Well, (though I don't know if this will pop up with a "New Message" or not), I want to put like all the sidebar stuff that you have, and basically, what kind of stuff I should put. You know me pretty well, so I was hoping for suggestions.JoeZierer 10:56, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Discussion for 1 piece episodes

reading the comment you added when you undid the episode comments, I see it shows that you shouldn't remove other's comments, but you can remove your own... now it doesn't make much sence to leave your replies to somone else's comments that are no longer there... but if you wanted to do that for some reason, i guess that can be done. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.231.130.2 (talk) 21:22, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

I let you "Win" your opinion on episode plots... at least give me the right to remove my own discussion, which accorind to WP:TALK people are allowed to do, just not other's. If you don't, i can alway start editing the episode plots again. I am trying to walk away gracefully, which i though I was doing by saying you "Won" and removed my opinion from the discussion page. Again, its up to you... you can leave me with a little editing dignaty, or you can be a jerk... which i can be too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.231.130.2 (talk) 22:07, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Hey thanks heaps for helping me with the infobox borders. This really has helped me make navboxes that display correct colours of the topics. It's really appreciated.

Hello there. If I may, I'd like to first ask you why Monobook.js is still being used instead of Common.js (I assume the comment has something to do with it, but I can't read Farsi). Beyond that, I'm not entirely sure what could be causing the problem at the moment.
As to anime, I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help there... My best suggestion would be to have a look at some of the other series listed on that page, and in general, just listen closely for any information on other anime similar to Death Note.
Hope this helps you (even if just a little bit)! —Dinoguy1000 19:17, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
so first of all u suggest to change mediawiki to common! what do u think of this problem?--mardetanha(/\/\ ()[-]$[- /\/) (talk) 19:30, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, actually, I was just asking why Monobook.js is still being used on the Farsi Wikipedia, as it has been deprecated on here (see MediaWiki:Monobook.js). Beyond that, now that I look, you have not copied over the hasClass() function. This is necessary as it allows the collapsible tables script to find tables with the collapsible class.
Hopefully, that will help correct your problem. Beyond that, I'd be happy to help lend a hand to clean up the javaScript on the Farsi Wikipedia some (for instance, the tooltips and accesskeys array can be replaced by appropriate MediaWiki messages). —Dinoguy1000 20:07, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Date Formatting

Where was absolutely no reason or need to edit List of Blood+ episodes to reformat the dates. This issue was brought up recently at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Concern: commas and dates and it was agreed that while commas may not be "needed" people don't need to just run around removing them either. Collectonian (talk) 21:05, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Aah, okay. Sorry for the unnecessary edit, but I sort of figured that you or someone else would revert (which leads to the question of why I edited the dates in the first place... I'm afraid I don't have a good reason). As to the policy discussion, thanks for pointing it out, as I don't really watch too many policy pages. I'm definitely going to be more careful about this stuff in the future. —Dinoguy1000 17:59, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
And reading the discussion lead me to realise that I have inadvertently been changing some dates from international to American format. At the time, I thought I was just straightening out redirects (which, come to think of it, also violates policy). It seems I'm a rather sloppier editor than I thought. Oh well, just one more thing to keep an eye out for in the future. —Dinoguy1000 18:09, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
No prob :) And hey, isn't that how most of us end up learning? *grin* Collectonian (talk) 18:33, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Userpage

Hey there and thanks for the inquiry. I don't update my userpage because there really isn't that much to say about me. I feel like I have split personality that shows me one way with one set of friends and another way in other companies. If I collect all that and put it on one page, then it could end up alienating a lot of people. Not to mention I really don't like to show off: I know what I like, I adjust things and that's all. Not much more I think I can say. -StrangerAtaru (talk) 18:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Monobook issue

Per the request here User_talk:TheDJ#Status_switcher I've rolled your monobook back an edit, so you should be able to log in and edit. MBisanz talk 08:34, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

I will try to fix this problem in the future. For the mean while I have created a safety check, that hopefully shouldn't have such destructive effects on IE, but it is not yet tested to work :D --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 08:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
PS, you might have to Clear your browser cache before you might be able to browse again. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 08:38, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Case Closed Question

I was wondering if you could please explain why you removed the Detective Encyclopedia from the List of Case Closed chapters. Thanks Antiyonder (talk) 05:39, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Actually, that wasn't my doing. Collectonian removed it over a couple of edits and then added a note in the lead mentioning it. You can read a discussion about it and other issues on the talk page. —Dinoguy1000 16:46, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

One Piece templates

Since you're good at template clean up, any desire to tackle cleaning up and merging the three for One Piece? {{One Piece Factions}}, {{One Piece characters}}, and {{One Piece}}. (actually I think Factions may already be merged into the One Piece). -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 21:57, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

I'll have a look... I've actually already done some work on the One Piece template, and the other two would have been taken care of by now if I'd known they were there... ;) —Dinoguy1000 15:46, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Done. It's not as neat as it could be, but hopefully it will improve as various articles get merged together. —Dinoguy1000 16:14, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks :) Back to the article clean up and arguing with people who keep saying "OMG, I must have 5000 pages about this series" :P -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 16:45, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Lists template

Please hold off on adding the WikiProject Lists template to every list article on the project. My full concerns are listed on my post one year ago at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Lists#Project banner. -- Ned Scott 06:56, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Aah, sorry about that, Ned. I wasn't aware of any such discussion previously, and the only reason I started adding the banner was because Collectonian tagged List of Blood+ chapters, List of Blood+ light novels, List of Blood+ characters, and List of Blood+ episodes with it when she created/started editing them. Along those lines, would it hurt for me to continue adding the banner to those list articles that I create, or should I hold off on that as well? —Dinoguy1000 18:54, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

On Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle story arcs

Hello there. I noticed that you rv. the story arcs information on the Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle article. So I was wondering, where do you believe an arc story synthesis could be posted safely, without causing disruptions? and in what format? (a table, a small paragraph, etc) because List of Tsubasa Chronicle episodes just summarize mainly the anime, which differs in extent and plot, far away from the manga. And on the other hand, List of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle chapters indeed covers the manga publications to a great extent, but currently just features a chronological listing, with no summarizing at all (all the above led me to include the information where I did it eventually, while thinking it will cause the least disruption possible, in the light of the content and structure of the other two pages) So if you are kind enough, please share a little bit of your insight with me. I will really apreciate the viewpoints of a seasoned editor on the matter.

