and talks about in his autobiography which I managed to discover).

Well, I expect you have been just as busy as me. Keep up the good work.

Cheers, John Hill 06:44, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi again! Ernst, I don't have photos of many towns other than Lhasa, Shigatse, Gyantse and Tingri. I do, however, have quite a large private library of books and articles on Tibet (especially on the early history of Tibet). I have no idea how much information I have on the many towns and villages. Perhaps the best thing to do would be to send me a list of the names of the towns you would like to get info on (or, even better, a list of towns you have created stubs for) and I will see what I can find. Will be glad to help all I can. Best wishes, John Hill 23:57, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wow! I can't keep up with you, Ernst! But thanks for your message on the Muru Ningba Monastery which came in the middle of my editing and was very timely. As you must have noticed - I have been adding some more photos and bits of info and references to Dhingri, the Barkhor, Tibetan Muslims, the Jokhang, Ralung Monastery and so on. I will take a peek at the list of Tibetan towns tomorrow (am almost afraid to look - as there will be so much to be done there - and I have so many other things I am working on - but will see what I can do to help). Cheers, John Hill 11:02, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

How about these: [10] or [11]? The horizontal portrait is nice and big, with a great smile. It could be cropped without losing too much of her neck. The vertical pose with the two dudes also looks good, and could be cropped fairly attractively, but it would be pretty small. — WiseKwai 17:50, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Okay. That's done, I think. I'm having some serious Internet connectivity issues, so it looks like my activities will be limited for the time being. Take care. — WiseKwai 18:37, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fab you, us! edit

Fabulous quick work Ernst! The box is a real plus - must take a bit of work!

Yes, I think Dhingri is really shaping up (though much more could be written about it - maybe I will find time). I look forward to cooperating with you on more Tibetan towns. This afternoon I have been uploading some wonderful woodblocks from a book by Sarat Chandra Das illustrating the very brief stubs on the various Panchen Lamas and a few Indian teachers as well. Will keep pottering as time permits - have an endless supply of information here to play with plus more photos of Tibet (and many other places) - one could go on for ever!

Enjoy your break - have fun and a good relax. Let me know when you are back on board. Best, John Hill 07:23, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bookshelves edit

I'm glad you found my bookshelf thingy useful :-) The full details of the assumptions I made and the calculationsmade are at User:Tompw/bookshelf. The main assumption/inaccuracy is that the latest figure for the database size (and hence average article size) is a year old... and given that average article size has steadily increased, the diagram is probably an underestimate. Hello! edit

Listen I was sure you're angry with me because of my reversion. I thought to expand the PL, I was just delaying that more and more, but I think after the expansion we can turn to a peer review, and then who knows, as the user said we will be sure of its standart. What do you say? --ShahidTalk2me 14:44, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

What do you say about that? --ShahidTalk2me 15:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Wow she is really beautiful!!!!!! WOW! This video reminds me of this one od Zinta. Watch it, she is so beautiful here. Especially the last ones! She is so charming here! --ShahidTalk2me 16:02, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Exactly! --ShahidTalk2me 16:08, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh that's nice watching actresses in such roles. I'm now trying to expand the Preity family section as per that and that. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 16:40, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOL wow it is really laughable!!! If it is listed, so our article is undoubtedly a FA article. But I think that after completing the personal life bit, which is unorganized now, we can list it nominate it for GA even without a peer review and then ask for some feedbacks to make it as better as possible. --ShahidTalk2me 19:27, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Really? Do you think it's too much? --ShahidTalk2me 19:38, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Mmm yeh you're right in a way... I just followed the Angelina Jolie article, which is fulll of quotes!!! But anyway, I've removed one now, and I think I'll later reduce some more. On the other hand, I think quotes are good items to keep neutrality. Cause we don't provise our own opinions, but adding quotes of critics and reputed sources to avoid POV. --ShahidTalk2me 19:57, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think this section is the most problematic here. What do you think? --ShahidTalk2me 20:08, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are film reviews included when you say "too much quotes"? I need a precise example. --ShahidTalk2me 20:17, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK Wow I'd like to see the link, can you give me the link? --ShahidTalk2me 20:34, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh I'm happy we have the same thought regarding this... Do you have any suggestions? Reported speech? Whatever? I've lost my mood... Thanks for telling me what the problems are. --ShahidTalk2me 20:38, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just to note! The external edit counter cannot count more than 45,000 contributions. When it comes to 45,000, it just stops its general number increase. Every new edit of yours is added to the last month (September) count para, whilst it subtracts the number of edits from the first mentioned para. So, the numbers from the first line go automatically to the current one, and the total count stands on 45,000 always. Check it out. See User:Yamla's edit count - it's the same case as yours. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 22:57, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey no problem. I's a good film with one of my favorite actresses Urmila Matondkar. I'm yet to complete your previous request and make a silver treatment for Rishi Kapoor. I'm so happy that you have nominated Zinta for GA. You know why I didn't want to do that? Cause I thought it will be impossible sending it to a peer review after that. LOL. What's going BTW? I see nobody takes care of that! Who does make reviews there? --ShahidTalk2me 16:33, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
See Austin Nichols, which is a FA, and compare this page with Preity's one. It is a short article. If this one is a FA, I don't see why Zinta's article can't be. --ShahidTalk2me 00:39, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Edit counter edit

