Initial release?

The current revision mentions an initial release on 24 December 2016, but the official website mentions no official builds as of December 28. Isn't "the initial release" the release of the software, instead of the project launch date (or that of the source code)? Saturnalia0 (talk) 02:17, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

Pronunciation entry

There needs to be a pronunciation guide, as many people (especially those who don't know English very well) clearly mispronounce it in videos. Choco-mint flavor (talk) 07:03, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

I disagree. I'd say that 'lineage' isn't that uncommon of a word in English, so including the pronunciation is unnecessary according to the manual of style. MennasDosbin (talk) 07:26, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Preinstalled Apps

"LineageOS includes many useful apps, but none of the bloatware that is normally pre-installed by the phone's manufacturer or carrier".

This doesn't sound neutral at all, this implies that all software coming from manufacturers and carriers is bloatware. I think the vast majority understand the term bloatware, both the hardware (OEM) manufacturers junk software as well as the vast quantity of Google spyware / trackers etc., plus the monstrous play services. Rephrase sales pitch language

I think the article would be more credible if language which looks to be sales-pitch focussed was rephrased or removed, e.g. "LineageOS includes many essential and useful apps, but, like its predecessor CyanogenMod, is free from the bloatware often pre-installed by a phone's manufacturer or carrier.". One person's 'essential app' may be another person's "bloatware".

Perhaps this could be rephrased to something like "the Lineage core development team [or whover makes the decision] seeks to distibute an operating system with a limited number of applications they have decided are essential, in order to reduce package size". This might then open up a link or discussion as to how such a selection is made. thanks. --mgaved (talk) 13:13, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

All that needs mentioning is F-Droid, Aurora Droid and Aurora Store apps to replace Google Play Services, also the fact that Apps are easily side-loaded using .APK files. Many apps and games function without any Google Services being installed, though these can be added to the ROM. OEM apps along with Google Play Store are resource hogs on older hardware. It is also worth noting that newer, more secure versions of Android can be selected, though buggy old firmware device drivers may not be updated.

It would be a good idea to explain MicroG and OpenGapps Pico, as the Google Play Store Services. Though I'm not sure why anyone whould go to all the trouble of installing LineageOS just to put Google spyware back on. Especially with the alternative of side-loading or F-Droid, Aurora Droid and Aurora Store.

Aren't the "latest release" and the "latest preview" swapped by a mistake?

Suitable / popular phones ROM Code-names

Having installed LineageOS v17.1 (Android v10) on several eBay purchased obsolete Samsung phones and tablet, I have found it a very usable along with F-Droid, Aurora Droid and Aurora Store app store. It would be great if this Wikipedia article could list a few of the popularly used phones and their ROM code names. I have not been able to find anywhere that makes a list. Android vs. AOSP

The article lead says it's Android-based, but Android is a family of different operating systems, distributions, or "ROMs" (as they're known). Android is too broad, IMO.