The best of regards to you, and thank you for your time.

Rastellus (talk) 07:03, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Rastellus, thanks for asking me about this instead of starting an edit war... ^_^;; The reason I removed the story arcs information from the Tsubasa article is because the plot details it discusses should already be covered adequately in the plot section and the chapter and episode lists (although, as you noted, the Tsubasa chapter list currently doesn't have summaries; you're free to add them if you want). Besides that, which episodes and which chapters line up is considered trivial information, and similar info has been removed numerous times from other articles. Hope this helps some! —Dinoguy1000 18:59, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your answer to my queries. I'm glad of having talked with you.
Cheers ^_^.

Macrons

I have no idea about macrons, I found them in Japanese site, though I dont know Japanese and it seems it only has five volumes.--Tintor2 (talk) 19:21, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

All right, I wasn't sure. Based on my own understanding of Japanese and Hepburn romanization (which is admittedly very limited), the macron forms I posted *should* be correct, but it wouldn't hurt to get outside opinion (maybe Collectonian or Doceirias?). —Dinoguy1000 19:34, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

I added more. I will probably continue later, so feel free to correct the titles. Also, do these volumes have titles? The ones from my country have it.--Tintor2 (talk) 18:09, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

All right, will do. As far as volume titles are concerned, I didn't really pay attention, which country is it that you live in? —Dinoguy1000 20:48, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Argentina, but the volumes are from Spain.--Tintor2 (talk) 20:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Aah. I'll have to look when I request some of the other volumes to double-check English chapter titles. Do you know if the original Japanese volumes are named? —Dinoguy1000 21:06, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes and apparently the first volume of Viz Media is called "Monkey king" since the vol title is a chapter title.Tintor2 (talk) 21:12, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, if the Japanese volumes are named, we should list them, and to hell with what Viz did with the translations. ;) However, as far as I know, Viz doesn't usually throw out stuff like volume titles when they translate stuff, so the English volumes are probably named too. —Dinoguy1000 21:15, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Template changes

Thank you SO much for the little fixes you made to Template:Infobox binational animation. I haven't been on WP very long and I was really winging it. Just finished it a few hours ago! If you are "in the know," might I ask for a favor? As I mentioned on the template's page, I adapted this from existing modular infobox templates at WP:ANIME. I got everything done and then some funky formatting thing happened that forced me to remove some parameters that (I think) automatically place any page using the infobox into relevant categories. Could you help me get them back in there? Or, do you think it would be better to leave them out in case someone, some day, decides to use the template for some other cooperative anime/manga-ish project between countries besides Japan and Korea?

Also, er, this isn't actually a television infobox...it's a theatrical-release film (it did come out on dvd, though). Is this something I can change or...? I haven't managed to learn about putting things in categories yet. Obviously. :) Sorry for being so wordy! --hamu♥hamu (talk) 19:01, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Hamuhamu! Personally, I don't see this template being used for very many things (the whole reason there's such a dispute going on with Blade of the Phantom Master in the first case is because it's such a unique case), so it would be better to just manually add categories to the article in question. For that matter, it *may* be a better idea to just hard-code an infobox on the article itself, but I don't have any idea what various policies, guidelines, etc. have to say about something like that. You may be better off asking about that on the Infoboxes project, although I have no idea just how active they are. If you do get a reply, though, they will probably also be able to help you generalize the template and add some other parameters. As for the television infobox... Well, I actually just copied the categories from Template:Infobox animanga without paying much attention to how appropriate they were... <.< >.> You can go ahead and remove that category if you feel it doesn't fit. ;) —Dinoguy1000 19:56, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Ah that's why your name looked familiar! You've been part of the ongoing discussion on the series talk page. I thought about hard-coding the infobox, but that makes it really hard to add or change info, from what I can tell. I'll play around with categories and whatnot and see what happens. I kept looking for a policy that an infobox needs to be used on at least a certain # of pages in order for its template to be safe from deletion, and I thought about inquiring and going through the whole request process but I was like...dude, this needs to happen now, LOL. Good advice, though, and now that things have simmered down, I'll follow through with it! --hamu♥hamu (talk) 20:37, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Yep, at this point, I've got most of the Animanga project and portal-related pages on my watchlist, and I chime in on discussions from time to time. ;) If you format the source properly, it can actually be pretty simple to update information in hardcoded instances like that, and it also helps if you know how to write clean source code. In any case, I'd say wait for a response before ditching the template, it could potentially be pretty useful, in the event there are any manga-ka who regularly publish in the U.S. (or, vice versa, if there're any U.S. authors who regularly publish in Japan), or other similar situations. —Dinoguy1000 20:48, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I've taken your advice and posted a "what should I do now?" inquiry at Wikiproject Infoboxes. Coincidentally, I ran across another article on a comic written by a Japanese and illustrated by a Korean, and the exact same type of bickering is going on in its edit summaries...not a single line of discussion on the talk page though. *shakes head* ..... Anyway, that's not why I'm really here. I wanted to ask you if you'd give me your opinion about something I posted on my user talk page regarding centralization of manhwa work. Would you take a few minutes a weigh in? I'd really appreciate it! --hamu♥hamu (talk) 12:54, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Really? What article is it? As for the discussion, I'll have a look, and I started a similar discussion here about a week ago. —Dinoguy1000 16:34, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Manhwa project is a go!