Hmm, when I access User:Interiot's edit counter, it shows you only have exactly 45,000,[12] which is somewhat lower from what I thought you had. So I placed you at the current highest category at 40,000+. But if you have considerably more, then just create the section that corresponds to your edit count amount.

BTW, you have the coolest username I've seen. :) - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 15:48, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

There has to be something wrong with one of the counters. I know there are currently inconsistency issues between most of them, but not by that much. Not by 20 to 40 thousand edits. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 15:51, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, it considers all namespaces, since many users are more active in images, templates, userspace or wiki-space. Therefore, at least Interiot's, considers all edits made to Wikipedia. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 16:02, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I really like the image banner. It striking and inviting at the same time. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 17:42, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

External counters (all those that are not the one in your preferences) do not count deleted edits. This is probably the main reason for the difference in number of edits. Please note that edit counting is bad; it shouldn't be used to evaluate a user's value to this project. Regards, Agüeybaná 21:00, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I really like your humbleness </sarcasm>. Seriously, edit deletion is a factor in this mystery, as are server lags. Sorry if I was not of any help. Regards, Agüeybaná 21:19, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it is. That's what happens when so many people use Wikipedia at the same time :-) --Agüeybaná 21:38, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

GAC edit

Thanks for the support, I appreciate it. I probably won't be able to review the article for several reasons. I don't review film or actor-related articles, because I think I'm somewhat biased towards them as members of the projects. Also, I'm focusing on the current sweeps right now and that is going to take a while before I return to GAC. Also, I'm starting to learn all of the new admin stuff right now, so that's my focus right now. Your best bet would be to help assist in reviewing articles according to the GA criteria and look over the articles in front of yours and determine if they should be passed or failed. That way your article would be next in line to be reviewed in that section. Let me know if you need anything else. --Nehrams2020 19:48, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Infobox Settlement and coord edit

Hi Blofeld,

I am not sure why you reverted my change to the Infobox Settlement coordinates section in this edit. As you can see in Goicang (you may have to hit "edit" to see the change), switching the templates fixes the double prime (") showing up next to the minutes in the coordinates line when lats is not filled in. —MJCdetroit 20:33, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

(Moved here from MJCdetroit's talk page per MJCdetroit's talk page policy)

