Was "Occupied Japan" an official country name??? Who announced the country of player as "Occupied Japan"? Where was the country of the name of "Occupied Japan"? According to the official report watch was attached , Japan is refered to as only "Japan". This article concerns the Olympic games. There is not related with a political situation of Japan.. I do not understand such as destructive edits. It is too nonsense..--Gettystein (talk) 13:01, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

• (not GA criteria, but) According to WP:BOLDTITLE, "Use as few links as possible before and in the bolded title." In other worlds: boldfacing "Winter Olympics" is ugly, and there is probably a better way to link this term.

• (not GA criteria) All-caps is a typographical choice (like choice of font or size), so when captioning the logo, use "De VI. olympiske vinterleker Oslo 1952" (not Norwegian capitalization rules).

• Perhaps be more specific and say the "first time the Winter Games had been hosted by a Scandinavian country", since Stockholm did host the 1912 Summer Games.

• "Bislett Stadium" or "Bislett Stadion" or "Bislett stadion"? The correct Norwegian name is with a small 's'. There was at once reached agreement at WP:Norway that we not translate 'stadion' into 'stadium' for names. The capitalization of 'stadion' is completely inconsistent on en.wp right now.

• For this every mention of Bislett stadium was changed to Bislett stadion. But where "stadium" was left without a name ("...a new hockey stadium built for the Games.), I left stadium as is. Is this ok?

• Looks good. When used as a common noun, stadium is fine. We had a larger discussion about this perhaps a year or two ago, because a few football venues were being moved from Foo stadion to Foo Stadium, and it is nice to be consistent across the project.Hamar stadion

• "Holmenkollen ski jump" should probably be called "Holmenkollbakken", for the same reason as above.

• I changed all instances of "Holmenkollen ski jump hill" to "Holmenkollbakken" is this correct?

• My only hang up with using this image is that he didn't win anything in 1952. It's a great image of a cross-country skier at the 1952 Games, so it is certainly topical. I guess I'm overthinking things, I'll put it in.

• I just uploaded File:Holmenkollbakken 1952.jpg; it is not from the Olympics, but from Holmenkollbakken about two weeks later.

• I replaced the modern aerial image with this one.

• In the alpine skiing section, I would like to see "alpine skiing", "slalom", "great slalom" and "downhill" all linked.

• My thinking on this was that Bandy is likely outside the experience of most readers so perhaps a short explanation of the game was in order. The rules are also explained in the official report. Is it out of place given that none of the other sports get this treatment?

• Tryvann stadion is located in Oslo, further up the hill from Holmenkollen. There were two different reserve venues for the speed skating, either Tryvann or Hamar.

• I made the switch but said the reserve venues were Tryvann and Hamar stadions. Is this correct?

• On the Norwegian Wikipedia there are articles for no:Skøytebaner i Oslo (skating rinks in Oslo, which mentions Tyrvann) and no:Hamar stadion. I presume these are the ones, although the source is not 100% specific. Arsenikk ^(talk) 21:34, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

• Images from the official report may very well be in the public domain. I'll take a look at that.

• I would love to use some official report images but didn't know about public domain/free use rules for Norwegian images were. Any help on this would be sincerely appreciated.

• They are most likely in the public domains in Norway, but because of the Uruguay Round Agreements Act they are not so in the US. And uploads to the Commons (or free use on Wikipedia) requires the images to be in the public domain both in the US and in Norway. So if the Wikipedia Foundation moved the servers to Oslo, then we could use them. I will take a look and see if I can find some way around it, but I'm not optimistic.