I've just been informed that manhwa and other Asian comics have a home in the Comics Wikiproject's World Comics working group! Their omission from the scope was an accidental oversight, and will be rectified in the near future. Please head over to the project and add your name to the general participants list as well as the world comics participants list -- or whatever you feel comfortable with! I know you're not prepared to be a full-blown participant, but your help, especially initially, with some of the technical stuff would be really valuable. Even if you don't actually join, please check out the working group's talk page, where I'm about to start a very rough list of possible tasks. I'm really excited and look forward to working with you! --hamu♥hamu (talk) 04:00, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

All right, I'll go have a look! I don't intend to add my name as a participant, but I'll probably make it clear that I intend to continue watching the infobox and can always be contacted for assistance with templates and possibly categories. —Dinoguy1000 17:35, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Template:Sailor Moon

WikiProject Sailor Moon has frowned on this template being overhauled without discussion. Can you please discuss it here before making any changes? Thanks. -- Denelson83 00:05, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

All right, sorry about that... I've done a large amount of work with navboxes in the past, so I know in general what the Animanga project looks for in them, and the SM box is definitely ripe for updating. However, if it goes against the SM project's concensus, I won't fight or change it at this time, but I would be willing to discuss it (though I'm not going to spend a great deal of time on it, there's other work to be done ;) ). In this case, it would probably be better to discuss it on the SM project page rather than the template talk page, since templates tend to be even more out-of-the-way for casual users than project pages. —Dinoguy1000 16:28, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Erasure of Koenma

Can I add the deleted info (some of the pertinent ones) of Koenma in his details at the Yuyu Hakusho Characters? Koenma has been deleted at the main page in Yuyu Hakusho and I am one of those who reverted it as I believed it should be retained. I later realized that Koenma just makes the article long and seems not so helpful, but i think we should at least have to put the erased details of Koenma and add them in his details (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koenma#Koenma). Idk, in behalf of encyclopedic passion bestowed. Well, it's just my opinion. I am seeking for your help as I believe you are more knowledgeable and experienced than I am. I do not know if the information I will be adding is of relevance to the page cause I am not particulary good at this. I have also asked User:Tintor2 about this and awaiting his reply. :) Thank you and your prompt attention to this matter is highly appreciated. - Axxand SPEAK ACT 12:45, 25 June 2008 (Phils)

Hello, Axxand! You can go ahead and add the information you see as pertinent to Koenma's section on the character list, and other editors will come in behind you and clean it up as necessary. You may be better off asking about this on the article's talk page, though, since I don't actually contribute much to the various YuYu Hakusho articles. —Dinoguy1000 17:50, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Removed 64, 65 Release Dates

Why the removal of the release dates of eps 64 and 65 for Naruto Shippuden? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.223.201.252 (talk) 17:30, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Because the information was inaccurate, and was previously reverted by others more knowledgeable than I. The correct information for episodes 64-65 has since been added by Pahajoki, if you'd like to take a look. —Dinoguy1000 17:50, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
How was it inaccurate? The release dates were correct, and that is all the information that was added. No episode titles were added, which was the case in those previous reversions you mention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.223.201.252 (talk) 20:26, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I was merely following precedent set by Pahajoki, Geg (I think), and possibly one or two others - I don't remember exactly who, since it's been a few days and was a rather trivial matter. Whether or not the release dates were correct is immaterial, you would also have had to provide correct titles, both in Japanese and English, and very likely would have had to source the addition as well. Pahajoki got away with adding the information without a source because he is a regular editor to that article, and his edits are usually quite reliable and accurate. Other than that, you should probably talk to him for more information. —Dinoguy1000 20:33, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Elfen Lied OVA

good writeup on the Elfen Lied OVA summary, thanks. --Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici (talk) 20:30, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I usually don't like writing summaries (I'm under the distinct impression that I'm no good at it ;) ), but I intend to rewatch the OVA and confirm all the details, as well as rewriting the summaries for the main series when I get the time to rewatch it one episode at a time. —Dinoguy1000 05:00, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga/Deletion Archive

Hey, I was wondering what you thought about having User:The wubbot take care of archiving the deletion discussions? It takes care of TV, Films, and several other project ones (including Japan :P). Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Film/archive and Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Fictional characters/archive to see what its archives look like. It might help with the whole issue of many discussions not being archived (something I'm guilty of myself because I forgot we even had one LOL). -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 20:23, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I've been wondering why a bot hasn't been doing it anyways. ;P Regardless, I'm mostly just going through the deletion sorting page history (all 1000+ revisions!!) and picking up all the missed discussions, something I'm not sure wubbot can/will do (though I could be wrong). Speaking of, the whole Gundam cleanup fiasco around January/February of last year was a real nightmare to list. @_@ —Dinoguy1000 05:00, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Might be worth it to see if the bot has some way of going back to find them all for initial page creation. Might save you quite a bit of work :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 05:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
I suppose so... I'll ask about it tomorrow or Monday, though, right now I'm rushing through my watchlist so I can go to bed (got church in the morning, after all). ;) —Dinoguy1000 05:33, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

I just asked about using the wubbot for our deletion archive (as well as some related issues), and now am awaiting a reply there. —Dinoguy1000 17:48, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Cool beans :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 17:50, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
...and I just got a reply. Evidently, the wubbot never archived our deletion discussions because it was being done by hand even before wub wrote his bot, and he specifically told it *not* to archive them as a result. He also stated that the format used in our archive is one that the wubbot cannot handle, although he did make an offer to write a script to convert the whole thing to a sortable table format (I asked him for a sample that I intend to show to the whole project to see what everyone's thoughts on it are). —Dinoguy1000 17:07, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Ah. I think it might be good to convert it, since it would be more consistent, but will wait to see the sample and what others think. :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 17:29, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Love Hina & Production I.G.

It still should be noted that Production I.G's logo is included at the start of each NTSC/US DVD. 66.168.19.135 (talk) 14:25, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

That would be because Xebec is a division of Production I.G. I see no reason to mention that the Love Hina DVDs have a given imprint, it hardly seems noteworthy. —Dinoguy1000 16:23, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Rollback granted

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! PeterSymonds (talk) 17:01, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, Peter! I've previously used rollback on a different wiki, but went ahead and had a look at the Rollback admin school page and the test page as it's been a while since I've last used it. —Dinoguy1000 17:07, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Please remain civil

Comments such as this are not civil and do nothing to engender a cooperative spirit among editors. If you have a concern, please bring it up politely on the appropriate talk page rather than ranting in your edit summaries. Thank you. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:49, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... sorry about that. Not that it's much of an excuse, but I was really hungry and a bit tired when I wrote that, and I definitely didn't mean anything by it. However, I do stand by the spirit of what I said... doubled bullets make zero sense to me in navboxes (and go against their recommended usage on the template documentation pages), and I do think the solid block of links in the "manga" group is not particularly useful in its present state. I'll admit that I've got a bit of a problem remaining civil, it's just the type of person I am, but I try very hard not to intentionally write uncivil comments. That's one that just slipped by me at the time. —Dinoguy1000 16:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Manga/Anime by year nav template