There was a problem with something earlier with vandalism and I did double check to see it wasn't the infobox settlement but it wasn't it was the image. -It affected several hundrd articles for a few minutes. Could you tell me why many of the settlements which have the coordinates aren't showing on the Wiki map? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:37, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
For instance see Alamdo . Now why isn't it labelled on the map with all the others? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:38, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand what you mean by not showing "with all the others"...on the "wikimap". Alamdo looks fine to me when viewed on FireFox 2.0 and Safari 2.0.4 for Macintosh. Could you provide more examples or better detail? —MJCdetroit 23:52, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
(Again, response moved back here per my talk page policy that is at the top of my talk page. In other words, if I post something here first on your talk page then respond here on your talk page and if you were the first to post something on my talk page, then I will reply to it over there. It keeps the conversation complete and unbroken.)
On my computer the titles of the new villages I have been adding aren't showing on the wiki mini atlas. If you look at Tibet on the map only the larger places like Lhasa, Dhingri, Shigatse, Golmud etc are showing when it ought to show the titles of places like Alamdo, Azog, Baicang etc and tens of others when you zoom in. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 09:38, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
It took me a while to figure out what you were talking about with "mini Atlas"—the thing that pops up when you click the globe next to the coordinates. Whether or not the point is labeled on that map is a function of {{coord}} and not Infobox Settlement. Infobox Settlement does use {{coord}} but in a redirected way through {{geobox coor}}. The geobox coor template is simply a template that redirects where to place the coordinate inputs from an infobox into the template coord. For example in coord template {{Coord|43|29||N|79|23||W}}43°29′N 79°23′W / 43.483°N 79.383°W / 43.483; -79.383 when the seconds are left "blank" template coord doesn't know what to do so it still adds the double primes (") next to the minutes. Geobox coord is a way to tell template coord how to handle such situations. {{geobox coor|43|29||N|79|23||W}}43°29′N 79°23′W / 43.483°N 79.383°W / 43.483; -79.383. As far as unlabeled points in the mini atlas, you'll have to ask why over at {{coord}}. Regards, —MJCdetroit 13:16, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Coordinate template help edit

Hello. I'm a template guru, however, unfortunately, I don't know much about the coord templates. I know that they are controlled in MediaWiki:Common.js and that the software when you click the globe is located on the toolserver. As for the how to get labels to work on the map, my guess is that Wikipedia is synchronized with the labels database every once in a while. I'm not really sure. One of the links in this post should be able to help you. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Cheers. --MZMcBride 23:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Hi there, how you been? I was having a quick look at the Preity Zinta page and this part concerned me:

In 2007, there was an alleged crisis in Preity's relationship with Wadia, due to Krishnamuthy's controversy (see controversies),[46] and the rumours that Ness' mother Maureen Wadia was not pleased with Zinta and Ness dating. Maureen Wadia reacted to the rumours in an interview saying: "I'm delighted at my son's choice".[47] As of September 2007, the couple are still together.

Is it neccessary to give details on Maureen Wadia's thoughts, I mean can we not say their dating and that's it. It was a rumour created by the media and then clarified, but I think it's quite non-notable. Were not a journo magazine, so should we include this? -- Pa7 18:35, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was a kind of a scandal, and it took some good publicity. Just like the fact on Jolie's page having an affair with Pitt when he still was a married guy. It was a rumour created by the media and then clarified, just like this one, but it is there though. I will add later Marc Robinson to Zinta's page, who was having a relationship with Preity (it is not a gossip) and I have reliable sources. The Maureen case, I think it's worthy of discussion with some users, and I'd like to present this one to the Peer Reviewers (when the time comes). What do you think guys? Our page will raise to a featured status, if we only try. --ShahidTalk2me 18:08, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MarioGallo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:MarioGallo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:27, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello! edit

Oh OK, no problem. I wish you all the best. --ShahidTalk2me 15:37, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No I have no idea. I'm not a big expert in Internet issues. In India, I was using the computer for school matters only. --ShahidTalk2me 16:19, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes he is a businessman, LOL dunno if RICH but I have nothing to complain about, money has never been a trouble for me. These four months I was enjoying my vacations here. But in January I'm going to attend university. I think I'll have no time for WP then. And you, I see your not here. Yesterday I waited for a message and was really surprised to see your history without September 27... --ShahidTalk2me 16:35, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

BTW, next month I'm visiting Israel!! I'm so excited! I've visited Israel many times but it still hair-raising to see the holy land. --ShahidTalk2me 16:40, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

WOW such long names OMG!!! Listen why does nonbody come to review Preity Zinta's page? --ShahidTalk2me 20:10, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Wow, that's just amazing, just amazing to see how brilliant your work is. Within 33 munutes you've written such a brilliant article, with images, well-written info!!! When I saw the history, I thought "He may have worked on it for quite a week or two"... You're such a great editor, you can't leave WP, I won't forgive you that. --ShahidTalk2me 20:31, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
WOW, you've created a Hindi film page Aashiq Hoon Baharon Ka. Why don't make a list of articles you have created? --ShahidTalk2me 20:40, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mmm yeh and that uspsets me. I think Zinta's article is better, but it's still nominated only for a GA only. Apart from that, I'm actually working on this article alone (with great help of yours of course) but still I can't handle everything alone. The personal life bit is so brief. The refs we have in the early life section ([13][14]) contain more information which I want to add, like what she likes, what she used to do as a child, like in Jolie's page. But I'm actually not sure if I can add it or no. Everything is so deeply written. One of her columns for the BBC Facing death in Thiland and Sri Lanka [15] is a good source to help us adding information to the misc section when it says she narrowly escaped death twice. It MUST be expanded in a big way. These incidents were some of the strongest experiences in her life are they not..

