We don't feel the need to emphasize nationality with any others. It's just that for a time there was one editor who created dozens of articles about British bikes and put that in every lead sentence. Tribsa

"Not sure we need yet another page on customization like home-built." Fair enough, although the large number of contributors seem to think it's worth saying something about a Tribsa. A tribsa photo would be nice! I wouldn't object to a single page on Tritons, Norvins, Tribsas, etc; but I'd be happy to leave things be for the moment. Please stop using user talk pages for content issues about articles. Pretty much, use my talk page when you have something that is only about me. There are other editors who are interested in Tribsa, and they aren't necessarily watching my talk page. Please use Talk:Tribsa -- or whatever article talk page is appropriate -- in order to collaborate more effectively with the interested parties. Or use Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Motorcycling. Mystery

Please solve this mystery if you can...

On September 23rd, traffic to Portal:James Bond doubled, and has stayed at the new level since then. I can't figure out what happened.

Traffic to Outline of James Bond stayed the same (though it was at the higher-level already), which leads me to suspect changes made somewhere in Wikipedia.

You know, this type of user talk message amounts to "please edit Wikipedia my way, not your way." If there is some Wikipedia policy that I'm not aware of that justifies your opinions, that's fine. Cite it. But I've explained why I don't think it's an attack page or undue weight. The burden is on you to defend your opinions on the article's talk page. Campagna T-REX

Hi, I am brand new on wikipedia and it much more complicated than expected and there is tons to read and understand before posting as I found out. I work for the little company and I'm trying to bring more information about the T-REX, its history and its specifications and the different models. I understood that I need to declare that I work for them and yes I'm doing this in good faith. So I understood that I need to discuss this in the "discussion" page of it. But how? Just go to Talk:Campagna T-Rex and say what change you want to make, and provide an independent, published source. See WP:CITE. Unpublished information from the company is unverifiable, so that's out, and most anything the company says is not independent so that that's mostly out too. We rely on manufacturers for totally uncontroversial statistics, like wheelbase or tire size, but controversial data like horsepower, weight, or performance should come from an independent source. Reviews should come from independent sources, and should include both good and the bad opinions. If you're cherry picking only positive reviews and ignoring criticisms, expect to be ignored. If a published reviewer criticizes a Campagna product, don't assume Wikipedia is a platform for the company to respond -- see Wikipedia is not a soapbox. After you've posted your suggested edits, wait for another editor to incorporate them in the article. Don't expect an instantaneous response. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 21:13, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Do me a favour and check out the WP:POINT edits made by User:Autoindustrie on some of the bike articles. A second opinion would be useful. The quick version... He is a single purpose account whose only contributions were adding his own website (an automotive blog) as references to articles - clear COI there. I reverted all his edits and we had a discussion on my talk page about it. Then he got a bit POINTy by going through some of my edit history removing some perfectly reasonable references such as Motorcycle News and Motorcycle USA which as you know are acceptable. He also removed some Kevin Ash stuff and Daily Telegraph. While I can see that the former is bloggish (and I know you have or have had reservations about that site), the Telegraph itself is a reputable publication and Ash himself is a very good journalist. I suspect he will revert my edits and delete the exact same references again. He also has the rather odd idea that primary sources are preferred to any other - so a company's own press releases and brochures are better than third party sources. --Biker Biker (talk) 17:10, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Roper Photos

Yes, I'll upload the 1896 magazine pix of Roper with his steam Velocipedede, the only pic I've ever seen of the two together; I've been researching Roper for some time (vintage racing legend Dave Roper is a distant relation), and just found this photo a few days ago, and added it to my article on Roper. There is a "chat" button to talk to sales & support about their outreach programs. I know they have free and discounted academic licenses, but I'm not sure about other fields. You can also use the free version from http://www.tableausoftware.com/products/public , which doesn't let you save files; you can only publish on the web. But I'd use the 30 day trial version first to get the full feature set.

change to dual sport page

Hi Dennis, I agree with your comments about waiting for acceptance / rejection of the Adventure (motorcycle). A fact I should have previously considered. The cited article I removed however would seem to support the need for a separate "Adventure" category rather than it's elimination though. I feel "dual sport" is a misleading categorization for motorcycles like the Ducati Multistradas, Triumph Tiger 800 & 1000 & 1200, BMW GS 800 & 1200, VStrom 650 & 1000, Versys 650 & 1000, Honda CrossRunner, Honda CrossTour etc. Although some but not all of these motorcycles have some off road capability "Adventure" is what most of the general motorcycling public and motorcycling press would categorize them as. --Versys guy (talk) 02:23, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Consider what it said right at the top of one of the links you cited, Motorcycle-USA: "Setting out to do a comparison of adventure bikes is a tricky task. In a segment where there is really no definition of class based upon displacement or any other key factor, each manufacturer takes a design approach based more or less upon what its view of an adventure bike should be. That view can vary greatly, and so it should, just like the roads these bikes will travel."

Adventure is a confused, muddled category. Nobody agrees on the definition. Manufacturers just call any bike they want an "adventure" bike. Maybe in a few years it will become clear what is or isn't an adventure bike, but for now it's nothing but marketing buzz.
