Birth year edit

edd: He was born in 1988. I have not edited Wikipedia before but can someone change it? IMDB will have right info. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.106.248.5 (talkcontribs) 09:57, 6 Dec 2006 (UTC)

Superbad edit

Somebody should create a page for the film Superbad. Also add info about Cera co-starring in Superbad. I'm too Noobish to know how to correctly do a film page layout. Ibemonty2000 21:55, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lifetime movie edit

i was watching Lifetime today and a very young Michael Cera was this lady's son who's husband pretended to be dead. does anyone know what that's called? Evaunit666 01:18, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Arrested Development edit

I notice that there is a complete lack of anything arrested development related in his career.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.166.180.116 (talkcontribs) 20:11, 18 August 2007

Personal life edit

Regarding the recent removal of information about his relationship, with the edit summary "rv his dating life is not notable": The information was referenced to articles in both Toronto Life and The Globe and Mail. In what sense is it not notable? Thanks in advance for any opinions on the matter. --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 19:30, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Those are reliable sources so I'd say include it. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:39, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Another editor put it back in. WP:BLP asks us to be very cautious about privacy, but considering that both he and his girlfriend are celebrities, and considering that the relationship has been reported in many mainstream media articles, I think it's probably reasonable to keep it in. --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 00:38, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't believe it is necessary to mention it because, we are an encyclopedia not a gossip column. An encyclopedia should be professional and a biography on him should focus on his acting career. I fail to see how his dating life is notable. The only people interested in this information are teeny-boppers, which we do not need to feed. Fans of his can gossip about his dating life in fan sites. If they got married that would be a bit different. Fighting for Justice (talk) 01:10, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I just think it is notable because I was sure he is gay. 75.3.227.205 (talk) 06:28, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think I do appreciate the points you are making. What might argue against what you are saying, though, is that the cited material appeared in profiles of Cera that were mainly focused on his acting; they were not in gossip columns, and not in tabloids (the Globe and Mail!). That would suggest it is more than just teeny-boppers who might find it relevant. Featured articles on Wikipedia do make mention of who the actor or musician is dating, if it is adequately sourced; see John Mayer#Personal life, for example. --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 02:59, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I had put the information back on the page, but then undid it after I realized there was an ongoing discussion about this. I had a similar issue with the article on Ben Foster. I deleted the mention of his dating life, but it was placed back in because it was supported by reputable resources. In the case of Michael Cera, one of the most reputable sources in Canada is the Globe and Mail. Keeping in mind the desire for some celebrities for privacy, I see no problem with including information about a celebrity's love life as long as it's not just supported by the tabloids or gossip sites like TMZ or Perez Hilton. For the sake of consistency on Wikipedia, I think it should be put back in. Mdb1370 (talk) 04:16, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Who he is dating is not notable. We don't need such information in an encyclopedia. Fighting for Justice (talk) 05:17, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
If I had my way, I would get rid of the dating information in the John Mayer article as well. The articles do not exist in order to generate fan gossip. Information of who they're dating does not belong in an encyclopedia. It does not matter where the source is coming from. It is not important to know who Michael Cera or John Mayer is dating, even less if they break up. Fighting for Justice (talk) 05:35, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
To clarify where we are at: On one hand, Fighting for Justice believes that this sort of information does not belong in an encyclopedia. On the other hand, the consensus at Wikipedia is that this sort of information does belong in featured articles (John Mayer#Personal life, Jake Gyllenhaal#Relationships, Angelina Jolie#Relationships). Any suggestions as to how to proceed from here? --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 14:24, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

As we all should know, wikipedia is not your typical encyclopedia. Typical encyclopedias might not mention celebs dating lives but then again they don't have articles on celebs either so should we delete every celebrity page? Almost every page about a celebrity has something about who they are with and I believe the general consensus on wikipedia is that it is notable enough to be mentioned. I say keep it. We should prob get rid of hook up history but at least mention who they are currently dating68.164.85.197 (talk) 06:27, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ethnicity edit

someone needs to add the fact that he's Jewish. He said he had a barmitzvah in an interview —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.134.73.62 (talk) 07:03, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's not ethinicity, it's religious affiliation. Jew's are not a race. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.241.55.51 (talk) 21:18, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

