JN.1 Variant edit

It has recently popped up, and I am not sure if now would be a good idea to add it, or we wait for a bit of time until it's credible enough to add reliable sources. This has been something new since last year, thanks to the COVID vaccine being efficient in stopping the virus. lmk when this could be added. Seems to be causing enough alarm that Singapore and Indonesia are introducing (minor) restrictions, so we should add it: https://www.livemint.com/news/world/singapore-government-implements-preventive-norms-for-travellers-amid-covid-scare-11702518104782.html Jpatokal (talk) 21:08, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

JN.1 - split off alone or as section of BA.2.86? edit

Sooner or later it might make sense to either split off JN.1 into its own article, or as a subsection of BA.2.86. After all, it's the overwhelmingly dominant variant in four of the six regions of the world.[1] Boud (talk) 15:01, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

WHO citation "Tracking SARS-CoV-2 variants" [4] edit

In the main section of the article, citation 4 is listed as "failed verification" because its most recent listed accessed date is 2022 and the sentence citing the page lists a date in 2024. This WHO page (link) is updated frequently. At time of writing, the apparent most recent update was 15 April 2024, when an updated risk evaluation for JN.1 was added, and the page itself claims to be up to date as of 3 May 2024. What is the appropriate way to cite a single URL which updates frequently? 184.62.88.78 (talk) 20:24, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