What do you think? I need an advice cause I don't know! --ShahidTalk2me 21:04, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Really great articles. The fact is that you know and I know that if we nominated Zinta now for FA, it wouldn't pass. So there is actually a problem. The lead is brilliant, the career section is brilliant and then there is some drop. Don't you agree with me? I think the alleged affair and The Bharat Shah case are so so so brief. The alleged affair was such a big issue in India, with every newspaper dealing with it and we have only four short paragraphs. The Bharat Shah case was one of the most notable cases in India in 2003, way more than Shilpa Shetty's Mafia Links. However see the differences. Like you said, the Ness Wadia case quote has a problematic quote and I don't know what to do with it... Well I afraid my dream won't come true... --ShahidTalk2me 21:26, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I need an advice. I've added a new sentence to Zinta's media section:
"Zinta's trademark has been her dimple and she is often cited by popular media by this characteristic. She is famous for her vivacious personality, and is described by many as "bubbly", which according to her, she dislikes. Above all, she is particularly known in the Indian media for her straightforwardness and honesty... (and so on...)
How does it sound? Is it inregrated properly? She is WIDELY known for her vivacious personality and she's described MANY times as bubbly (and hates being described like that) I forgot to add that previously. But does it sound good? (I'm just fascinated with your writing so your opinion is VERY important to me). Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 16:49, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Oh really? Do you like the winter? I do! Hey I saw today What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?... Have you seen it? A brilliant film! Wow! --ShahidTalk2me 17:02, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're back and I'm too!!! So have seen this film? ShahidTalk2me 18:09, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh me too!!!! As I said earlier I'm a big fan of the golden era. I've seen many many films of the great Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Oh they were really GREAT rivals in their times weren't they.. I don't really know why. It is said that they hated each other. Oh I'll look for some stuff, maybe there are some nice controversies LOL... Do you know something about that? --ShahidTalk2me 18:23, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeh you're right. Every moment a new page is created, a new user is registered. That's the case. Oh I want to help WP b4 leaving. I', pretty busy with the Preity page. When I get finished, I'll turn to create more and more films, bios. There is a need in that. I'm so happy that in quantity terms, after Hollywood cinema, our Indian is the next in quantity, with many articles on films and bios. And now I intend to make a similar quality (GA, FA). I believe with all my might that my dream of making the Zinta article FA is upcoming to come true soon:):):) --ShahidTalk2me 18:39, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Mmm not actually. I think once in a week yes. In weekends, free days or short days of course I will, but it's still not so comparable to what I'm doing now and the time I have now. Hey have you heard of Israeli singer Ofra Haza? I have some old audio cassetes of her. I just read that she was popular in Europe. --ShahidTalk2me 18:48, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOL Yeh (Ufree... LOL). Yeh that's Wikipedia. In parts it's very developed, in parts absolutely NO!