I'm wondering if you know how to add a feature to the {{Anime by decade category header}} and {{Manga by decade category header}} templates which will allow switching off the individual years display for decades that don't have enough in them to sort by year. Basically, it would make them appear like this if you add "individual=no" to the template:

Anime of the 1940s
Decades: 1910192019301940195019601970198019902000

I think it will probably be easy, but I'm still not very comfortable throwing switches into templates. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:39, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Sure, it'd be a simple matter of adding a single #ifeq statement around the by year row... While I'm at it, I may retool the See also functionality so that it doesn't require a seperate year parameter (easy enough with a #switch and nine #expr pairs...). —Dinoguy1000 18:09, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
  Done. —Dinoguy1000 18:43, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

Saw your hidden comment on the List of Bleach episodes page. Wonderful idea! Let's hope this will stop some of the name changing. Thanks a lot! --Skunkboy74 (talk) 21:20, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

No problem - I added a similar message to Visoreds a week or so ago, and it did seem to cut down on edits changing usage to Vizard... Let's hope it does the same here. —Dinoguy1000 21:21, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

template:WikiProject Anime and manga

I noticed on Talk:ARCAM Private Army that the article has been rated start class in the absence of B1...B6. Please update it to be C-class before the next run of the WP1.0 bot (Start class should be manually set). Ps. Can you explain what this does?) Regards, G.A.S 20:47, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Per your request, I figured out a simple way to automatically assess articles as Start-class if they are assessed as B- or C-class and they are marked as failing all six B-class criteria. I should have reread your request before I added it, though, as you intended it only to apply to those articles which failed the entire checklist - I will correct this in a moment. At the same time, perhaps I should set it up to add a maintenance category to those which get auto-reassessed to Start-class so they can be quickly found and manually reassessed? As for the addition you pointed out, it merely checks to see of the class supplied by the template call matches up with the class output by {{WikiProject Anime and manga/B check}}, and if not, it adds the word "automatically" to the phrase "This article has been rated as ...-Class on the assessment scale." It only gets checked if the article is rated C- or B-class, and is meant as a visual cue for project members that the article's assessment may need to be manually updated, but I can remove it if necessary. —Dinoguy1000 20:59, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
All right, I updated B check so it only assesses articles as Start-class if they explicitly fail all six criteria. Sorry for the previous state of affairs... —Dinoguy1000 21:06, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
No problem, thank you very much. As for "automatically", it will only serve a purpose if there is a maintenance category, which is reguarly cleared up. Your choice whether you think it is needed or not;) Thank you, G.A.S 21:12, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
All right, any ideas on what to call the category, and how to categorize it? Category:Automatically reassessed anime and manga articles under Category:Start-Class anime and manga articles, Category:C-Class anime and manga articles, and Category:B-Class anime and manga articles? —Dinoguy1000 21:19, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
I would just put it under Category:Anime and manga articles by quality, as it may categorise the articles under any of start, C or B class. It should be an easy category to keep empty, though;) G.A.S 05:20, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
All right. No problem with the proposed category name, then? If not, I'll make the change later today or tomorrow. —Dinoguy1000 17:45, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

RahXephon music

Considering I created the article just a couple weeks ago and am still in the process of cleaning it up, is it too much to ask that you would have asked me why I named the article what I did? Or at least let me know when you decided it needed to be changed? Westrim (talk) 22:06, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I don't usually review an article's history before moving it to be compliant with the MoS, although I do look through relevant move logs and talk pages to check for prior activity. That being said, the old title was, if nothing else, in violation of WP:CAPS - words such as "music" and "album" should never be capitalized in article titles unless they are the first word of the title, or if they are part of a proper title (title of book, movie, etc.). In addition, the simpler form "List of X albums" as opposed to "List of X music and albums" is supported by WP:ANIME consensus (I can't say anything for WP:MUSIC, not being a member and being unfamiliar with their guidelines and past discussions). —Dinoguy1000 22:19, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't aware of WP:CAPS- I just considered it a title, which are usually capitalized. I'm aware of the consensus but as there were several singles and an "audio drama" (which I have yet to check on) in addition to the albums, it seemed inappropriate to only acknowledge the albums, regardless of convention Westrim (talk) 23:24, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
That seems to me akin to calling an episode list "List of X episodes and movies" just because it includes a list of movies, or "List of X episodes and DVDs" just because it includes a list of DVD releases (note that these are both standard additions to episode lists, where there are not enough movies to support a seperate list of movies). That being said, I don't feel very strongly on music list articles (most of my time on list articles is spent with lists of episodes and chapters), so if you want to bring this up with the project as a whole, they can probably explain the reasoning better than I can... or you might be able to change consensus. Who knows? ;) --User:Dinoguy1000 as 66.116.22.178 (talk) 02:45, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Shonen Jump check