And ethnicity is not race, being Jewish, yes, is religious affiliation, but it is also an ethnic group, an American and a Canadian are both the same race, white. But they are different ethnic-wise because of the different countries. I think that the fact that he is Jewish is notable enough to add, whether being Jewish is an ethnicity or religious affiliation is besides the point. Zakariya bin Dana (talk) 02:35, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Eesh - Canadian and American are not races or ethnicities and are not white. They are both nationalities or citizenships of multiracial/cultural countries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.161.165.22 (talk) 16:37, 1 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Good point, one would suffice. BTW, about the Jewish thing - Jew among other things, they are a race/ethnic group. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Juno2007 (talkcontribs) 19:50, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
In this interview, Jonah Hill clearly implies that Cera is not Jewish. All Hallow's (talk) 09:08, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

His mother has English, Irish, Scottish, and Dutch ancestry - see this - so she is surely not Jewish. She was also born under a surname that probably rivals "McLovin'". All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 04:57, 9 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Concerning the human species the concept of race does not apply. The research of Luigi Luca Cavalli-Sforza shows that there is no scientific basis for such theories. race is a concept invented by racists to promote racism — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.115.60.218 (talk) 08:26, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Years active edit

The "years active" section of the infobox says 1988-present. The "Career" section of the article says that his career began in 1999. The TV part of the "Filmography" section indicates that one of his roles began in 1998. So, when did he actually start his career: 1988 (when he was born?), 1998, or 1999? –BMRR (talk) 20:04, 19 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Somebody just changed the infobox "years active" section to 1998-present. I guess that sort of answers my question. –BMRR (talk) 05:33, 21 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Arrested Development Role return edit

The show is coming back on netflix and he's playing George Michael again. I'm putting it in his Television filmography.Sean199813 (talk) 19:50, 28 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the 2013 insertion. It's premature to add that material to the table, particularly without a source that the "return" is in production. It would be better to add it to the body (with a reliable source).--Bbb23 (talk) 20:01, 28 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Sean, I left you a Welcome on your Talk page with useful policies and guidelines about contributing at Wikipedia. The source above would be okay to add information about Cera to the body of the article, but not to the table. We generally don't add items to filmography tables until something is proven to be in actual production, as opposed to just planned. However, we can add it in the body. The reasoning is that the body allows us to give more context, whereas the table makes it sound like it's a fact, which, of course, it isn't yet. Thanks for your understanding.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:18, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Here's a source that says production is set to begin in the summer: http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/arrested-development-season-4-netflix-releasing-all-10-episodes-at-once-next-year.html Sean199813 (talk) 00:15, 2 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Right, but you didn't put the source(s) in the article. Anyway, I've reworded the material in the article and added both of the sources you suggested. Take a look.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:26, 2 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I try to put in sources and it never works,I follow format and everything. Sean199813 (talk) 20:36, 4 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jesse Eisenberg comparisons edit

When you Google the words Michael Cera and Jesse Eisenberg, you get a whole bunch of sources (some reliable; others non-reliable) saying that they look alike, that they are often mistaken for each other, or comparing them in other ways.[1] Eisenberg has commented on the comparison factor, saying, "People recognize me all the time as [Michael Cera]. It's annoying. I don't like getting recognized as other people."[2]

I, for one, came to this article earlier this hour (9:00-something PM) thinking that Michael Cera starred in Zombieland, and was confused when I didn't see Zombieland listed in this article. Then I went to the Zombieland article to check what is up with that and then did the Google search to see if others were as confused as me about all of this, and then saw that most people have been or still are (especially those who still think that they are the same person). Since this affects the actors' acting careers, with viewers often confusing the two, I think it is more than trivial information. So does anyone mind if I add some information about this to this article? I'll also ask at the Jesse Eisenberg article. Halo Jerk1 (talk) 03:58, 19 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

The only concurrence is that both have starred in movies where the female lead was Emma Stone or Ellen Page. An actor that actually bears a greater resemblance to Jesse Eisenberg is Ashton Holmes, who had a supporting role in a movie starring Ellen Page. Do we see a pattern here? No, these people are just of about the same age, so they end up together in various movies catering to a teenage audience… — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.115.60.218 (talk) 08:37, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Relevance of parents working for Xerox? edit

This is labeled everywhere I go. It's the first sentence of his bio on IMDB. At this point it looks like an ad and should be treated as such since the fact holds absolutely no relevance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.129.71.49 (talk)