For example, I've sent the Asha Bhosle article (an Indian singer and one of the greatest in the world with her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar) to WP:PR, but nobody shows interest and bothers to send some advices. The article is a sure FA. Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle are the greatest singers in the world and both have recorded the most recordings in the world. Mangeshkar was even featured at the Guiness book for having sung over 30,000 songs!!! These ladies are almost 80 years old each and if you heard them singing or heard their voice, you would never believe that they are actually over 30 years old!!! Their voices are like voices of teenagers!!!. That's AMAZING!!! Mangeshkar has even sung for Preity Zinta in the film Veer-Zaara. That's called pictuarization. Interesting no? --ShahidTalk2me 19:37, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you Serious?????!!!! WOWOWOWOW I'm shocked I'm so happy OH it's just so exciting!!!! Of course I've heard Brimful of Asha. Quite a silly song but I'm happy that a song is being dedicated to this living legend. Mangeshkar is a great singer. She is now credited in films as Living legend Lata Mangeshkar She is considered to be the Number 1 singer in India ever been. In the beginning of their career Mangeshkar was always on the top singing for the leading actresses, while Bhosle was singing for the supporting actresses the bad girls, though in the 50s-60s they became equal. In the 80s 90s Bhosle was especially known for singing indipop, Disco (even though she achieved national success for her Ghazals when she sang two tones over and won the prestigious National Film Award) and Mangeshkar was singing more classical and still typical songs.
BTW, different sources say that Mangeshkar hasn't yet sung 30,000 songs and Bhosle is the one who's sung the most songs - 12,000. (See her intro there you can see a very very deeply written ref). I want these articles to be FA FA FA!!! They deserve that. An administrator named User:Utcursch has been working very hard on these pages. --ShahidTalk2me 20:05, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeh the great RDB was Bhosle's second husband. --ShahidTalk2me 20:07, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ohhh you're really artistic!!! LOLOL Ha Ha Ha!!! See Preity Zinta through Lata Mangeshkar's voice HERE!! You must see it! Zinta looks so beautiful in traditional looks!!! And remember it's a voice of a 75 year-old woman! --ShahidTalk2me 20:20, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOL you're the funniest editor I have ever talked to on the Wikipedia. Toilet of Japan! Instant identification of resemblance between two completely strangers that have never seen each other! That's so funny! LOL. I think that's great you are a brilliant editor as well as a funny one. !!! --ShahidTalk2me 21:13, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm now intending to develop both Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle to a featured status. They're really well-written. I've asked for a peer review for Ashaji but NOBODY sends any comments - I'm shocked. --ShahidTalk2me 12:00, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeh I've seen the show so many times. Zinta is so intelligent. She answered almost all the questions. Well, you know she is an educated girl LOL. BTW, I'm shocked even more. I've asked some user to review Zinta's article and he IGNORED me. Not nice. --ShahidTalk2me 12:13, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tibetan towns and villages edit

Hi Ernst! Yes, it sure is a lot of work! I did some bits and pieces on them and even that took me all day. However, it does not have to be done all at once - or all by you and me. It won't hurt for lots of them to remain as stubs for quite a while - at least something is there if someone looks - even if it is only the information that it is a small town and gives the coordinates. Hopefully, others will add to them from time to time. You've done a great job getting them this far - and I think it is worthwhile. I will keep going back to them and adding to them as I come across accounts of some community or the other in books I am reading - hopefully other will do the same. Now, I must get back to finishing the articles on the previous reincarnations of the Panchen Lamas which I have been working on lately. Buena suete! Hasta luego! State geology articles edit

I am of two minds about state geology articles. On the one hand, I understand that people think in terms of states, on the other, I prefer to have articles by geologic feature, so that their would be one article on the Rocky Mountains, and not seven, e.g. Rocky Mts in Wyoming etc, one article on Basin and Range Province and not four or five. This is also true in the eastern U.S. where state boundaries are often slightly more related to topography, but still usually unrelated to the geology. I would expect a state geographical section, or article, to refer to the appropriate geological features which would then have there own articles. --Bejnar 15:45, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why is the main Geology of the United States of America article quite basic? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:49, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Because it should be primarily directory, serving to direct to geological articles, and probably because there are not enough of us, there is a paucity of time to devote to Wikipedia, and the less interesting articles are more likely to get short-shrift. --Bejnar 16:21, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

Hiya! Could you help me out, I've raised some issues about the Preity Zinta article on the discussion page, which User talk:Shshshsh does not agree with (That's become a common factor between us!) If you can, can you present your opinion on the issue. Its just a minor concern and your opinion would be helpful. Kind regards. -- Pa7 14:15, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

When we say "The film tells the story of... co-starring..." in every single film introduction, it sounds quite superficial. We need the text to be interesting with good points to give.
Jaanemann tells the story of two friends loving the same girl. Raj Kapoor, Yash Chopra have been doing films with a similar topic. Stories like this one have always been part of the typical Indian cinema, such as two brothers/friends/sisters loving the same girl/guy, families in feud and their children fall in love. That was always a typical aspect in Indian story-lines. We say Zinta came with a new style, with controversial roles, with social taboos, but we can't glorify her by saying she always does that, and neglecting the fact that like many other actors she has the little corner of making typical cinema films, when the heroine has not so much scope to her credit. That's why I've added the fact that she has a little, underdeveloped role (yet well received). That's important.
The above user who wrote you this message doesn't want this word (typical) there. I don't see a good reason to write tones of KB on this. But please tell what you think. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 13:30, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