Hey! Per the listing at the project magazine archive, you have the November 2007 issue of Shonen Jump? The Dragon Ball article has a reference to that issue, but it is missing some basic information (like article name, author, etc), and I'd like to also know what the rest of the article says as its just kinda shoved in the artcle's production section. The reference says the article is on page 388. Can you take a peek and let me know if that's right and help with the missing info? -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:54, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure, no problem! I'll get the necessary info when I get home (and hope that I don't end up having to type the article out, since I don't have a scanner I can use... =P ). —Dinoguy1000 15:16, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks. Hopefully it isn't too big an article :P -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:40, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
All right, let's see... The article's title is "Interview with the Majin! Revisited", and it's a continuation of an interview from the previous issue, aptly titled "Interview with the Majin!" (on page 360). There is no author information in either interview segment - IIRC, Shonen Jump makes an annoying habit of omitting that info. As for the particular question mentioned in Dragon Ball:
  • Shonen Jump: Most of the girls in Dragon Ball Z are beautiful and sexy, but they're also strong. Is there a reason for that?
  • Akira Toriyama: The reason is simple. I'm uncomfortable drawing weak females. It's no fun drawing them that way.
In the rest of the interview, Toriyama talks about how the most powerful characters in DBZ tend to be the smallest, as well as some of his personal interests and the like. In the first interview, he talks about whether he feels a special connection to the word "dragon" and if he likes them, whether he knew he was going to draw an "epic drama of different generations" and if he had a message he wanted to convey to his readers, the appearance of Majin Boo, and one question about Neko Majin (there was a mini-interview specifically about it on the previous page, if you'd like some information for its article too). If you want me to give you more full questions and answers, just ask! ;) --66.116.22.178 (talk) 00:49, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
A week later, I get back to answering :P I hope I don't have to move again for a long long time. I think the interview on Neko Majin would be useful, as the DB article talks about it, but its disjointed and makes no sense. If any of the qs include production info, that would also be very useful. :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:17, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
All right, I'll dig out those issues and read through the interviews more carefully, and see if there's anything useful there. ;) —Dinoguy1000 15:51, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Which name, exactly? Could you give me a link, perhaps? —Dinoguy1000 17:13, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
~jumps in~ (pun intended LOL), Jump proposed a magazine task force for the project, but that's separate from the magazine archive. :)m -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 17:26, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Jump? You mean Jump Guru, that would be me. : ) – J U M P G U R U @Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 17:59, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Aah, I see... I don't remember seeing anything about it on the project talk page or any of its associated subpages, was all the discussion on user talk pages? —Dinoguy1000 17:04, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
I think it was mentioned on the project talk, but mostly done on the WikiProjects board. Would probably get more interest if it was proposed directly on the project page. Two of our mag articles are ready for GA, I think, except for a copyedit. (and LOL at my "saving" your page from you :-P). -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 17:57, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... now that you talk about it like that, I think I do remember reading something about it somewhere... but I can't recall any specifics. A task force *might* fly, or perhaps the Magazine Archive task force could be expanded to include that type of work? (no problem about that, I half-expected someone to revert it anyways... ;) although I have to ask, weren't you the least bit surprised to see an anon edit showing that level of technical knowledge?) —Dinoguy1000 18:01, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
I think it would be too different to make it part of the archive. The Archive is really an internal oriented thing for project members to help one another, while this proposed one would focus on magazine articles. And not really...I've seen far too many anon's pop out obscure policy and guidelines links to be surprised ;) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:24, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... I really need to think through what I say a little better, that should have been pretty obvious. ;P Interesting about the anons, though, but then I really don't spend much time browsing talk pages, so... —Dinoguy1000 18:47, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

All right, here's what you wanted, Collectonian (note that the Nekomajin "mini-interview" is actually just one of SJ's standard lead-ins to their manga previews; nevertheless, it's got some info you might like, so I've typed it out for you):

  • Nekomajin Z (by Akira Toriyama) (p. 358; October 2007)
    • While Dragon Ball Z's Goku, Vegeta and Majin Boo were busy blasting each other to bits in the manga, they were also making cameo appearances in another series by DBZ creator Akira Toriyama. That series, called Nekomajin (neko = cat, majin = magical being), told the adventures of three different members of a race of cat-like creatures called (surprise!) Nekomajin, including one named Z who is the hero of the chapter you're about to read.
    • SHONEN JUMP is proud to bring you the first chapter of Nekomajin ever to be published in English! The chapter that follows is one of eight that appeared in Japan's Shonen Jump between 1999 and 2005, and were compiled into a single volume that was printed on nice, big pages and included snazzy color art.
    • But before you get started, we'll answer three questions to give you a head start.
      1. What exactly is a Nekomajin?
As Toriyama-sensei tells it, a Nekomajin is "a cat-like creature that can use a bit of magic." Twenty-eight Nekomajin are confirmed to exist in the world, and while nothing is known of their life cycle, they appear to live in the countryside and enjoy a simple, rustic life. Their so-called magic is nothing special, but Nekomajin seem to excel in martial arts.
      2. Who is the cave boy, and why does he offer his koala?
We don't know the cave boy's name, but he's a friend of Nekomajin Z's and hangs out with him. Whenever Nekomajin Z and the boy spot a tourist (especially a Japanese one) they try to extort money by offering a photo opportunity with a fake koala, which is actually Nekomajin Z in disguise! (Why? Er... why not?)
      3. What does the writing on the Nekomajin's shirt say?
The symbol on the front of Z's shirt is katakana for "ネ" (ne), which stands for "Nekomajin." And fans of Dragon Ball Z will know that Z's costume looks a lot like Son Goku's...
  • Interview with the Majin! (p. 360; October 2007)
    Shonen Jump
Did you have in mind that you were going to draw basically an epic drama of different generations? I mean, we see Goku as a kid and he grows up strong and gets married, has a family. We even see his son grow up and fight alongside his father. Is there any message you wanted to convey to the readers?
    Akira Toriyama
Unfortunately, I never imagined it. My style in working on a serialized manga is this: in order to keep the sense of suspenseful tension, I worked without thinking about the next episode. The author himself was wondering who would win the battle.
    Jump
When we last interviewed you, at Jump Festa, you told us that the idea of Nekomajin came from your pet cat. Is one of your cats as fat and lazy as Nekomajin Z? Could you tell us more about how you came to draw Nekomajin Z?
    Toriyama
Our household cat is a Cornish Rex. So the cat is rather skinny. Nekomajin was inspired by how its face looks when it sleeps. Karin-sama from Dragon Ball was also inspired in the same manner. I wanted to draw a silly gag manga as a repercussion after the long period of drawing a story-heavy manga.
    Jump
Is the appearance of Majin Boo inspired by the Arabian-style majin, or "genie"? His clothes seem to have a sort of Arabian fairy-tale style. Or were you thinking of a different kind of "majin"?
    Toriyama
Right. I saw The Arabian Nights when I was a kid, so I have this set image of what a majin, or genie, should look like. So that's how I came to put him in that costume.
    Jump
After working on Dragon Quest, Dragon Ball and Blue Dragon, do you feel a special connection to the word "dragon"?
    Toriyama
It's just a coincidence. Dragon Ball is the only title that I came up with. [Dragon Quest and Blue Dragon are not his creations. -Ed.]
    Jump
Do you like dragons? If you can have a dragon as a pet, would you like an Asian dragon or a European dragon? Why? And what would you name it?
    Toriyama
Definitely a European dragon. There is no awkwardness in the design of European dragons, and I really like the balance of its features. If small dragons existed, I really would like to have one as a pet. I'd probably name it Gon.

