Habibe Kadiri High School Review edit

Hello Arg342!

Thank you so much for your comment, i tried many times to finish this article and did not know what to do when it was rejected. You explained very well the problems, i can come closer now to get it ready. I could not find any other articles than those i added and there is also no wiki article in turkish (i will do it soon after this). Turkish press did publish some stuff, i remember the turkish foreign minister visited the school. I couldn't found anything from the turkish government at the moment but will search again. Afghan sources are written in arabic so i am not aware of it, might someone help out in this case... Thank you again for your help and i hope i can contact you again after solving this issues. Hi Arg. I'm just letting you know that I am very impressed with the infobox table you made - it's exactly what was needed. Keep up the good work! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:22, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Westchester photos edit

I re-added those three tags because the photos were uploaded to Commons by socks of a user who is banned from this Wikipedia due to an extensive history of egregiously bad behavior, including representing hundreds of images published by others as his own work. Not all of his socks are blocked at Commons, and administrators at Commons have been reluctant to delete their images unless it can be proven that a particular individual image is a copyvio. These three have not been proven to be copyvios, but I am convinced that all three of those images are misrepresented, and it would be good to be able to replace them with images that are truly free. --Orlady (talk) 13:59, 19 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Arg342, and thank you for the kind words! We were actually both editing the article at the same time. I encountered an edit conflict on my first save, but was able to use the back button to collect my changes and keep going. If anything, I thought you might have been angry that I overwrote your edit ;). Have yourself a great day Arg342, thanks again, and happy editing! :)  -- WikHead (talk) 04:02, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

link to journal edit

What is the point of this edit? The link to the article about the journal worked. After your edit, the link was no longer there. Michael Hardy (talk) 03:52, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

My thought was that it was overlinking or repeatlinking since the same link was in the reference right above it. Sorry if I gave offence. However, the article does needs Wikifying. It contains a fair number of terms that are not obvious to the layman. --Arg342 (talk) 12:33, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Mount Morris Junior/Senior High School edit

Hello, Arg342. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Mount Morris Junior/Senior High School, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. SarahStierch (talk) 22:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Gulliver's Nightclub fire edit

Hi, I'm Jackson Peebles. Arg342, thanks for creating Gulliver's Nightclub fire!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Great article! Lots of good, reliable citations and good usage of categories. Even the category selection is excellent. The only thing that I request is that you link to this page from some relevant other pages on Wikipedia.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Jackson Peebles (talk) 21:41, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thomas Jefferson High School (Rochester, New York) edit

Hey Arg342 :). Thanks for writing Thomas Jefferson High School (Rochester, New York) - I just encountered it at Special:NewPagesFeed, and I rarely see an article on a school so wonderfully referenced. Keep up the good work! Ironholds (talk) 22:44, 13 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the kind words. Did you ever say, I'll just do something quick and easy on Wikipedia, and then you get into it and its neither quick nor easy? I was was working my way through the counties on List of high schools in New York and got to Monroe County. Rochester schools are, to put it kindly, in a state of flux. So once I started, I saw what I stepped in and had to do more adding and fixing.
I have a standalone C# program on my personal PC that takes the NCES database entries for a school and creates a well referenced stub. In this case, I remember it took about 2 hours to Google the real status of the school and add that second paragraph. So much as for quick and easy! --Arg342 (talk) 05:11, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yeek! Yeah, I know the feeling. My current problem; trying to get R to interact with (a) the ISO-639-3 list of language codes and equivalent human-readable names, (b) the apache dblist for our slaves, and (c) wikidata. It works perfectly, until you realise our naming scheme isn't ISO-compliant, and that R's JSON package doesn't have full unicode support. No, really. In 2013. When I started this off all I wanted to do was get a reliable bloody list of the database slaves :/. Ironholds (talk) 08:24, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

The word "due" edit

Hi! You changed the word "due" in the AlphaGo article, with the edit comment "Changed wording of play against Lee Se-dol from "due" to "scheduled" to clarify it is simply something that will happen in the future, not reason for." Your edit's fine, and I've got no problem with it, but I just thought I should let you know that, while "due to" can be used to mean "because of", it's not the primary meaning of the word. The most common use of the word "due" that it is used to signify that something is expected to happen or planned for a certain time. For example: "the baby is due to be born nine months from now", or "payment is due today". -- The Anome (talk) 11:11, 29 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

For anyone who stumbles on this in the future, the sentence in question originally read:
AlphaGo is due to challenge South Korean professional Go player Lee Se-dol, who is a 9-dan, in March 2016.
which I changed to:
AlphaGo is scheduled to challenge South Korean professional Go player Lee Se-dol, who is a 9-dan, in March 2016.
The Anome, you could be right that due has a primary meaning of future happening. However, I read the sentence in question very quickly (I know that I shouldn't, but I often do) and was really confused. I swear that my first take on it was that the creation of the project was because of a challenge issued by the individual in the future! It just did not make any sense! I had to read a couple of the reference sources before I caught on to the writer's intention. By switching the word, IMHO, it clarifies the meaning.
While graceful prose is wonderful, it is my belief that simpler, less ambiguous writing is best for Wikipedia.--Arg342 (talk) 02:02, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
And you're quite right -- your version is better than mine was. Regards, -- The Anome (talk) 09:25, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Livonia High School (New York) edit

The article Livonia High School (New York) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sign of meeting the GNG. The only independent sources are non-secondary database entries, and a BEFORE search reveals only routine coverage.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