WOW thanks edit

Thanks my dear friend for the barnstar! --ShahidTalk2me 15:59, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blofeld I turn to you for help. You may have not read my message, so I will repeat.
When we say "The film tells the story of... co-starring..." in every single film introduction and paragraph, it sounds quite superficial. We need the text to be interesting with good points to give. So the word TYPICAL is needed (not considering the fact that it is typical actually)
Jaanemann tells the story of two friends loving the same girl, and that's why it's typical. We say Zinta came with a new style, with controversial roles, with social taboos, but we can't glorify her by saying that she always does that, and neglecting the fact that like many other actors she has the little corner of making typical cinema films, when the heroine has not so much scope to her credit. That's why I've added the fact that she has a little, underdeveloped role (yet well received). That's important.
The other user who started all this mess doesn't want this word (typical) there. I don't see a good reason to write tones of KB on this. But please don't support the removal of this word. It is important, I don't know what's the big deal. Regards, --ShahidTalk2me 19:24, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Owner of Mr Bigglesworth (LOL!), I know your neutral on this matter, in which case I know you'll make a sound judgement on the issue, oops sorry the "mess" that I've created. I've left my recent message on the the discussion page, and will edit anything on that page that I feel needs improving. After all this is free encyclopedia where everyone and anyone can edit. If that user can declare what he edits is correct then I'll edit whenever I need to, even if it means changing or removing the stuff he's put in. Im going to ask User:Yamla just to make sure that nothing out of the sorts is said between the two of us because he's pushed to breaking point. So, I ask if you can please give a decision or opinion on the sentence and if you feel that the word "typical" should be there then I'll agree with it. That user did not agree to the sentence you proposed, so could you provide an input. Kind regards. -- Pa7 21:31, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh that's a pitty:( Oh that's life. Sorry I see it was a kind of insolence to ask you for support... Sorry. It's just so important for me. --ShahidTalk2me 22:01, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you edit

Hey, I was just about to archive my page (although I think it makes sense to do it tomorrow) and I got your message! Thank you so much for the barnstar, that's really nice of you. That's my second Bollywood barnstar! BTW is their a nickname or shorter name I could address you as. Your user name is quite long and I've noticed that I have not really been addressing you as anything other then amigo! Thanks again, your award really means a lot to me. Gracias mi amigo! -- Pa7 17:04, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have no idea what Soy muy calvo y tengo un animal blanco means but your Spanish is brilliant! I like owner of Mr Bigglesworth and crazy mofo. The former because the cat is cute. Maybe between those two and amigo cause your definently a real good friend. I think your the only user I know that lives in the UK. At least we can talk about EastEnders, Big Brother, Gordon Brown, Girl's Aloud (even though I hate them) etc. I look forward to having some brilliant conversations with you. Kind regards. -- Pa7 17:39, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Right, so your Dr. Evil? Can you do the laugh he does? Hahahaha! Yes it's fine. Just had a look, at least it ain't as cluttered. Good news, I've finished Bollywood films of the 1970s, the first box just has the genres missing, but I can do that later. I'll get started on the other pages soon. Regards. -- Pa7 18:23, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Firstly, Im sorry that we've put you in the middle of this disagreement. The sentence is in the career section, from 2003 onwards, at the bottom of the section. It says She then starred in Shirish Kunder's romantic musical Jaan-E-Mann, a typical Indian story of two guys in the US loving the same girl, co-starring alongside Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Im glad that you at least get my point! Honestly, I think the arguments started after I came back from surgery. We just could not agree on anything! Then the user said something to me which I found offensive so I asked an admin to step in. Ever since then we've been at loggerheads. Its only lately that we've been corresponding again. We've just been unable to agree, I think it's probably the fact that were from two different countries and just cannot work together, but we share the same passion for Bollywood. Anything we say to each other acts as a catalyst.