(by the way, just so you know, a later feature on page 382 of the same issue states that "In Japan, Trunks was so popular that they named a soft drink after him: Trunks Cola" (21 Things Every Human Should Know About Dragon Ball!))

  • Interview with the Majin! Revisited (p. 388; November 2007)
    Jump
Most of the girls in Dragon Ball Z are beautiful and sexy, but they're also strong. Is there a reason for that?
    Toriyama
The reason is simple. I'm uncomfortable drawing weak females. It's no fun drawing them that way.
    Jump
In several parts of Dragon Ball, the most powerful character is actually the smallest, cutest and youngest-looking. For example, young Goku, or Freeza and Majin Boo in their final transformations. Is that because kids are small and cute, but also want to be powerful?
    Toriyama
I wanted to go against people's expectation that the strong ones always get stronger and bigger. I consciously tried to switch between telling a straightforward story and telling one that was unconventional and contradictory.
    Jump
Would you recommend that readers train in martial arts? And what martial arts are you into?
    Toriyama
I think learning a martial art is wonderful for the mind [as well as the body]. I rarely watch TV shows that feature martial arts. Occasionally I'll watch boxing matches. Boxers who are quiet yet strong are cool! But they're rare.
    Jump
Do you have a favorite kung fu movie?
    Toriyama
I've watched a lot of them, but I think Enter the Dragon and Drunken Master are the best kung fu movies ever made. When it comes to movies in general, I'd include Alien and Galaxy Quest. Those four movies are amazing for the way they get people excited!
    Jump
Could you give some tips on how to do a cool Kamehameha pose? And what would be the best angle to shoot the action from?
    Toriyama
If you move the camera around while you're shooting, the motion and the edits are going to be complicated. But if you shoot from one place, I'd say it would be behind the person, slightly to the right, if they were posing on that side.
    Jump
Lastly, is there a question that you've always wanted to be asked?
    Toriyama
This isn't something I've wanted to say, but my manga-ka friends think it's unusual. I don't have much interest in manga and anime, and I hardly ever read or watch them. I don't understand it myself. I loved manga and anime until I was about 11. After that, I pretty much lost interest, and now I don't read or watch them anymore. It's probably because my interest shifted to movies and so on. But I've never thought about making a movie. I'd rather think up a manga story. Also, my personality means that I only see what's ahead. I've already forgotten a lot about the manga I've drawn. To be honest, I'm often at a loss when I'm asked Dragon Ball questions and end up asking myself, "What is the question about?"

There you go. I tried to order the questions somewhat logically, since no obvious order was given in the magazines, and all typos are likely my fault (I'm typing all this at 1 on the morning LOL). --Dinoguy1000 as 66.116.22.178 (talk) 06:31, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

And here's an interview with Toriyama from an earlier issue (July 2006; Number 43, Volume 4 Issue 7; pp. 8, 10, 12, 14; titled "Interview with Akira Toriyama!"):

Page 8

  • Shonen Jump: Your first manga, Dr. Slump, is being published in English — what is your message for English-language fans who have read Dragon Ball but not Dr. Slump — what should they expect?
  • Akira Toriyama: You're really doing Dr. Slump? It's so Japanese, I wonder if some of the jokes will translate. And it's such a silly manga, but I love creating silly manga. That's my specialty. Please read it.
  • SJ: What techniques or programs do you use for your computer coloring of your recent color art?
  • AT: Originally the reason I started doing computer graphics was that I'd just gotten fed up with the process of coloring with ink, so I started using the PC. The was before it was standard to do so. I thought it was fun. It's difficult to get the subtleties in color, but I no longer wanted to color without the PC. It's not messy. I use Photoshop, but a very old version of Photoshop, version three. If I have time, I also use a program called Painter.
  • SJ: The Dragon Ball characters have been adapted into video games, using 3D art. Do you have any interest in using 3D art in your manga? What do you think of cel-shading?

Page 10

  • AT: Yes, I am interested, and I'd love to try it, but at my age it would be difficult to try and learn it. So I'm thinking if my kids learn it, they could teach me. And yes, if you're striving to have a manga quality in the animation, then cel-shading is the way to go.
  • SJ: Have you ever worked directly on animation?
  • AT: I have wanted to, but the work level seems huge, so I haven't. I can see that writing a story for animation looks like a lot of fun, but not drawing the individual animation cels. I certainly can draw as well as the animators.
  • SJ: In the past few years you've done some short stories for Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan, including some with the character Nekomajin — can you explain his origin?
  • AT: I have a cat, and I use my cat as a model. I thought of the character Kuririn from Dragon Ball, and then I further added comical elements.
  • SJ: Do you own a lot of pets?
  • AT: Yes, including lots of fish and turtles.
  • SJ: Today, when you draw a short-story manga, do you draw it all in a few days in one intensive burst of energy — like when you were doing a weekly manga — or do you draw it more leisurely and slowly, a few hours a day or less, over a longer period of time?

Page 12

  • AT: I really want to work on it a lot at the time, and I try, bur for some reason my arm just doesn't work until it's three days prior to a deadline. And I always regret it every single time. My hand starts to ache, and I'm not able to sleep — I just stay up all night.
  • SJ: When you drew a children's book, Toccio the Angel, did you think of your own children's taste?
  • AT: I actually started it a long time ago, so in the beginning, yes, I had my kids in mind. But I took so long to finish it, that by the time I did, my kids were all grown up, already in junior high school, and weren't interested in that sort of thing anymore. And as I was drawing, I started integrating things that I like, such as animals.
  • SJ: If Dragon Ball's Goku had not been part monkey, is there another animal that you would have used to create your main character?
  • AT: I didn't actually intend Goku to be based on an animal, per se. In the beginning he was just a human being, but I was told by my editor at the time that he didn't look appealing or make a strong impression. I sort of wanted an ordinary person, but it wasn't approved, so I gave him a tail.

Page 14

  • SJ: In the beginning of Dragon Ball, there are many animal-headed people — panda people, crocodile people, cow people, cat people, etc. — in the backgrounds. But, by the end of the series, there are almost no animal-headed people. Was this a result of the increasing "seriousness" of the story?
  • AT: It could be the seriousness, but it's probably that I'd forgotten by the end to include them. In the beginning I was still working under the after-effects of Dr. Slump.
  • SJ: Several readers have asked if Namekians are plants. Of course, based on their names, they seem to be slugs... but they are green, they have a strange method of reproduction, and they live on water.
  • AT: That's a tough question. I thought of Piccolo first, and I wanted to draw him as a scary character, and it was only afterwards that I had to come up with his species. Since they have antennae, I thought they looked like slugs. So "Namekian" is a play on words, but I didn't think too deeply about it. [The word for "slug" in Japanese is "namekuji."] I don't think they're plants, but they may be hermaphrodites.

In addition, a blurb on page 8 (titled "Catch Some Z's") mentions "[...] What does the 'Z' mean? It's just a subtitle invented for the second season of the Japanese anime, distinguishing the earlier, funnier stories from the later, more intense stories when the characters are grown up." On p. 14, there's another blurb, titled "Dr. Slump" and stating "[...] (A hopeful note to aspiring comic artists: Toriyama drew it while living with his parents.)" (I omitted text from both blurbs for brevity). —Dinoguy1000 19:24, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

WOW! Thanks! :) Will try to get it incorporated tonight.-- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:27, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Aah, no problem. ;) I'm actually considering writing Viz Media and asking their permission to duplicate all these interviews and whatnot on a subpage of mine, so we don't actually need a hard copy of a magazine issue to check this stuff (unless it's necessary to confirm that it's correct, was published, etc.). Any thoughts? —Dinoguy1000 19:31, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Character covers

re[1], should the {{graphic novel list}} template documentation be updated to better reflect the norm? -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 17:55, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... I don't see why not(and personally, I'd like to see a {{{CoverCharacters}}} parameter added, but that's just me)... And now that I look at the documentation, what's the "Cover art" deal about? I've never seen that before... —Dinoguy1000 18:00, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
No idea...its been there since the beginning of it, but its never used like that and makes no sense to me. Not like the cover artist is usually different, from the manga-ka :-P-- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 16:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, then, I'd say go ahead and update the documentation, rm the "Cover art" and add "Title" and "Cover character(s)", with the formatting currently used (definition lists). I may start a conversation on the template's talk page to add dedicated parameters for both of these while I'm at it - IIRC, it's been proposed before, but no one bothered to do anything about it. —Dinoguy1000 17:08, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Your edit

Could you explain why, in your edit [2], the section headers are inappropriate? It seems that there is concern that the opening section is too long (which explains Sumimu adding that header) and that the character section describes two different sets of characters.

You reverted Sumimu but didn't actually point to a MOS guideline to correct the error. Kylu (talk) 06:32, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

The first header he added, the one to shorten the lead, was inappropriate because it didn't really solve the problem - it merely left a stub lead, and shoved the rest of it off into a bad section. The content is all lead content, and is not suitable for a section. If it's too long, the solution is to edit it down to size, not to just split most of it off into a new section that goes against the animanga MOS (note that even if the intent was to create a "Conception and Production" section, it would likely still have to be started from scratch, with proper sources to back everything up). The second header wasn't inappropriate per se, but also wasn't necessary - the character section is already split into the two groups by the level three header already used in it. If you think the header still belongs there, though, I wouldn't be against its reinsertion. —Dinoguy1000 16:51, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

List of InuYasha terms

I've removed your prod tag on List of InuYasha terms because the article has already been up for deletion once in April 2008 (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of InuYasha terms). Articles that have been to AFD before cannot be prodded for deletion. If you still feel the article should be deleted, you should nominated it for deletion at WP:AFD for a second time. --Farix (Talk) 12:15, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Aah, sorry about that, I failed to notice... thanks for the catch! I may nominate it for AfD in the next day or two, I've got too much else to do today. =P —Dinoguy1000 19:08, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

FLCL DVD

In your edit comment you were asking for details on the liner notes. The product is the "FLCL Ultimate Edition" DVD Box set. It comes with (among other goodies) a booklette about 20 pages long including a glossary/lexicon for each episode, notes from various people involved in the production of both the original production, and the English dub, and short essays on a few select topics, including Haruko's Bass and Haruko's Vespa. -Verdatum (talk) 22:41, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

All right, cool... I don't suppose you can provide the exact page number of the essay on Haruko's guitar? Posting the sessay - either here or on Talk:FLCL would also help, along with any other details you think might be useful (I've never sourced (or seen sourced) DVD liner notes, so I'm not exactly sure what info might be necessary myself... Collectonian, I know you're watching this, do you have anything to add?). —Dinoguy1000 22:45, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately, putting up the essay would be a copyvio, however, I put up the quote in question in the discussion page. The essay is titled The Bass-ics of "FLCL" And is credited to Hiroaki Sakurai. The pages in the booklet are not numbered. It should come as no surprise, the booklet itself has no ISBN or other identifier.
BTW, it does indeed go on to say that one of the modifications to it is a left-handed neck and left handed body (as opposed to McCartney's which was the more common left handed body but a right handed neck). I didn't think it was worth going into that level of detail...but it may be appropriate, because the director especially and apparently Japanese in general have a big fascination with left handed people. -Verdatum (talk) 05:04, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, the ISBN would be that on the DVD (DVDs recieve ISBN numbers, don't they?), and a page number should still be given, even if the pages aren't actually numbered. I'm still not sure exactly how to structure the reference, though... =P —Dinoguy1000 18:31, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

WP:ANIME/D

Hi Dinoguy1000,

I have recently discovered and added ArticleAlertbot to the abovementioned page. The intention being that the bot can take over the process of adding PROD's and Misc items e.g VFH-10 Veritech AGAC PRODDED, as well as displaying the results thereof ... and redirected.

You might want to consider replacing the manually maintained list with the bot maintained list, as the subpage is designed to be transcluded onto the main list.

Just tweak the settings as follow and replace the manually maintained list in the same way as I have done with WP:ANIME/ASSESS:

{{User:ArticleAlertbot/Subscription|workflows=DEL|banner=WikiProject Anime and manga|display=box}}→ {{User:ArticleAlertbot/Subscription|workflows=DEL, !AFD|banner=WikiProject Anime and manga}} I have opened a discussion earlier, but received no response yet, so I guess there are no objections yet. Another comprehensive list is available as well, from which the AFD list and archive can be maintained.

G.A.Stalk 06:20, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... I think this would make archiving completed discussions slightly harder, but on the upside, we no longer have to hunt down the stuff and list it ourselves. I'll look into this more when I've got more time, right now I have to work through a 5 day backlog of edits... @_@ —Dinoguy1000 19:52, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Re:Cut and paste move

Is List of Beyblade V-Force episodes the correct title? If so, I can do a history merge between the two to fix this. Cheers, — sephiroth bcr (converse) 21:16, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

The Cain Saga

Hi. Um, I noticed that you moved the Godchild page to The Cain Saga. I don't think that The Cain Saga is the name of the series as a whole; it is the name of the 5 volume prequel. The name the Viz editors use for the whole series is the Earl Cain Series (and I'm not quite sure if it is The Earl Cain Saga and not the Earl Cain Series) so I guess that makes it the offical title for the series? Anyway, thanks for reading this. Kaguya-chan (talk) 20:14, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Actually yes, The Cain Saga is the name for the series as a whole, and the official English name of Count Cain, the first of the two manga series. It is also the name that Viz is using on their website. Godchild is used only for the second part of the series. :) (my turn! *muahahahaha*) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 20:43, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick reply, Collectonian! =D As for the name of the series as a whole, if you have reliable references stating that the series is known in English as the "Earl Cain Saga" or similar, we can discuss a move - when I did the work on the The Cain Saga article, I was actually anticipating the potential that the article might end up moved again. —Dinoguy1000 20:51, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
I was using the editor's note in The Cain Saga where he refers to the series as a whole as the Earl Cain Series. The first of the editor notes says: "Welcome to Forgotten Juliet, the first volume of The Cain Saga and, in the timeline of Cain's life, the first installment in the Earl Cain Series. A prequel to Godchild, which is actually Earl Cain Series 5". Then on the opposite page there is "Read Kaori Yuki's entire Earl Cain Series Series 1:The Cain Saga:Forgotten Juliet Series 2: The Cain Saga:The Sound of a Boy Hatching Series 3: The Cain Saga:Kafka Series 4:The Cain Saga:The Mark of the Red Ram, Parts 1&2 Series 5:Godchild, Volumes 1-8". And here's the entire editor's note in Kafka:"You don't need to know the title to get that the third volume in The Cain Saga is Kaori Yuki's ode to the style of Franz Kafka, the German literary master of surreal paranoid delusion. You could even argue that the entire Earl Cain Series begs at least thematic comparison to that other Kafka classic of convulation, The Trial. Here we meet the mysterious Justine, referenced later in Godchild, for the first time. Jizabel fills in a horrid hole in Cain's family tree. And in true Kafkaesque fashion, we are treated to the mind-bending tale of a very confused girl in the one-off, "Ellie in Summer Clothes". Enjoy, Joel Enos Editor Earl Cain Series". Wow, that was a lot to type.  :) Kaguya-chan (talk) 21:21, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
*sigh* as if it wasn't complicated enough already... I haven't read any of the first series (and it's not available in my local library system, so I can't at this time), otherwise I'd have read that myself and taken it into account. This is almost depressingly complicated... T~T It's also important to note, though, that The Cain Saga is only a "prequel" to Godchild here - in Japan, TCS was released first, and Godchild was released as a continuation/sequel (as I understand it). —Dinoguy1000 17:39, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Ok. Um, so what would count as reliable references in a case like this? Kaguya-chan (talk) 21:11, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Honestly, I'm just not sure anymore. Volume 1 of Godchild has a similar explanatory note at the beginning (see User:Dinoguy1000/Chapter lists#The Cain Saga), so I'm starting to lean more towards going ahead and renaming everything as the Earl Cain series/saga. Any thoughts, Collectonian? —Dinoguy1000 19:17, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Since Viz itself and the notes seem to be saying Earl Cain, I'd guess that would be the more official name for the series as a whole. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:29, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
All right, I'll move the pages in a bit if no one else beats me to it. This means, unfortunately, that the lead will have to be rewritten (again =P ). —Dinoguy1000 19:31, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Why did you rename the page Earl Cain Saga and not Earl Cain Series? (even though Earl Cain Saga does sound better than Earl Cain Series.) I thought that the notes referred to it as the Earl Cain Series. Kaguya-chan (talk) 23:07, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Frankly, I'm not sure the saga/series part is actually part of the title (it's always lowercase in the notes, for one). I think it may actually be best to just remove it altogether (boy, do I feel bad for anyone in the future who tries looking through the move logs for these articles =P ). —Dinoguy1000 18:30, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
In TCS notes, series is uppercase (at least up to vol.3). I don't know about the Godchild notes though. Kaguya-chan (talk) 20:28, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
In the Godchild vol. 1 note, it's lowercase (I pay very close attention when transcribing stuff like this, so the quote on the above-linked subpage of mine is accurate). You can go ahead and move to "Series" if you want, I just want all the moves to be over with. =P —Dinoguy1000 20:34, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Ok. I'll move the page to Earl Cain (since the notes agree on that). Kaguya-chan (talk) 20:50, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
I'd go with just Earl Cain or Earl Cain (series), myself, since its back and forth on the upper/lowercase.

Hope it helps :)
. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 21:04, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
The page is now moved to Earl Cain (series). Kaguya-chan (talk) 21:34, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Er... if there's nothing else sharing the name of "Earl Cain", the "(series)" disambiguator isn't necessary, so the page still needs to be moved one more time. —Dinoguy1000 21:40, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Doh...Earl Cain was taken up by one of the redirects/moves :P -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 21:47, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Aah, that explains it... I see you've already speedy-move tagged the redirect, Collectonian. ("boy, do I feel bad for anyone in the future who tries looking through the move logs for these articles =P ") —Dinoguy1000 21:50, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
